16 yr old Boy tasered by cops 19 times

KSirys
OZARK, Mo. -- A family from Branson wants answers about what happened to their son that left him hospitalized. Early Saturday morning, police found Mace Hutchinson, 16, underneath the Highway F overpass over U.S. 65.
Mace ended up in intensive care at a hospital. His parents believe the actions of Ozark police officers contributed to his injuries and slowed doctors’ abilities to speed his recovery.
“We called the police. My wife was afraid he was going to get ran over or hit,” said witness Doug Messersmith.
Messersmith and his wife were the last known people to see 16-year-old boy walking, shortly before their phone call to 911.
“He looked a little agitated but, other than that, he didn't look to be falling down drunk or anything like that,” he said.
By the time officers arrived, the teen was off the 30-foot overpass, lying on the shoulder below along U.S. 65, with no good explanation as to how he got there.
“According to the doctors, all injuries are consistent with a fall,” said his aunt, Samantha.
Mace's dad believes it was just that, a fall, not a jump. The question is why.
“They tested his system. He was clean of drugs and alcohol. We don't know why unless just being in shock and the whole thing in itself caused him to forget everything,” said Hutchinson.
His aunt says he is undergoing major surgery for a broken back and broken heel. While he was lying on the ground, she wonders why Ozark police used an electric stun gun on him up to 19 times.
“I'm not an officer, but i don't see the reason for ‘Tasering’ somebody laying there with a broken back. I don't consider that a threat,”
His dad says the use of the stun gun delayed what would have been immediate surgery by two days.
“The ‘Tasering’ increased his white blood cell count and caused him to have a temperature so they could not go into the operation.”
“He refused to comply with the officers and so the officers had to deploy their Tasers in order to subdue him. He is making incoherent statements; he's also making statements such as, ‘Shoot cops, kill cops,’ things like that. So there was cause for concern to the officers,” said Ozark Police Capt. Thomas Rousset.

Even though this happened last year, I hope people start realizing the reason why our youth and my generation (i'm 33 now) hate cops!!

"Simple just put in your report he was saying uhhh "shoot cops..kill cops" or something like that and your good to go"

    • What I see is fear - probably because the people in this country are armed. The story that hit me hardest was the car crash victim. Even the way the charged officers described his condition would indicate probable shock. I would hate to have these guys be the first on the scene EVER. The other one that was really scary was what dropped in on that rave in Utah... those were NOT cops - military. Posse Comatitus is dead.

    • One commenter very prolific in this thread is obviously a sado-masochistic troll. He enjoys being the biggest asshole he can be, knowing that he can't be called it since this site is so censored. He's much like a horse fly that keeps on and on re-opening a wound for more blood to drink. A scumbag I don't even need to say his name. LOL.

As I suspected this was just a hate cop thread more than an informative one.

I haven't found any access to the actual medical records, though, I agree, that would certainly be helpful. I haven't found much information on this at all. I'm posting what I find, if it's from what appears to be a credible source. I believe he is referring to the the article I posted here which states, "Medical records from the hospital show Hutchinson was high on LSD the night of the incident." It is stated under the heading "Cut 1".

I think it should also be considered that his behavior AFTER this experience is not necessarily indicative of or analogous with his behavior BEFORE the experience. This whole mess could mess a person up, so don't totally discount cause and effect. Of course, that may just provide an explanation--certainly not an excuse.

It also says on the same page:

His mother, Stephanie Hutchinson has told the Christian County Headliner that the hospital told her there was a trace amount of marijuana in her son's system.

      and

Hutchinson's mother tells the Christian County Headliner that her son was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol... but, does admit the hospital told her they had found a trace of marijuana in her son's system.

LOL Jammer you are in rare form today! Fiesty and diligent on several threads; you must be exhausted :P You know I'm just trying to analyze this thing from all angles, and being fair is not a bad thing! Addressing your quote (yes, I'll address you, but it's a one-a-day limit, because we both know you're trying to whip people up): "One would have to prove that tasering causes personalities to change." But my point, as I think you probably recognize, was not that tasering would change one's personality, but that traumatic events MAY POSSIBLY affect a person... and, really, that's not a stretch. I'm fair-minded, analytical and just considering the possibility that people may be affected by the things that happen to them.

    • Just goes to show never trust a cop. If a cop was falling off a ledge and asked me to save him or her, i'd kiss them goodbye. While I am generally not a fan of blanket statements, if you choose to wear the badge, I dont trust you or like you. Good or bad.

Hiya KSirys, I was just looking for legitimate documentation of all these events to try to get a handle on it all, you know? Just trying to verify what is true and what isn't for myself. I cannot find any documentation saying he died. I couldn't find in your video where it said he died, but maybe I missed it. What minute mark did they say that? (Just to clarify: I am not saying that it is acceptable to tazer a 16-year-old with a broken back 19 times, whether he died or didn't, and I am not denying that police brutality happens.)

there is no admissible evidence that he jumped Jammer...that is just what the cops are saying...the jury is still out on whether police officers who are capable of tasering a 16-year old with a broken back 19 times are also capable of pushing that same child off of the bridge.

the ONLY good cop is a dead cop because the dead ones cant tell lies...

does anyone think that these are isolated incidents? it happens everyday! EVERYDAY!

      EVERYDAY!!!

we as Americans need to stop worrying about other countries issues and deal with our own. we as Americans need to stand up and push back against these hateful and violent thugs.

there is no such thing as a good cop. if they wear a badge, they lie. fact...

this problem is far beyond any reasonable reproach, only fire will put this blaze out....

    • Bad cops and bad prosecutors are one of the main reasons this country does not measure up to it's promise.
Imagine - police being perfected so that, when encountered, everyone would feel ease? -That police professionalism would rise to the same place as emergency-medical people? People who are educated and who help?

If this were so - the promise of the country would be fulfilled - and we would all feel the great joy.

In this sense, bad cops and sleazy prosecutors and judges are a main disease our society has.

Would it be great to live in the real promise of America?

@ Jammer, not hypocritical at all to start fighting the true enemies of freedom for a change. It would be a move away from hypocritical actually. Hypocritical is shoving your "democracy" down unwilling throats, and "freeing" iraq by building prisons there and executing the masses including the cute puppies, which were viciously hurled off of cliffs by future cops.

All cops are bad. There is no such thing as a good cop. Those that think they know good cops should ask them if they would turn in a dirty cop. Chances are real good they wouldnt. That makes them as bad or worse then the pigs they are protecting.

Fuck each and every piece of shit that wears a badge. One day they will be targets. I hope they shine those badges up real nice. It makes them easier to see through the scope.

    • This is shocking. I can't understand how a person lying on the ground with a broken back could be a threat, no matter what he's saying. And even if he was somehow threatening, wouldn't one tasering do the job? 19? That is unjustifiable. Thank you for posting this. I can't watch the video right now, but I'll come back later...

if there is something you can *say* to a police officer to make him beat you while you are helpless, instead of take you into custody, that officer has the problem and it needs to be investigated. self control is a requirement for people with weapons.

vnprado its the fact that this 16 year old kid, who was already injured when the police showed up, was tasered 19 times.

the police kept him from being treated and most likely exacerbated his injuries what with tasering him 19 times. Which all eventually lead to the kids untimely death. Could he have been saved? Who the hell knows, I don know that if they had gotten him to a hospital sooner and had not tasered him at all then his chances would have been a lot better.

    • So children if you want to join a Gang and don't want to go to jail Just become a police officer. There are so many good people out There that will never so much get a ticket and then there are those that can walk down the street and go to jail for jaywalking. I'am one of those that they just love to throw people in jail. I do beleave that The police today are nothing more than a bunch of Thugs waiting for Martial Law to kick in so they can advoid the laws they swore to uphold. The U.S. is a police state. Fight back buy a video camera and use it when ever the police are around. Whats good for the Goose is good for the Gander.

No one is always in trouble unjustly. That's impossible.

JJ you have a very weird way about you. through the whole thread you preach to everyone else to think about what they are saying and to be fair and level headed and all this nonsense.
Then you pop off with this " I dont care" bullshit, this kid died because these stupid neglectful ass wipes couldn't subdue him, even though he was injured and immobilized, so they decided to taser him 19 times!!

These pigs are the sole reason this kid didnt get to the hospital for treatment sooner, not only that but I would say being tasered 19 times exacerbated his condition.

You need to grow up friendo and realize the truth about the world you live in, its not all sunshine and farts. There are assholes and idiots to be dealt with and your ignorant complacency towards these real world issues (cops who abuse their authority) does not help anyone.

    • You know, my brother is a police officer and he would NEVER do something like this - he is responsible, respectful, and most of all understanding when it comes to serious situations. We've had many conversations about it before, and it just so happens that there are assholes who also wear the badge, and it is unfortunate.

That being said, I have had my fair share of run-ins with the police, and yes, each time I was frightened beyond belief that they were going to hurt me or do something terrible to me (as a young female). Why I felt that way, I'm not sure, but it definitely had something to do with the smug and aggressive attitudes they all had.

It's not fair of us to make such large blanket statements that ALL cops are assholes.

@hell0everything, You're right about that, not all cops are assholes, but the majority are. The sad thing about that? Is that they make the good cops look bad and you don't come across them often.

I lived in an urban (really ghetto) town of NJ and always saw how corrupt and abusive they were. Even though I eventually moved to a better area, I still had cops harass me, not because I was breaking the law or had a criminal record (which I don't) but because I was Latino and was driving around an uppity town... which was now my town.

It took about 5 yrs before the bullshit stopped and I started to know folks in the city and government for me to start the bullshit right back. I began questioning cops, any time they would be around, I would question a reason for them being there and get testy and become an asshole as well... why? because I had the same people they had... the politicians and judges behind me.

So, I'm sorry that you feel we are talking about all cops, but we are not. We are talking about the majority that abuse their power and show no remorse when doing something wrong. That's who we hate!!

"It's not fair of us to make such large blanket statements that ALL cops are assholes."

There are pre-requisites to becoming (and staying) a cop. You have to agree to harass people non stop for victimless crime, participate in what actually creates crime... (drug war). You have to maintain the code of silence just to keep your job. Your uncle will not be telling you about that now will he? Depending on your definition of "asshole" It is fair. Somebody who interferes with my inalienable right to live my life how I see fit is indeed an asshole. I'd say in my opinion, but it's not only my opinion, it's true. Yes they are big brown wrinkly asterisks with legs and badges.
