Diana Arely Pacheco, founder and leader of Diseños Maya de Yucatán/Mayan Designs of the Yucatan, is a 2007 Fellow of the Premio UVM por el Desarollo Social, which is co-sponsored by the Sylvan/Laureate Foundation, the Universidad del Valle de México, and the International Youth Foundation. Diseños Maya promotes economic independence among indigenous people of the Yucatán to preserve Mayan culture.
