Christine Spillane, 19, of the first block of West Broad Street was charged Tuesday with aggravated assault by York Area Regional Police.
Spillane was released on $5,000 unsecured bail by York County District Judge JoAnn Teyral.
Teyral also ordered Spillane not have contact with the victim.
According to police, Josh Denenberg, 22, of York went to Spillane's apartment just after 1 p.m. Monday, and an argument began over child support for their 9-month-old daughter.
Denenberg left after being accused of not paying child support and returned with a receipt to show that he did pay, according to court records.
As Denenberg was holding the baby, Spillane asked him to put the baby down and leave, according to court records. Spillane told police Denenberg became upset and attacked her by pushing her to the ground, police said. She told police she got up, grabbed a large knife in the kitchen and began to wrestle with Denenberg, police said.
Spillane told police she swung the knife several times, hitting Denenberg in the arm and abdomen, police said. He was taken to York Hospital by a Yoe ambulances to be treated for his injuries, police said.
In Denenberg's account, he said he was holding the baby when Spillane took the baby from him and stabbed him, breaking the knife in two pieces, according to

court records. Police recovered a broken knife in the kitchen.
When police arrived, the victim was outside in a parking lot, screaming: "She cut me. She's upstairs," according to court records. Denenberg had a deep cuts to his abdomen and left forearm that went to the bone, police said.
York Area Regional Police Sgt. Rod Varner said Denenberg's wounds were serious. Denenberg's condition could not be obtained Tuesday.
Spillane cut her hand and was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle, said police, who described her injuries as a minor cut and scratch on her head. The baby, who was home at the time, was not injured, police said.

Of course what she did should be called domestic violence.
The article here calls what happened a "domestic fight", which is as much as saying "domestic violence". As for the charges, I wonder if the 'domestic violence' charge is ALWAYS used along with other charges or a charge they just SOMETIMES use. Do they just not charge WOMEN with DV, or do they sometimes also not charge men with DV? I wonder.....
But either way, you can bet the men are charged with DV much more than women.

Women are perfect. They can do no wrong nor can they work on deep sea fishing boat or a big rig. But they don't fight to work on those unpretty jobs. Nope.
Women also are not 'strong' enough to physically harm a man. Even with a knife. Dur.

If you are a WASP male you are at the bottom of the totem pole, or food chain if you like. Political Correctness has tried to reverse the false sense of men controlling females into women controlling males through legal mumbo-jumbo. I blame it on lawyers they have totally effed us Americans in every single field I can think of.
Obnoxious rules and regulations, BS and corruptibility, lawyers truely are the bain on every elses American Dream! They own the Big homes, in my town. Then again Pennsylvania is "the Land Of Litigation". - 2 years ago

I really couldnt have said it better bull......
In general if a man had stabbed his g/f or wife it would be automatically labeled as DV. Regardless if there was any previous evidence of similar activities, it would be assumed that there was. Any research into DV and/or abusive relationships show that there is often a slight build before it gets physical. One could even question the reason for this man to be holding his child during the argument.... Has it prevented the mother from attacking him in the past???

Because some policies and procedures are based upon DV statistics. If the statistic say 90%+ of DV cases are perpetrated by males then police and judges will act accordingly even though this contradicts hundreds of studies with sample sizes in the hundreds of thousands. Politician's pass domestic violence bills, and the police's response to calls are greatly influenced by this statistic. Domestic abuse hot lines, and women's shelters are also influenced by this number and so to is public opinion. It is difficult, if not impossible, to make rational decisions individually or as a society based upon misinformation. in this case domestic violence would influence his parental rights.
The end of the article summed it up fairly well. After writing about the problems with the definition of domestic violence. He gave examples of some of the various definitions.
"Undermining your partner's "sense of self-worth?" Making repeated attempts to get your wife to stop buying so many pairs of shoes? Putting to sleep a terminally-ill pet? Yep, each of those constitutes violent behavior under the OVW definition. Shooting your husband in the head with a shotgun while he sleeps? Not necessarily."

She was charged with aggravated assault. He was not charged with anything. I guess I don't understand why a DV charge would be more effective.

Men are not valued in our society. Boys are ignored, young men are unemployed, and the gender police try to make certain that disputes of any kind are resolved in favor of women. This is one reason why our country has gone bankrupt and has become weak.

Progresshiv:
It's not that MEN are not valued in our society. It's that PEOPLE are not valued in our society. Women can't get femenist equality because women don't back up women in the issues of equaliity. Our veterans don't get respect because the people who ARE veterans don't support each other. We get the old guilt play of being told to "support our troops!" Our troops don't support each other. For whatever reason, people just do not support and back each other up. When we get caught up and trapped in this situation we set ourselves up to be abused by the government, the pentagon, the church, or who ever in trying to gain power over people.

It appears that DV charges are exclusively for men just as gender equality is exclusively for women.
