Hell man, the moment we can no longer find humor in just about every aspect of live we may as well give up. Jokes are OK with me. I tell them about muself sometimes to lighten the mood....heres one for ya.............when I was young, the teacher came up to me and said...Chris, you are going to have to start riding the short bus next week.....my reply.......Why? I'm the tallest kid in class.....Gotta find humor in every aspect of life right????

Sometimes my friend you hit the nail on the head. My good buddy of the road Ihatetheall. A sense of humor is just about all i have left. That was funny chris you were tallest kid on the short bus. When we can't make fun of ourselves we need too be really worried. Reminds me of my late irish grandmother and kind of puts you and me in a road map "Oh you take the high road and I'll take the low road, but I'll get to Scotland before ye" remember that one. She was always singing through life even when she was dying at the ripe age of 90. Words of wisdom from the old grand lady Anne Glenn.

Yes it is one thing they can never take from us. Our sense of humor.

Yes I remember that one. I have an Irish Grandmother too. 100% She's a great lady. Sounds like your grandma was just as great.

Damn right we are Kenny. I will have to remember to say happy ST. Patricks day to ya in March. In Chicago the city used to turn the Chicago River green for that day. Lots of good ole Irish folks in that town. Its too bad they had to stop a year ago because others thought it wasnt right to celebrate the Irish heritage anymore.

Are you kidding me? I always thought that turning the river green was the coolest thing for us Irish and now they stopped it? So typical for the Irish and the scottish to get stabbed just when your getting the recognition. As long as we have those Irish memory's they can't take that and our sense of humor from us as you said.

Yes they stopped it just this year. I am sure if you google search it something would come up about it. Thats right. they cant take our memories or our sense of humor.

I am outta here for the rest of the week Kenny. May you and yours have a happy Turkey day from me and mine. I hope your better half is doing well. Send her our best. She is still in our prayers. HappyTurkey Day Kenny. Catch ya over the weekend..

    • The cartoon forgot social security in the 40's and medicare in the 60's.

It's amusing that conservatives criticize as socialist, even though they don't even know that that means, a bill that was a god damn COMPROMISE with Corporate Fascists.

If you guys think this is socialism, then what does that make senators like Dennis Kucinich? Reincarnations of Mao Zedong and Vladimir Lenin?

It's pathetically nonsensical. Read a history book or open up a dictionary. Otherwise, refrain from speaking.

And as far as the public water goes.....lets just say I am glad I live in a rural area and have my own well....... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milwaukee_Cryptosporidium_outbreak

      Bad things happen

Public highways...they are a joke. A fucking joke. Anyone who drives as much as I do will tell ya that. Even Kennymotown himself should be able to admit that. He's a trucker. The taxes they collect on them are insane. I pay 550 dollars a year EVERY year for each truck I own just to have the right to buy fuel and then pay more taxes on it. Pathetic..its called the heavy highway use tax...google it.

I then have to report to each state how many miles I drove in each state and pay each state a tax for every mile I drove in those state. I have to do this every quarter. Yes in case you are wondering, Its a lot of bookkeeping

Lets not forget just what type of students they are graduating from those public schools. The graduation rate at best is 50 percent in the cities. At one point in Chicago it was 38% success OR failure.

Do you consider that a success? I consider it a miserable failure. Actually The entire article proves why the feds should stay the hell outta healthcare. Can any one actually say the the above items listed are government programs that are running at a successful rate????

      Public schools....A JOKE
Public water system....in many cities FAILING, OLD, WORN OUT. NEEDS SERIOUS REPAIR
Public Highways....Well do I even need to tell ya what shape the roads are in....

Parks...well the state parks in CA are cutting services or shutting down. THEY ARE BROKE

Governments, State or feds, cant run anything worth a fuck because of waste and corruption

You post such flagrant bullshit it's difficult to know where to begin with you.

You bitch about highways that wouldn't exist without government and then have the audacity to bitch about taxes levied on that road fairly because people like you oppose taxes in all shapes and forms.

If you want someone to blame for your shitty government, look no further than yourself. You vote in anti-government conservatives who have been in power now for 28 years. Surprise surprise, your government sucks.

And then, you apply this same miscarriage of logic to public schools, when they're at their lowest funding in the history of this country and purposefully destroyed by private interests looking for dumbass Americans to unquestioningly work their jobs and vote for their candidates.

It's brilliant conservative propaganda, ruin the government and then say government sucks.

Government sucks because YOU suck. Because you could give two shits about education and public welfare. You want things taken care of for you but despise public works and then have the audacity to wonder why your public works suck. They suck because you elect people who make them suck on purpose to appease people like YOU.

People who believe in privatization DO NOT STRIVE to make the government better, it's direct conflict with their interests.

So why do you even wonder why government fails? Because you have no interest in it, don't involve yourself with it, don't strive to make it better and are not at all involved with your community. You'd rather have cradel-to-grave welfare from corporations.

And we haven't had anyone running this country, not even Obama or Clinton, who cared to do it any other way.

In fact, we haven't had anyone since LBJ that cared to run government the way it's supposed to be run.

California is a great example, conservatives like you pass Prop 13 because you buy into government rhetoric. Then Republicans sit back and veto anything that comes their way that would fix the state, ruining government in the process.

We used to be one of the best states in the union, now we're 50th in school funding and #1 in prison population.

And whaddya know, all those prisons seem to be privately run and the pubic schools now partially funded by the private sector. Efficient indeed, just not for you.

This, of course, is a simplification. There are a lot reasons government sucks, mainly the intervention of the Federal Reserve and other large banking institutions. But a conservative who bitches about the failure of government is like a warhawk complaining that his government starts too many wars.

Gee buddy, did you ever think it might have to do WITH THE ASSHOLES YOU VOTE IN?

No, of course not, much easier to be apathetic and say "I hate them all," even though you clearly don't, because it relieves you of the responsibilities of being an American citizen.

^^^ I couldn't have said it better myself (except for the whole fed thing, but I'll let it go).

Mall hater, your business wouldn't exist AT ALL if it weren't for the socialism that is the highway system. I wonder what proportion of your revenue goes out in the taxes that make your business possible? 5%, 10%?

What about what you pay for FICA/medicare? 3%?

I disagree, I think the government works exceptionally well and very cost effectively because it is the only entity that can operate AT COST.

Gee buddy, did you ever think it might have to do WITH THE ASSHOLES YOU VOTE IN?......WRONG>>>>>> the last time I voted for a president that got in was Clinton

You bitch about highways that wouldn't exist without government and then have the audacity to bitch about taxes levied on that road fairly because people like you oppose taxes in all shapes and forms...............Do you have ANY working knowledge of how much road taxes I pay? NO You dont. Until you do, you havent a clue how much I pay. I have the right to bitch about anything I want. Dont like it????? DONT FUCKIN READ IT. You know me and my name. Why the fuck dont you just pass right over me????

So why do you even wonder why government fails? Because you have no interest in it, don't involve yourself with it, don't strive to make it better and are not at all involved with your community. You'd rather have cradel-to-grave welfare from corporations..WRONG-------I am active in my community and involve myself in local government. I am sure my local reps are tired of hearing from me. Their phone numbers are saved in my cell phone.

CREDIT_______ disagree, I think the government works exceptionally well and very cost effectively because it is the only entity that can operate AT COST.-----I dont evw how to respond to someone who thinks that the Government works well. That is a joke.

None of you know how much I pay in Road taxes. You havent a clue. In some cases I pay more in road taxes than most of you make. Then we could add in the TOLL ROADS....40 bucks just to cross the GW and get into NYC. A fuckin rip. Have any oiven across that bridge? They sure as fuck dont use all that money to fix the roads.

Soooooo rather than blaming the fact that roads are poorly funded and thus put an undue burden on users that should be extracted from other sources, you blame government period. Awesome.

And the fact that you bitch to your representatives isn't part of being an active member of the community, especially if you're just bitching that they suck and should lower your taxes.

Furthermore, I can and will respond to any dumb thing you say. Don't like the criticism, then tell your dog. Your ideas stand on their merits on the internet.

"I think the government works exceptionally well and very cost effectively because it is the only entity that can operate AT COST.-----I dont evw how to respond to someone who thinks that the Government works well. That is a joke."

I think you mean, at a loss, anything operates on cost.

And profit is not a margin of success when you're providing a service, that's fucking blatantly obvious, you'd have to be a moron to not see that.

If Medicare runs at a loss but saves half a million lives more than the private system does, it's a fucking success. That's because the government provides services for the public welfare, it's not interested in making money. Believe it or not, making money at the expense of others is not always a good thing. Herp derp, who knew?

If you don't like it, you can drive across country and never drink tap water, that would be a good protest.

I'm tired of hearing anti-government rhetoric when the fact of the matter is we don't really have a government in this country, we have a fucking corporate plutocracy masquerading as a government.

Then people have the audacity to say the private sector fixes everything and it would do better if it was just left alone, then people wonder why all the jobs go overseas, why all the drugs are unsafe, why industrial waste somehow ends up in our water, why we have a bunch of wars for profit and why their local government can't seem to get anything right.

It's because you voted for Reagan and his ilk and have never attempted to understand why it is that government can't do its job.

My personal favorite is when people blame the government for the bailouts, oh boy is that a hoot. Powerful bankers hold a gun to the nation's head and it's the government's fault for giving them what they want. Let's deregulate some more just to celebrate!

Of course, all of that is ignoring that everything besides your rant about taxes has been disproved.

Apathy and blind hatred are not impressive, they're childish. There's nothing intelligent about closing your eyes and pointing your finger in every direction as a source for your problems.

IHATETHEMALL: You do indeed have every right to bitch and complain about whatever you want. You even have the right to vote against it all. Anyone who says you should not, or that you should shut up is opposed to free speech and the idea of discussion and learning about viewpoints that are not the same as ones own. This is the attitude that locks people into a single mindset and becomes dangerous fanatical adherence to a single frame of thought. The idea that the Democrats in office right now care about "the people" is a complete idiocy. And this is coming from a FLAMING liberal like myself.

The only other thing I will comment on is, you may grow all the food, and provide it to me, but it is ME that provides YOU with the opportunity at profit from such a venture. Everything is interdependent...;)...

I may not agree with you on all issues, but I think if we can not have rational discussions about opposing viewpoints, we will never grow as a people. I respect your opinion, and your labor and your right to both.

I didnt write the first part of that statement. I just did the copy and paste thing, then responded to it after the dashes.

I do not call my reps to bitch about taxes. That will not do me any good. I call and tell them what I think about the issues they will be voting on in the future. You made the comment about me not being involved with local GOV. I am. I am not involved in communit organizing. I do volunteer at the local animal shelters and have for 23 years now on and off or with local churches. I dont know what you call that but notheless I do. I also dont live in a community. I live on a farm I have to drive 10 miles just to get to a town.

If you don't like it, you can drive across country and never drink tap water, that would be a good protest.................I dont drink tap water. I fill gallon jugs from my well. I am very rarely gone long anymore so I never have any issues with running out of water..Not a protest, its just what I do.

    • 1,100 dollars a year is added to my health insurance through my company healthcare provider every year to cover though s that are not covered that end up in emergency rooms, that is my FINE, thats my raise being eaten up every year for the past 5 years. Those that can't afford insurance will get government assistance in helping pay for their insurance even if you are 300% above the poverty line or below.

So who's the bad guy here, Kenny? Me, for not having healthcare INSURANCE, thus not using any healthcare, or the insurance gouls who say to you, "Well, we have to get our bonuses and our golden parachutes, so you have to pay an extra $1100.00/yr? Sounds like you are now defending the poor insurance corporations who are getting hit too hard by all of us mean, uninsured folk. Of course, they would never consider making even one penny less in their exorbitant salaries to absorb THEIR losses. They pass that on to you. But hey, let's all give them even more, they're hurting so bad.

isnamthere, I would not say it is the uninsured that can't afford health insurance. I know all to well and you can tell by my posts I am for hanging the insurance company execs. All I am saying is those that don't carry insurance and can afford it should get in the pool cause I know this proposed legislation is a piece of crap but it is a starting point and this battle is not over. If you can't afford it government will help financially for now and we need to keep working for single payer and kicking the insurance mobsters to the curb.

Well if people that can afford healthcare and are going without there probably should be fine, but if you are at 300% above the poverty level or below you will not be penalized. A bigger pool of people to be insured makes everybody's costs go down. Right now I am insured and everyone who isn't covered and ends up going to the emergency room is costing those insured a penalty of 1,100 dollars a year, what do you say about the fine I'm paying now. Nothing right?

lol ibrake4rappers13 - nice job at a little fear mongering yourself! did u watch the video at all? since you didn't, I'll assist. around 1:09 Pelosi explains the penalty. Around 3:03 Obama does the same. As usual with teabaggers your argument is weak and/or self-contradictory. it's like avoiding paying taxes: there is a slow and steady increase in the penalty.

it's hilarious to me that teabaggers are suddenly so worried about debt and spending. When war criminals bush and cheney were funnelling your tax dollars to kill iraqi civilians, you didn't say anything. Why, it's like teabaggers already had something in their mouths........
