I thought it would be appropriate to post this video made by fully qualified people on the subject of the Swine Flu, so as to neutralize all the hysterical nonsense and rumors that have been spreading on the internet and in various other media which has been creating totally unfounded fears in people.

    • Vierotchka:

AIDS doesn't kill people, neither does HIV, it is the opportunistic infections that kill people with the virus or the disease; when the immune system is not capable of fighting them off. Very true V.

Sorry I misunderstood what you were talking about. You were talking about the H1N1. It was my doctor who told me that the excessive immune reactions were causing too much fluids to build up in the lungs of really healthy people. It makes sense that pneumonia would settle in if the body cannot get rid of the fluids building up in the lungs.

    • I thought it was ironic that my doctor told me that because of my compromised immune system that I would likely not have as bad a reaction to the H1N1 flu as people with normal immune systems. It is the immune response and its excessive reaction that has been killing normally healthy people.

    • I had the H1N1 flu, everyone in my house ended up getting it. None of us had the vaccine, first of all because it is impossible to get, and second the flu was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. We had fevers, coughing, sore throat, fatigue, body pain, sweating, and some vomiting. But its amazing what Vitamin D, A, and C can do when you have the flu; along with drinking lots of fluids, chicken soup, juices, water, and using Vicks vapor rub on my chest and around my neck and a dab just below the nostrils to keep the breathing passages open.

All in all the flu lasted a week at my house, and we have 8 people living here.

    • Pharmaceutical Companies charge an average of 12$ per shot.
Novartis had a 60% gain in 9 months.
Shot the foot the other day when the realization set in.

    • I was concerned about my seven year old getting this virus because he has had a less than normal medical history. He caught the virus in September and was over it in 24 hours. No one else in our household caught it. Strange..

Then what your child had was most certainly not a flu virus - influenza, whether seasonal or of the Swine Flu variety affects the healthiest people for several days. What your kid had was the famous 24 hour bug, that's all.

    • So, you can email the above details to whoever sent you that silly email, and choose "reply to all" so that all those who received that nonsense can ease their minds. :)

    • There is no "Year of the Bird" in Chinese Astrology, neither is there a "Year of the Cow".

      The Chinese Astrology signs are:

      Rat
      Horse
      Ox
      Sheep
      Tiger
      Monkey
      Rabbit
      Rooster
      Dragon
      Dog
      Snake
      Pig

Furthermore, this year is not the year of the Pig (or Boar):

2006 was the Year of the Dog
2007 was the Year of the Pig (or Boar)
2008 was the Year of the Rat.
2009 is the Year of the Ox
2010 will be the Year of the Tiger

    • This funny just sent to my e-mail directly after the link to this posting. So I had to pass it along.

"I'm not really concerned about swine flu. Here's my concern.

      • 3 years ago, Chinese calendar year of the cow . . . Mad Cow disease.

      • 2 years ago, Chinese calendar year of the bird . . . Avian flu.

      • This year, Chinese calendar year of the pig . . . Swine flu.

Next year is the year of the cock . . . Anybody else worried?"
