Denmark's inhumane, barbarous dolphin slaughter

It's because of the cruelty that the human beings (civilised human) kill hundreds of the famous and intelligent Calderon dolphins.

Consider yourself that same 1% of vegetarians that isn't a total ass the same way you might consider me in the 1% of meat eaters that would kill my own cow. The only person questioning my actions would be you and those that themselves don't have the balls to do it... so they eat vegetables and convince themselves the world would be better if we were all vegetarians.
and yes, i consider my love of meat quite necessary.
"There are several major sources of methane: rice paddies (methane-producing bacteria thrive in the underwater environment), swamps and wetlands (ditto), mining and oil drilling, landfills, termites (although there's still some controversy on this one), "biomass burning" (notably in the Amazon rain forest), and animals."
and EdJoyProductions. . thank you!.. that was the point i was initially trying to bring to light.
this isn't necessarily an overkill for food production.and to finish, you want to talk about suffering beyond your wildest dreams, talk to immigrants from south and central americans. talk to an el salvadoran and ask them about their civil wars, the massacres, the towns of people brutally beaten, raped and shot, then burned and erased off the face of the earth. THAT is real suffering.
give me a cow to slaughter any day over that.

Well, to respond to onechance, there is no comment they were slaughtered to eat. There's no direct statement explaining that they were killed to eat. if that is the case, our lovely poster should have referenced a better site/source that at least talks about the reasons behind such a slaughter rather than a biased page aimed at saving the world's whales.
to quote another commenter on a different site:
" 1) They don't go out of their way to hunt the whales, they only capture the ones that are close inland. The article says they kill about 1000 each year, that's not even a blip compared to commercial whaling. Also it sounds like it's pretty tightly regulated, and the meat is not sold commercially.
2) My point of mentioning that is that they are not driving this species to extinction. They haven't changed the scale of their hunt very much since it began. If pilot whales are at risk (currently listed as low risk), then clearly this custom cannot be blamed for it. It would be like blaming the Native Americans for almost killing off the buffalo."
There are worse things being done by one human to another, and the sad thing is people are more concerned about whales being killed.
If they will be consumed, it's not really an issue. Unfortunately not everything can be done "humanely". Customs and traditions have been passed down through generations, sometimes it is part of a culture to be "inhumane", so long as it is not wasteful, I personally do not have an issue with it.and to the "high horse" comment, yes, the problem is most vegetarians i know, have encountered and meet not only consider themselves "better" humans for not eating meat, but they are constantly subjecting their point of views on people that do. To top it off, I can't eat a beautiful piece of steak in front of one without hearing some comment on how it was killed, or if i can taste the pain my cow suffered. it frustrates me.
I make it a point to know where my meat comes from as best I can. If i can't, it is no fault of mine that large corporations have taken over our United States and mass produce food. It's not ignorance as so many people like to so readily point out. As a person I can only do so much to find out where my food comes from... there is also the fact of monetary greed. I don't think anyone should pay a ridiculous amount of money for "organic" and healthy food, so if i choose to buy a steak at the market rather than pay extra at the butcher shop due to my monthly budget, it's not really my fault.
What happened to making healthy food for everyone. Why is it that I have to pay more money for something that should be healthier for me, just because it is grown organically!?.. that's a load of crap and everyone knows it.
and to say that 99% of meat eaters WILL NEVER slaughter a single animal they eat is kind of stretching it. Give us the opportunity, and I'm sure the majority might surprise you.
It's too bad the car companies bought out the rail systems and covered much of our land with roads, and developers cover the rest with empty homes...or worse yet, shopping centers.
if we had more local farms the world might learn to survive with what they actually need and not what they want. - 2 years ago

Re: "most vegetarians i know, have encountered and meet not only consider themselves "better" humans for not eating meat, but they are constantly subjecting their point of views on people that do"
-Please don't lump me into your stereotype. I'm not "most vegetarians [you] know" and I don't consider myself any "better" than anyone else.Re: "Give us the opportunity, and I'm sure the majority might surprise you"
-You make my point for me, since nobody's going to just walk out of the blue and "give" you, (or most any other meat eater) the "opportunity".Overall, your defensive stance leads me to think that you might very well be questioning your own actions.
Hopefully your mind will stay on that track until you realize that not only is eating meat unhealthy and unnecessary, it's a major cause of starvation in most starving countries, pollution in the whole world, and suffering beyond your wildest dreams for animals (I won't post the real graphic stuff here in respect of people that would be horribly effected...though I am tempted... I'll just let the one picture I posted previously do the "talking").All the best.

this is getting slightly out of hand.. for those vegetarians trying to scare the rest of the world into not eating meat with this have got it all wrong.
animals are slaughtered for food.
just because they come neatly packaged doesn't mean the rest of us are out of touch with the "reality" of the slaughter. i choose to eat meat the same way some of you don't.i fell sad about what happened to these dolphins, but don't try and patronize us for something that happened as a tradition.
get off your high horses and deal with the real issue: some traditions shouldn't be maintained due to the horror and unnecessary slaughter of innocent animals.this isn't a meat or vegetarian issue.

Seriously? High horse? Isn't a meat/veg issue?
What do you think they slaughter them for? Fun?
As for the "high horse" comment, just because some people care and choose to do what's right doesn't mean we think more highly of ourselves. We are just living by example. I'm sure you're a good enough person and I make no judgement on meat-eaters as people. I only question the choices people make, especially if they come from a place of ignorance (since 99% of all meat-eaters will NEVER EVER slaughter a single animal they eat in their entire lifetime).

Yes. If people never see the harsh reality, they will keep living the same lie.
Meat comes packaged in slickly-wrapped neat little ways (or fancily displayed on plates) that detach consumers from the reality of where it REALLY comes from in the first place.
Yes. Everyone should see this picture.

julesrs007, there are acts that are indefensible. This seems to be a ritual rite of passage for young males committed on endangered mammals. This is not for food. You don't have to be a vegetarian to see that this is wrong and speak out against it.
