Lou Dobbs leaves CNN

SleepDirt
The evolution of CNN anchor Lou Dobbs from financial news wizard to populist defender of American jobs to right-wing promoter of "birther" conspiracies appears to have come to an abrupt end with his announcement Wednesday evening that he's leaving the network to "pursue new opportunities."

"This will be my last broadcast here on CNN, where I've worked for most of the past 30 years," Dobbs told an unsuspecting audience on Lou Dobbs Tonight.

    • He (Dobbs) was graciously saying that he had been released from his contractual obligations to CNN, because he steadfastly refused to capitulate to pressure from CNN's hierarchy to obfuscate real news (truthfully portrayed) in lieu of crafted leftist socialist propaganda - - to express something liberals can't possibly grasp . . . truth, honor and personal integrity.

Yeah, well, and the message was clear after harassing phone calls a month 1/2 ago when a bullet sped past him and his wife standing outside their home last October. Maybe this led to a firm decision to get out of the BS news arena. I personally don't think it possible for a big ass melting pot like America to have the intuition to shut down their boarders.

Snarky, Jubal? Pot calling the kettle black, Mr., I've seen many a comment from you that fits those descriptive analogies. . . but then, isn't that often called tit for tat? - - Is it possible you're expressing a little to much self-righteous indignation?

    • Lou Dobbs really has changed alot over a not so long period of time. just a few years ago he had a book 'war on the middle class' that was all about how the upper classes of society are preying on the middle class and trying to make us all poor. he sounded like quite a liberal. now fast forward just a few short years and all of a sudden he's a far right wing nut job on the fringes. what happened? just trying to go with whatever gets ratings I suppose.

No, he just matured and politically grew up . . . and journalistically began to throw up from all the biased and deceptive bullshit he was expected to dump on his fellow citizens with a straight face . . .

    • I think some things should be cleared up. Dobbs was basically forced out because he didn't stick to CNN's no "bs" policy (Dobbs liked spewing opinions over facts).

"Months ago the president of CNN/U.S., Jonathan Klein, offered a choice to Lou Dobbs, the channel’s most outspoken anchor. Mr. Dobbs could vent his opinions on radio and anchor an objective newscast on television, or he could leave CNN.

Lou Dobbs, seen at a demonstration last year, had been asked to drop his conservative talk on TV or take his views to radio.

For a time, Mr. Dobbs did tone down his TV rhetoric, but on Wednesday he made a more drastic decision: He chose opinion" ...

In addition, It seems FOX "News" doesn't even want him

"At the time Mr. Dobbs was characterized by people close to him as a potential hire for the Fox Business Network. But a Fox representative said Wednesday, 'We have not had any discussions with Lou Dobbs for Fox News or Fox Business.'”

So Lou could not even meet Fox's...er...exacting journalistic standards? He reminds me of the title given to the last player selected each year in the NFL draft: Mr. Irrelevant...

Back at ya Helen, you don't even know cztheday, he is a well respected self made man who truly is "fair and balanced", unlike your idol with whom you obviously are in a cult worship of; Dobbs. Cztheday has mountain of integrity compared to the shit hole of integrity that Dobbs is in.

You mean in the same way that Dobbs is typical and sensational like most of the right wing nuts? I don't think so. Being informed and intellectual is not automatically liberal the same way that being sensational and defamatory is not automatically conservative. Those are the stereotypes and do not accurately reflect the reality of the commentary.

Based on your comment, it is clear that you are acting in a defamatory manner and not here to raise social awareness or provide a critique, you are attacking with insults. That makes you look immature and foolish.

Dobbs often touched on issues that the p/c MSM weasels had no stomach to touch, and somehow that inflames the left? Too damned close to home I suppose. . .
Whether or not that you may be at odds with the subject matter, at this point truly is not the issue. . . .at issue here - was the subject content that Dobbs came to bear more light upon done with malice, to defame and inflame? Unequivocally not!
He fully realized the controversial content of the issues he touched upon, and he did it with more humble class and grace each time he aired these questionable issues, then the whole of the liberal left can muster at any time at the best of their arrogant, condescending self-righteous moments.

    • Looks like ol' Lou shot himself in the foot by pushing the "birther" issue. Probably headed to Fox "News" where he'll be serving coffee to Hannity.

Yeah, i'd say his adamant adherence to such a ridiculous and fully-debunked meme might have been a tipping point for ol' Lou.

    • What ever happened to free speech. Is the extreme right the only ones to report the bad news? Lou Dobbs had some rights but then some extreme leftists are forcing him out. We have too many wild organizations with too much power. The American people are quiet as usual. We have AIPAC and many other organizations running this country while the public wallows in hopelessness. Legal Latinos have every right to live here in this country. There were still plenty of Latinos living here before and after the Alamo and San Jacinto and they have been serving this country as US Citizens. Corruption is so bad in Mexice that people seek all means to enter the USA. Understood. But I do not hear of so much hate for ayone like Dobbs when Limbaugh, Hannity and others tries to incite hate among the American people. Nobody has the guts to speak up about the real Problems we have like the Federal Reserve Banks and the moneymen who have found all sorts of criminal ways to manufacture wealth from fraud like Derivatives and bundled mortages that helped to bring this country down. Dobbs had nothing to do with this But Bush and his Moneyfriends did it all and nobody is making any noises about The Bush Gang. Why?? Is specific propaganda and hate mongers that powerful? Wake up only less than 2,000 politicians control your lives and no one does anything to change it. Sad.

That's the first unbiased, informative comment I've read up here. To speak hypothetically of course we've been conquered by giving credence to this incestuous 2-party political diversion.

    • I doubt Fox News will take him given the economic and trade policies the channel and its commentators support (although I suppose he could change his tune for the right amount of money).

    • From the article:

"And some leaders in media politics and business have been urging me to go beyond the role here on CNN and to engage in constructive problem solving."

Dobbs said he "talked extensively" with CNN President Jonathan Klein and "we have agreed to a release from my contract that will enable me to pursue new opportunities."

      Hmmmm...

@2hellenwait, you are a real comedian, yes? Dobbs is not truthful, he is flame fanner and has done more damage to the nation by creating division, inciting hatred, and demoralizing many people in this country that happen to be Hispanic and are legal citizens. Dobbs marginalized them by throwing all Latinos into the same pot with illegal aliens. What has come to his resignation is a backlash for all the suffering that he has caused in the Hispanic community and the damage he has done to them for the past I don't know how many years, egging on the vigilante citizen actions that he supports with his commentary.

You can sit pretty in your ivory tower of delusion, but the reality is THE MINORITIES ARE GOING TO BE THE MAJORITY, and there ain't a damn thing you can do about it, except exact your vigilante justice. I think your energy would be better spent learning to play nice with your neighbors before your nose is rubbed into the piss and shit you and the group of people you identify with are spreading around.

Hmm, don't you actually mean the piss and shit vitriol that you race baiting liberal leftist fling in abundance to any and all who believe there is reason to the rule of law? Law, you know that thingy thats seems to have no credence with politicians no matter their partisan persuasion. Dobbs stand was in concern for the rule of law regarding illegal immigration. . .it does have a purpose, but then maybe you favor illegal invasion?
