Does Fort Hood killer Nidal Hasan's religion matter? Speculation as to Hasan's motive continue to center around Hasan's Islamic religion. Many want to insist that the actions of Hasan constitute proof that Islam, taken as a whole, is a violent, destructive, and ultimately corrupt religion.

    • No. The fact that he was temporarily insane with grief from the knowledge that he'd be deployed YET AGAIN does. If it were a white soldier or even a soldier of ANY OTHER stripe, we wouldn't even be discussing religion.

And guess what? There are white Muslims.

    • Not any more than Catholics were for hiding their pedophiles. Anyone is corruptable, but we must take responsability for what is done in the name of our religions. We have to route out people like Hasan and tell them specifically they have no place with God except begging forgiveness.
And, I don't believe any religion can truly be taken as a whole, mine alone has three denominations, Christians have possibly dozens, every Hindu has a different favorite holy statue.
