Antarctica may heat up dramatically as ozone hole repairs, warn scientists

The hole in the Earth's ozone layer has shielded Antarctica from the worst effects of global warming until now, according to the most comprehensive review to date of the state of the Antarctic climate. But scientists warned that as the hole closes up in the next few decades, temperatures on the continent could rise by around 3C on average, with melting ice contributing to a global sea-level increases of up to 1.4m.

    • As towards reading the article Bob...yes and although it was interesting the Ultra violet radiation part was a little glossed over...as if no one knew that the planet may have been being genetically up-dated by these two open ozone holes..that the human is being prepared for this new global earth transition....
If you have limited questions how will you ever open up to the external informative responses we recieve everymoment of our lives..
If you become a natural receptor for the planet and learn by her laws you will become more permeable to what actually goes on here ...
We live on an organic globe and so are influenced all the time by what moves through us...only by taking out the Personality of influence of your life..will you ever discover your true core and be at one with everything..

    • My apologies bob...I should have given you ..Ufo the greatest story ever denied....very interesting....
If offers a great insight into the Unseen worlds...thats Infra-Red territories e.t.c...that you dont relate to most of the time because it is not usually seen...the Unknown?
Science has always had great discoveries that have been constructive..so my critisism of scientists does not come from not reading and taking account of different publications..but more from the fact that Evidence (recent global warming reports for instance as 1 example)cannot be taken as the full story..as reports can be altered to suit....
And so it is far better to have an open ended theory that can then be disscussed by all interested parties..than a conclusive determined fact determined by a few....
One of the most recent discoveries by science now is that there is a Hole in the Magnetosphere of the planet as well...more food for thought....
If you follow a path strewn with debris then it is best to clear it as you go along your way..so according to the tools you use and the fineness of your cleaning you will gradually uncover the surface of your particular path....
The main difference here between us is that Natural Education from the planet offers me more ..than scientific evidence...Instinct versus 20TH century culture...I know which way my path is causing me to pursue..do you...
Have faith in your own research instead of others all the time..you will be surprised at what you can see....

    • thats the great thing about science...its allowed to change everything it says about anything and still expects to be believed?
There are supposed to be 2 ozone holes..that allow in ultra violet radiation..which can alter the genetic structures of lives...but you will have to confirm this by real research on your own account..otherwise the scientists will prove this not to be the case...?
Also if you google 'the greatest story never told..you will see video of an organic life form that is natural to this planet...that eats carbon..?
But again you will have to do your own research to put this one together....
Life is so fascinating when you are Not a scientist as well...

That's the great thing about science. In order to be believed, you have to produce evidence. This evidence is available to everyone. So, if you ever question a scientific theory, or a scientific claim, you can see the research yourself, and make your own judgments. Also, in order for a a hypothesis to be considered a theory, many other scientists must review the data and come up with the same conclusion. And yes, theories do change when new evidence is produced. It's called, not holding on to the same idea when contradictory evidence is found. By all means, look at the data yourself. Make a judgment and accept or deny the theory. But first, understand what the theory is. Last thing, I googled what you told me. I found no such video. Butttt, there are these things called trees that do eat carbon. So, figure that one out.

One more thing, did you actually READ THE ARTICLE??????? It fully explains why the continent is warming up, and it makes sense. So, please think and understand what you are talking about before you open up your mouth.

i read the article and the sticking point for me is that they used to say with presumed certainty that the hole was causing warming, now they say that as the hole closes its getting warmer. so its warmer with the hole and without the hole? seems to me that we dont understand the climate as much as some people would want you to believe.
