Soldier mom refuses deployment to care for baby

This is a single parent. She shouldn't have to have to fight the Army, because she had no one to care for the child. He's only 10-months old, and the mother is no longer in a relationship with the father. I know he should bare some responsibility, but we all know the reality of that.
She thought she had a caregiver for the time she would be deployed in Afghanistan, but due to other family problems, her mother had too many people to care for, and couldn't add a baby to that situation. Hopefully, the Army can figure out something, without sending the child to Child Protective Services & deploy the mom anyway, cause that would be wrong.
