    • Some people handle stress better than others . All these impersonal institutions where no one is responsible for the evil they do , have eroded our humanity and degraded many into desperation (corporations , banks , insurance co's ) War , lack of homes , jobs - even healthcare , is driving people over the edge . This is how our civilization will implode , if it does . It will die because we lost our humanity . All the pills in the world cannot fix that .

Sadly,... these things happen in 3's, 10's, 20's, 100's and 1,000's. Droves of angry, hateful or unstable people act out daily. But I see only ONE pattern --- human nature.

    • So many guns,... so little time. It's sickening to see how high tensions can get, how intensified anger gets and how easily it is for someone to express their hatred. Looks like ANY kind of peace is far, far away.

oh and we wouldnt want to disappoint you by discussing serious current events. Hey everybody, lets just talk about cute pandas.

I understand that there may be a chance that you might not be disappointed with the stories being on current, but the stories themselves; yet i couldnt hold myself from pointing out the way your comment came off. and while it is sadening that there has been two shootings in the U.S. so close together, it actually happens all the time, but this story is getting some run off lime-light from the Fort Hood event. That isnt to say this occurrence is any less important or should get any less attention. In fact i believe the exact opposite, i think we should be hearing and discussing every tragic event, and trying to really understand them as best we can.

sorry you interpreted it that way. i appreciate all the news on current, i wasn't expecting these to NOT appear, i just mean that it's tragic to hear about these two stories happening right next to each other, so you're ok there.

we haven't really seen one in a while, now we get two in a row. in the midst of our environment improvements, gay rights stuff, marijuana, and obama's positive efforts, we get mass shootings. most of our recent issues have been political and pertaining to the prospect of progress.

it's more the irony i'm referring to.
but i'm not trying to say we shouldn't pay attention to them, i just find it unpleasant to hear about this stuff, but i know they happen.

      To Ajil,
A shooting usually only gets media attention when it is in assassination terms. Like columbine or fort hood. So yes shootings happen everyday throughout the U.S. but usually not as tragic or massive as a planned killing spree.

    • I work about 3 blocks away in an office building downtown. Every office building down here was on lockdown. He was pissed they let him go from RS&H. Pretty crazy to see so much violence in a city that seems so small.

    • Why is there an exclamation mark in the title of this story? "Shooting at Orlando high rise! Action! Adventure! Blood! Gore!"

The lunatic is on the grass
The lunatic is on the grass
Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs
Got to keep the loonies on the path
The lunatic is in the hall
The lunatics are in my hall
The paper holds their folded faces to the floor
And every day the paper boy brings more
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forbodings too
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon....

Full moons are mythically supposed to bring the crazies (lunatics) out of hiding.
