There is nothing free in global trading when country's we deal with have huge tariff's for our products and we lose jobs to company's that move out of our country. The only winners are global corporations.

    • I'd be in the yellow group, I'm glad to know that idea hasn't left france and its also good to know its floating around in other countries in some amount if any.

I toiled over possible economic reforms, and possible systems in college with no real system guaranteed to work better. Its maddening because I advocate socialism as a temporary alternative to capitalism but even that system is flawed like the others because of its limits. I could go on about all the problems with every style of economic system but the real problem is that these systems are at the mercy of mankind.

For example If we have an enlightened leadership then we can benefit but if we have the opposite the nation can die, athens is my favorite example for this. They had good leaders, bad ones and then a series of coups, then it was whomever had the strongest arm ruled, they had created democracy and they instantly went into empire building, it was not until they literally were destroyed by sparta and persia that they became the center of intellectualism. Athens main weakness was again its human run monetary system, humans as much as we like ourselves are flawed creatures. We get moody, angry, over zealous, desperate, hungry, glory seeking and those kinds of things influence our behavior which if you're running a nation can destroy many lives simply because you have issues.

Anyway for the sake of talking too much I came across a group called the venus project who advocates a resource based economy with technology liberating the work from mankind allowing our species to pursue higher needs which would benefit and elevate the quality of life for all without the need for money or leaders. I'm going to just post the links and their video to make it easier, my hand is fractured sooo typing isn't my strength for a while.

    • It's not Capitalism that is the problem. As with any effective system, the problems are mostly human ones. Even Adam Smith knew some government regulation would be necessary. The issue is corporate lobbying on that regulation, not the system itself.

We would likely have worse problems in the United States if it were more socialist; it's just not feasible.

    • We must get capitalism in check before it makes such a fool of itself that people shun it. It's not a bad system as long as there are measures to prevent extortion and cheating. (those measures are called socialism, by the way)

I find it interesting that our breakdown is very similar to Pakistan's

It's a fallacy to assume that consumption is the only factor that matters.

The US economy is major, but remember the EU produces about 93% of what we do. We aren't far and away the most major singular economy like it used to be.

    • I'd be a part of that blue group there, it has serious issues that need to be addressed.

But that's not news, it's been true since 1850 and there's a concentrated conspiracy, especially in America, to try and make people forget that. It's not in a Megacorp's interest to let you know that they use child slavery to make your products overseas.

    • Didn't France deal with this in their last revolution? Break out guillotine. The governments relationship with wall street is still the problem.
