Kai Newkirk, 29, is an uninsured American who believes that health care is a right. He helped launch the Mobilization for Health Care for All network which orchestrated sit-ins around the country last week including in Senator Lieberman's D.C. offive where he was arrested and from which he remains in jail today.
Lieberman, who stated he "will not allow" the health care bill to pass in the Senate, is a primary target of reform activists

The Mobilization for Health Care for All Facebook page states the following: Kai Newkirk is still in jail and on Day 6 of his hunger strike. He is with John Mohrbacher, a Connecticut resident. They are waiting on Senator Lieberman to speak with them about not accepting insurance company money. Insurance companies must stop buying off our legislators so that we can move toward real reform that treats health care like a human right, such as Medicare for All!
