The Bushes entered and departed the sprawling military facility in secret, having told the base commander they did not want press coverage of their visit, a source told Fox News.Former President George W. Bush and his wife Laura secretly visited Fort Hood last night and spent "considerable time" consoling those who were wounded in Thursday's shooting spree, Fox News has learned.
The Bushes entered and departed the sprawling military facility in secret, having told the base commander they did not want press coverage of their visit, a source told Fox News.
The couple was described as "deeply concerned" about military families on Fort Hood after Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan allegedly opened fire on soldiers and civilians, killing 13 and wounding 38.
The Bushes, who have a 1,600-acre property known as Prairie Chapel Ranch less than 30 miles from Fort Hood in central Texas, spent between one and two hours visiting the wounded and their families.

You never see Bush around a civilian crowd. It's always the military. That way then can order people to smile and shake his hand.

Amen. And nice call to black dude in the photo hahaha
They'll probably build a memorial to this Fort Hood shooting yet how many died in the Iraq War? 4,200 or so? And something like 59,000 came back without a limb.
I would HOPE Bush goes to visit these Fort Hood people if he's only a 5 minute drive away.
"Why did this have to happen on my day off?!? I was gonna go fishing today."

Firstly., if you take a picture of more 25 people, it is probably easy to see one or two people who won't be smiling, and whatever you can say about GW being a fool, idiot, retard or all of the above (I pick number D), you cannot say he wasn't proud and respectful of his militart. Civilians, he didn't give a sh** about, but he did care for the armed forces

You are some of the most bitter, disgraceful people I've ever had the misfortune to interact with. The man is honoring the death of murdered military personnel (bite your tongue before you shoot off some bullshit "connection" to that comment), just like any other respectful American should. Get a fucking grip on yourselves.

Ares, you'd actually have a point IF it weren't for the fact HE put them in harms way to begin with on false pretense and sheer stupidity. So no - he's not just like any other respectful American. That's like an arsonist paying tribute to the fire department.

"(bite your tongue before you shoot off some bullshit "connection" to that comment)"
Congress holds the sole responsibility for continuing any war effort, justifiable or not. You're alleging that a murderer cannot feel bad that his brother was murdered, or a rapist cannot feel bad that his mother was raped, or that a liberal can't schmooze his way into the white house. It's all bullshit. Do I need to provide statistics showing the approval rating of the current president? Or how the stark majority of the armed forces are identified as conservatives?

in a picture of that many people you'll easily catch some not smiling...in fact who knows if that black man or the man in back WERE smiling yet got pushed or something at the time of the photo thus losing their smile for a split second, or maybe he's focusing and thinking on how to get to the front in order to shake Bush's hand as well, don't be misled by a photo.
And what the hell is wrong with Bush going to honor those who died at a base in his HOME STATE. He probably has great honor and sympathy for those there. And as has been said before good ol' congress could have easily stopped a war effort. Last I checked Bush was not a past-dictator, he was past-president. So blaming him for all of it is just an easy way for people to point a finger at someone so that they don't have to incriminate their own.

In fact a murderer can be remorseful but that doesn't make him/her any less responsible. Would you accept some feigned largess from the person responsible for killing your brother?
