Turks refuse to play Israeli national anthem for world chess tournament winner

Marcel Efroimski, a 13-year-old Israeli chess prodigy, yesterday became the Girls' Under-14 World Chess Champion when she won the Gold Medal for her age group at the World Youth Chess Championships held in Turkey. During the awards ceremony, the Islamic supremacist Turkish authorities refused to play the Israeli National Anthem, as is required at such ceremonies. However, young Marcel would not play the dhimmi. She stood on the podium and raised her trophy with an expression of defiance -- as you can see from the photo, in which she stands in front of an image of the malignant Ataturk.

Kudos, Marcel. With that, you became more than just a winner. You became a hero.

    • Incidents like this should be used to bar such countries as Turkey from hosting any future international competitions. If they have their heads stuck so far in the sand (to phrase it more nicely), then they deserve to be shunned.

Why even let the Israeli girl compete if you are going to refuse to recognize her country when/if she wins?
