On Monday night, the majority leader met with a concerned group of progressive Senators. He assured them that he remained committed to the public option.
Mr Brown, the leader of the progressive Democrats had confidence that the holdouts would eventually vote for the bill “I don’t think in the end, anybody here in our caucus wants to be on the wrong side of history, wants to kill on a procedural motion, something as important as this...”
Mr. Reid expects the Senate to pass a health care reform bill before Christmas.

I am just laughing a little because, if this passes, I'm gonna guess 30% at least of you little right wingnuts are going to be lining up for it, and damn glad it passed, although you will of course never admit to anyone, including yourself.

Yeah let us know when your party can line itself up to pass this despite all the corporate and special interest money stuffed into its backside.

Public option? So what? It doesn't mean anything.

Your understanding of the problems with the health insurance industry is solid. Your understanding of the potential outcomes of the final health care reform bill is thin to non existent. The current reform bill is having significant difficulty moving forward. It is because of your political naivete apparently, that you think single payer has a chance in hell. Whatever. Can you please make your videos with an off switch so that I can focus on the posted article rather than your magical fairy land propaganda?

For those of you who want socialized medicine go to a socialist country. This is completely un-Constitutional. Even if the house bill is passed nothing happens until 2013. Stop with the lazy gimme attitude that you should have "free" healthcare. It's NOT a right! Lastly, the Feds don't run Medicaid, Medicare, welfare, or Social Security well; what makes you thing they can run socialized healthcare well? Wake up to the left / right paradigm.

its not goin to be free health care, we're still gonna pay for it. dont u get it a healthy consumer and a healthy production line is a good thing for capitalism. and i may be stating a broad interpretation when i say: where does it say its not a right. its the insurance companies that have policies in place like "pre-existing conditions". its not that i dont want to pay for my insurance, its the insurance company that doesnt let me. i mean r we really the richest country in the world, when countries like Cuba and Buhtan have free health care...last i checked their third world. just cause were wealthy doesnt mean were healthy. thank u

First off just saying something is unconstitutional does not make it so.
Also all those "lazy americans" who want access to cheap healthcare are generally the people who clean up after you, serve you food and perform the types of jobs you would prefer not to even think about. So maybe they dont have a college degree... or maybe they do. Either way millions of Americans are stuck at dead end jobs to support their family and lack health insurance. Whats wrong with charging the super rich to ensure the poor get access to the medical care ALL people deserve?

Anyone besides me notice that the states with the highest number of pediatric deaths related to H1N1 are mostly from states with predominantly Republican senators? Clinton's Arkansas and New Mexico being notable exceptions.
You have to look at the first table on the page at the link, and then look at the states in each region (very small print beneath the table), and then check party affiliation.
http://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/
http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm?OrderBy=party...
Region 4 = AL (R+R), FL (R+D), GA(R+R), KY(R+R), MS(R+R), NC(R+D), SC(R+R), TN(R+R)
Region 6= AR (D+D), LA (R+D), NM (D+D), OK (R+R), TX (R+R)

Let's get this thing passed already. I think this whole process underscores why the Senate was such a horrible concession to the slave states. The sooner we get rid of that compromise fossil, the better off the actual majority of Americans will be.

Incorrect, the Senate version of the bill hasn't been released yet, and there is a small business exemption in the house bill.

Really? What kind of health care will the small business your wife works for be forced to provide her with? How much would it cost them? What are you basing this on? I've looked through the senate.gov site and couldn't find where there's a bill the Senate's voting on. From what I read in the article, the senator intends on introducing legislation. Where did you find his draft legislation?
