So next time you go to smash one of these amazing little dudes, think about getting something like this instead, and letting them outside! : )

Hahaha me too, well the Western version actually... a shot glass and a piece of mail, but you know how obsessed some people are with buying things.

I did not yet see the video Jan posted, so I look forward to checking that out...
But initially I think a point gleaned here may be that, for all our 'brains', our idea of what intelligence is, or how to measure it, is sorely narrow minded and lacking as yet.I posted the following 10 days ago... I am ashamed how little attention folks cared to bring to it considering how huge an issue this is.

I knew the bastards were watching me. Fuck you bugs!! Wait . . . I wonder if I can glue some pencil lead to the bottom of a bug and have it do my homework . . .It's almost too easy.

You don't need a big brain for your natural instincts which dominate all our thoughts, also brain size does matter but it also matters how much of that brain you use. Humans on average only use a fraction, usually 10%, of their brains. What's saying these insects aren't using 50 to 80 percent of theirs?
This study needs more evidence instead of just hypothetical findings.
Also whales and dolphins are believed to have a higher IQ than us by some scientists, it's just they obviously evolved and adapted differently than us so to find their actual IQ is difficult. - 2 years ago

The slide show macro photos are really good showing how amazingly complex these creatures are.

Am I really the first to point out that the title mentions insects while showing a picture of an arachnid?

It's fascinating to see how little brain power is actually required for some of these functions. Insects have been around for an exceptionally long time now, so I guess it makes sense that they've evolved some complex mental functions.

The Hellstrom Chronicles. My father took me to see this when I was twelve years old. It made a lasting impression on me. I recommend people watch it. It is in eleven parts on You Tube. Insects are much smarter and adaptable than we give them credit for. - 2 years ago

The insects' favorite conspiracy theory is that humans are the aliens, and that makes their carapaces tingle.
