Hitler house sale alarms locals

The unassuming house where Hitler was born in 1889 has been put on the market priced at 2.2m euros (£1.9m; $3.3m).
Residents and local politicians fear that the property could fall into the hands of far-right extremists.
Braunau's mayor Gerhard Skiba wants to prevent that happening, but the council does not have the funds to buy it.
The building is currently used by an organisation helping the disabled and has at various times in its history housed a library, bank and technical institute.
Some historians have suggested turning the building into a museum.
However Mr Skiba vigorously opposes the idea, saying it would encourage people from all over the world to visit the site.
For the time being, the only reminder of the building's infamous past is a small memorial dedicated to the victims of the Nazis.

If we destroy everything that was ever associated with Hitler, will not he and his atrocity's be forgotten? Shall we just forget so that history repeats?
We do not burn and destroy images of Holocaust. We preserve them as a grim reminder, so that so many who died are not forgotten. Are not those images his true legacy?
IMO the building should be annexed by the government, a fair price given. A grim part of history to never be forgotten. - 2 years ago

Hardly, the Jewish controlled media will never let us forget. I say burn Hitler's house down and be done with the possibility that it will fall into NEO NAZI hands.

Kinda sick that the only reason the house is worth so much is because Hitler lived there, otherwise it shouldn't even be half the price, the council should be able to buy it for it's real value, who ever is trying to up the price because of it's famous past tenant should be shamed into selling it cheap.

I think its weird that they don't just tear it down and build something else entirely. Surely the property must be the real money. That tiny little house hardly seems worth 3.3 Million Dollars.

Leonding is a small town, located 5 kilometers (3 miles) southwest of Linz, Austria. Adolf Hitler moved there with his family in November 1898 when he was 9 years old. He lived with his family in this house at Number 16 Michaelsbergstrasse for seven years. Hitler's father purchased the house for 7,700 Kronen on a ten-year mortgage; it was later sold for 10,000 Kronen.

No, I am serious. I mean, it is nice that it is currently being used to teach disabled people, but I am just kind of shocked that it didn't come down immediately after the war when everyone found out what monstrosities had been committed by him. It is a little strange to me.

I am surprised that no one burned it down. It is amazing that it still stands.

It might be because people don't want to forget about what happened.
But then again, you'd expect hooligans who don't give a damn to destroy it.

Why would you tear down a house. Especially one as old as that. It is a house that probably had people living in it b4 Hitler.
It is a house.
Would you tear down the store, school, hospital, library, etc. etc. that Hitler frequented?
it is just another building.
And please God do not think I am PRO-HITLER. - 2 years ago

You're PRO HITLER Julian!! what's your address, i'm coming after you!! lol.. j/k! =D
I do see your point, but, there's a lot of wrong that came from the person that lived there. So, there's always going to be anger associated with anything that had to with him.

It is not even that I think it should be demolished. I am just surprised that it wasn't. However, if there is a chance that it will be used as some kind of shrine for neo-nazis to go pay homage, it might not be a bad idea to raze it.
