PETA sent "Bin Laden Bites" to Troops
The “Bin Laden Bites” are being marketed as dairy-free “delights” that will give U.S. troops in Afghanistan a way to get “some sweet revenge by taking a bite out of Osama’s head.”
Lindsay Rajt, manager of the campaign division of PETA, told CNSNews.com that the organization was inspired to send the candies to the troops following news reports “that chocolates are almost as hard to find in Afghanistan as an oceanfront.”
“We decided to include the chocolates in PETA’s catalog in memory of the animals who died of starvation and dehydration when their guardians were killed in the attacks on the World Trade Center,” Rajt said, noting that some animals were left without care after their owners died in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.
PETA says other animals died when apartments were sealed off following the attacks, including dogs, cats, “companion” rats and mice, guinea pigs, gerbils, rabbits, and fish.
Rajt said that 500 “Bin Laden Bites” boxes, containing five pieces of candy and valued at $15 each, will be sent to U.S. troops in Afghanistan.
In PETA’s online holiday gift catalog the candies are offered along with a “practical guide to animal rights” and other PETA merchandise.
“When we heard our troops in Afghanistan hungered for some chocolate, we jumped at the opportunity to send them some dairy-free delectable delights and even made a tastily topical design just for the occasion,” the catalog description says. “When the troops sink their teeth into our savory, vegan chocolate Bin Laden Bites by Harbor Candy, they’ll satisfy their confectionery craving while getting some sweet revenge by taking a bite out of Osama’s head.”
Rajt said that PETA did not intend any political message with the candy offering, but hoped they “will bring a smile to the faces of soldiers stationed in Afghanistan.”
“The chocolates help spread a message of compassion,” Rajt said.

For once, I'm not annoyed by something they did. I still have to laugh about it.

swatting a fly is wrong but pretending to bite the head off of a person is okay. You might say bin Laden deserves it but its just like the right lifers, abortion is wrong but then we forget about the children born poor and unwanted. Come on PETA your suppose to be ethical.

holy crap PETA didn't have anything to say about the damn fly until they were called repeatedly by the press for comment. Their comment? "He's human"
I think it's tasteless like a lot of PETA ads, but so was the Victoria's Secret fashion show. At least they aren't killing animals for fur like VS...
And hell, I know three guys in Afghanistan. I asked them what they thought and the unanimous response was "fucking funny"

Instead they kill a huge number of domestic cats and dogs just because. -_-
And for your information, they have farms for the animals that are used to make coats and such. That actually helps the species' survive in the face of poachers who don't care about rules and regulations, as do the ethical game ranches that exist.
PS: I used to be a crazy animal-rights extremist, so I'm qualified to speak on this.
