For people who have homes that are prone to moisture problems, a dehumidifier is one of their best bets for avoiding common hassles like mold and mildew.

However, new building technologies could eventually lend people a hand when it comes to avoiding mold.

For example, an article in Asheville, North Carolina's Citizen-Times newspaper describes a new product called "hempcrete," which is a mix of hemp, water and lime. The walls produced by the material are said to be so strong that they can last for up to 800 years.
