The WWJD Hate Crime Inciters are Getting Some Support for their DC "Protest"

I posted the rather unbelievable story last week that got a lot of you talking about Pastor Gary Cass of the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission losing his mind over the passage of the Matthew Shepard & James Byrd Hate Crimes Prevention Act. Cass and his group of hate-mongers had decided to head to DC on November 16th to protest the Hate Crimes Act in front of the Department of Justice in hopes of getting arrested, saying:

"We're basically going to defy the law, and challenge it. We're going to declare the whole counsel of God, including those parts that some may consider 'inciting a hate crime'"

Of course, we all know that the Hate Crimes Law has nothing to do with speech or religious freedom, but don't try any of that pesky logic on Cass and his cohorts.

Well, it looks like the putrid party of hate is getting a little bigger now with support from all the usual suspects in the "hate on gays" army...

Much more after the jump...

    • See, it's people like this that really tick me off. They are becoming the face of Christianity... and their messages are not CHRISTIAN. I personally think homosexuality is a wrong. However, by no means do I support hate. And to say, "God hates you." Have these people even read the Bible. If that was the case, then God would hate everyone. Gays are people and should not be treated differently than anyone else. Hmm... I think (could be wrong here) Jesus' message was one of love. I think it's wrong, but it's your choice to live how you want... so I'm not going to treat you any differently. By no means am I perfect. So please, do not let the media brainwash you and convince you that these people speak for all Christians. These people do not follow the teachings of Christ!

    • There was another post related to this post recently. It was the one providing statistics on how many people claim to believe in Christianity but have no idea what Jesus actually said. It's really annoying that these people get so much media attention. They're just really mean, ignorant people holding signs.

    • That's fine, attacking a homosexual (solely for being a homosexual) should be a hate crime. As long as attacking someone who probably deserves it (regardless of orientation) is still just a simple assault charge, great. I just don't want the law taken out of context.

And big deal, a lot of people, even pastors claiming to be Christian aren't. This isn't a new thing or new to the "Christian" community. Look at feminists, quite a few of them fit the description, but a large percentage of them have adopted a masculine image, and are big "butch" lesbians. But they are feminine feminists, supporting the female cause (while dressing, acting, and living; as MEN)

Yeah it's wrong, and it's sad that decent Feminists & Christians are believed to be "whack jobs" due to the actions of a few.

    • Update:

Right Wing Watch just posted this press release update from Rick Scarborough saying Anti-Gay Activists Are Just Like MLK:

"On October 28, President Barack Obama signed into law a measure extending the federal hate crimes statute to include so-called sexual orientation. The ministers believe this will criminalize all criticism of homosexual behavior, including that contained in the Bible.

To test this belief and protest a clear violation of First Amendment freedom of speech and religion, various clergy will preach short sermons and read passages from the Bible regarding homosexual behavior. Like Dr. Martin Luther King and the Sixties Civil Rights movement, they will engage in civil disobedience to protest injustice."

I think I just threw up a little in my mouth...

I don't think their speech should be a crime at all- I'm a huge free speech advocate.

but that works both ways: they get to spout hateful rhetoric and fair minded people get to point out how damaging and dangerous it is. You can have a problem with someone's speech and denounce it, while still supporting their right to say it.
