The ordinance garnered the support of local veterinarians and animal rescue groups. They emphasized that not sterilizing animals is irresponsible pet ownership and can lead to rampant reproduction, especially among cats that end up on the streets.

I have five cats and two dogs one is a pitbull the other is a pitbull mix I had the male fixed at two years and the female at a year and a half. The cats I had all but one fixed. My male pit I had fixed because his father went crazy and had to be put down. I did not want that to happen to my dog so I had him fixed it seems to be working so far. He is now four years old and doing great. My female pitbull mix I had fixed because she is not a pure breed. The cats I had fixed because well there are just to many cats out there. I really feel it is the right thing to do. The only reason not to get your dogs and cats fixed is ???? Be responsible do the right thing.

I can't say I disagree with the ruling. Pet owners need to be more responsible.
from the article:
Tarkanian said that after talking to veterinarians, she thought 4 months was too young and that she wouldn't vote for anything that required sterilization under age 6 months.I have adopted a couple of cats an both my dogs. The cats were fixed at about 3 months and the dogs about the same time. No problems have arose from it.
It is a fact that cats and dogs can and will be ready to breed by the age of 6 months...so get them fixed ASAP. - 2 years ago
