He shouldn't have been let out of prison by Huckabee, or let out on bail in Washington. The good news is his days of harming people are over.

Yes, he probably "resisted arrest."
The cops had "no choice" but to shoot him... (hopefully, at least 30 times)
Good. Fuck this guy, he got what he sowed for himself. Unfortunately, this is the kind of person that is worth the $31K a year to put him away. Too bad we couldn't give him that, but the world is a safer, better place now.

Whenever something like this happens, it only makes the rest of the cops in the country more paranoid.
Where I live cops are already too paranoid and this makes matters worse.Curious fact here: In early 1980, the recidivism rate, overall, for prisoners was 17%. After Reagan pulled funding for rehabilitation and prisons went private, the recidivism rate jumped to 35%.
That doesn't mean this guy could have been helped...it is just a stat I found during research.

Lots of unanswered questions. The people that was helping him will know more about this particular incident; but with him dead, we may never really know the truth.
Why they would not of taken him alive makes me seriously wonder why. Call me skeptical!!! - 2 years ago

Tragic end to a tragic situation.
But one has to wonder if a preemptive shoot to kill order was given due to the nature of his crime regardless of if he chose to resist arrest or go peacefully.
I am not by any means condoning what he did nor sympathizing with him. I am just questioning how he was taken down. I hope they got the right man.

Aint that the damn truth. Its the definition of insanity, we keep trying the same failed system over and over each time hoping for better results. - 2 years ago

"repeating the same behavior and expecting a different result is insanity." i know i've heard that before...would you know the origin?

There are thousands of very angry people, in varying states of sanity - who have walked a very unpleasant life in and from the criminal justice system. Certainly they are responsible, but also, they are pressed against an environment - that includes the harsh reactive world of the present justice system.
The prisons and their solitary-confinement blocks can be cauldrons of the insane. And the authorities are people not trained nor inclined to positive interdictions. If fact, there is no possible help, only continued decline.
Such is the past and foundation of the situation with this man.

It's still not known why Maurice Clemmons would have killed the police offers thought he does have a history of violent crime. Anger has emerged in the US after it emerged that Clemmons had been freed from a 95-year prison sentence in 2000 by governor Mike Huckabee, who went up against Obama in the presidential race.

Huckabee didn't release this man. He communted the sentence to 45 years instead of the 95 year sentence. It was recommended by teh Judge and the other case workers. Yes Huckabee must take some heat for it, but your response is not the truth
