Dobbs' Populist ideals could be compatible with liberals, but Dobbs frequently turned to blame and inadequately responded to racist charges. He would go into anti-elitist rants and failed to differentiate the corporate elite from intellectualism. His failure was largely in his inability to communicate. Dobbs came across as a gruff, irritated and immodest old rooster.
Dobbs' scored points in the early part of the decade. The Meritocracy was disappearing. Few people see a relation between hard work and money. Education is being stolen away as the price of an education rises from the reach of millions. American workers have to compete with workers that live without health, safety, and environmental standards. The definition of Free trade could not possibly be considered Fair Trade.
It's sad today that some people suggest that he could work for FOX news. These people missed the better part of Dobbs. FOX news would more likely have Olberman.
