Liberals Handbook: Cloward-Piven Strategy

akamaial
~ The “Cloward-Piven Strategy” seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.

~ When President Barack Obama entered office in January, the greatest problem America faced was neither the war in Afghanistan nor the recession. It was the imminent crisis of the welfare state.
~ Not only has Obama failed to deal with this crisis, he is pursuing policies that will bankrupt America.

~ In March, the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, led by former U.S. Comptroller General David Walker, calculated the total value of the federal government’s “unfunded liabilities” as they stood at the end of fiscal 2008. ~ These liabilities include the publicly held portion of the national debt plus the amount the government must pay to cover all the entitlement benefits it has promised to living Americans through Social Security, Medicare and other welfare-state programs minus the tax revenue the government can expect to collect to pay for these entitlements under existing tax law.
~ The sum of these unfunded liabilities, the foundation discovered, stood at $56.4 trillion. That equals $435,000 for every full-time worker in the United States.

~ There is plenty blame to go around for the financial crash. Yet, there is a distinct odor of the shadowy Cloward-Piven strategy as the taproot of abusive practices that triggered the crisis. The strategy's goal is to bring about the fall of capitalism by overloading and undermining government bureaucracy.
~ Its supporting tactics include flooding government with impossible demands until it slowly cranks to a stop; overloading electoral systems with successive tidal waves of new voters, many of them bogus; shaking down banks, politicians in Congress, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development for affirmative-action borrowing; and, now, pulling down the national financial system by demanding exotic, subprime mortgages for low-income Americans with little hope of repaying their loans. These toxic mortgages are an important source of the foul smell engulfing the entire financial bailout.

    • What scares me about our Prez is he never, NEVER talks about America's greatness, our freedom or our lifestyle. Me thinks he is out to knock down the middle class because the Alinsky types hate the middle class for some reason.

This man is NOT upholding the constitution of the United States and should therefore be impeached on those grounds.

    • I would argue that conservatives, who have long sought to do away with any domestic spending not related to corporate welfare, are more inclined to want to bankrupt the nation in order to do away with the majority of the New Deal and Great Society social advancements.

As for Obama, he is well vested in the Bilderburger and Bohemian Grove crowd - just like Clinton and every other President regardless of party affiliation - and I find it highly likely that the Dems and Reps are merely two sides of the same coin.

    • It is hard to get everyday American's to realize the impact of Obama's policies will have on this country because of the economic plight that we find ourselves. The recession is an example of Government out of control not just Obama, Bush, Clinton.

The main problem that we have today is the un-holy trinity of Obama - Reid - Pelosi not to mention the like minded Judges in power. This un-holy trinity is accelrating our path to pure Socialism by using Cloward-Piven strategies and Saul Alinsky tatics.

    • Great: "using the poor as cannon-fodder" --- Let's blame the poor for the bad mortgages. What a wonderful strategy for success.

Somebody once said, "The poor will always be with us," So let's use it to our advantage and walk on their backs and faces to feather our nests. We can blame them for the consequences.

OR, we can figure out a fix for this mess. Got any ideas that don't involve the blame game?

kennymo, you continually amaze me, that you don't, can't or won't see the uncontrolled and destructive ideological momentum that our nation is on that affects us all - really gives me pause to wonder.... are you all there?

Kennymo, my ideology? It is your Obamessiah that is attempting to initiate the Cloward-Piven strategy upon us, and you don't even have a freaking clue! Have you even reviewed the content and scope of what has been laid out here? Or for that matter, from which political party that feeds upon such propaganda?... 1st clue - it sure as hell isn't conservative America!

kennymo, you perceive me as an elitist? - 'wow', what a mis-read!
I, as well as you, regardless of "affiliations" are in fact, the "common" people, and it is my plight, as well yours that I'm alarmed about.
The unfolding of current events and the course they are upon should be cause of much examination, reflection and concern instead of blind partisan loyalty.... surely, is that not so?

kenmo has obviously taken the bait that progressives feed their naive sheep. First they provide a victim -- ie minorities, gays, uninsured, poor etc, then they provide a villiain ie conservatives, joe the plumber, sarah palin etc for the sheep to get outraged at, then they provide the solution for the sheep to get even with this unfair world ---- just trust big daddy govnment and he will solve all your problems and get even with mr evil conservative, all you have to do is hand over EVERYTHING to the benovolent government(scam artists). This explains why kenmo still thinks this is a repub vs demorat problem, he doesn't understand that this is a ruuuuze to take over everything.
What else can we do but feel sad for these lost people?

I don't think that makes sense.

If Bob earns $100,000 dollars, and the government takes $100,000, they taxed him 100%. Bob then has to go to Govt shops to get his food coupons, go to a doctor to get his govt. funded care, etc. But there was still a 100% tax on his income.

The only other model I see would be slavery: he is forced to work for free, but his clothes, medical care, food etc is "given to him" by the government. In that case, there is NO income, but somehow the government has to reap the benefits of his work. So in that case the govt would be selling the goods/services he provides. But that's not exactly the scenario you stated.

    • i've never heard of this before..and although it seems to make some sense, it is a bit hard to swallow...still, I've seen it applied in Venezuela, and I've often compared Chavez and Obama so...maybe I'll take some time to research this and think about it some more. I'd rather just believe they are all idiots in Washington...this is a scenario that is much harder to digest.

    • How could we possibly be surprised at this news when we have elected the most inexperienced, far left president we've ever had, one who has always worked to make sure our government provides a free life for as many folks as it will. His administration is just a continuation of his entire political career. If we had bothered to look, we would have known all this from the get-go. His goal, and the goal of his cronies, is to redistribute everyone's wealth, give to the have-nots what the haves have worked for. We would have known this all along if we had paid attention.

    • There was the argument today on The Barry Young Show that if the Gov. created more jobs and programs in Government, that they could fix the staggering unemployment & financial deficit. HA HA and of course extending unemployment benefits for a third time into next year, Yes trust the Government to make everything alright!

    • Once WE are comfortable with all the helping of the 'hurting poor' the dropping of the other shoe happens.
George Hurbert Walker Bush (41st president) started the rolling of the ball toward the One World Government. It will follow because WE the 'richest country in the world' will be sucked dry helping everyone else and continuing over time will cause us, the 'good old USA' to become a third world country. With the working poor in this country suffering from all the bleeding heart generaousity we feel robbing us through the UN.
The UN will creat other rich elites like Kofi Annan and his croonies......as we fall into disrepair.

    • It's been coming. By trying to 'help' the economy with illogical fixes, it creats a long term echo.
The liberal socialists WANT everyone BUT the money controllers to hurt economically. If WE hurt we will except their help WITH OUR tax money.
WE will then FINANCE THEIR 'feel good' social programs to feed and shelter all the poor souls who need our help MORE than US.

    • ~ It should be clear to anyone with a mind and two eyes that this president and this Congress do not have our interests at heart. They are implementing this strategy on an unprecedented scale by flooding America with a tidal wave of poisonous initiatives, orders, regulations, and laws. As Rahm Emmanuel said, “A crisis is a terrible thing to waste.”
~ The real goal of “health care” legislation, the real goal of “cap-and-trade,” and the real goal of the “stimulus” is to rip the guts out of our private economy and transfer wide swaths of it over to the government to control. Do not be deluded by the propaganda. These initiatives are vehicles for change. They are not goals in and of themselves except in their ability to deliver power. They and will make matters much worse, for that is their design.
~This time, in addition to overwhelming the government with demands for services, Obama and the Democrats are overwhelming political opposition to their plans with a flood of apocalyptic legislation. Their ultimate goal is to leave us so discouraged, demoralized, and exhausted that we throw our hands up in defeat. As Barney Frank said, “the middle class will be too distracted to fight.”

*** Sadly, it appears that they (liberal socialosts) have damned near completed the goal of destroying America...

    • akamaial:

lovelander, fair point, but tax cuts have been proven, time and again, to stimulate the economy far faster than government spending, and in a more sustainable manner. The problem is NOT the tax cuts, it's the growth of government spending simultaneously. We should reduce deficit spending by FIRST reducing the size of government and then cutting taxes.

this nonsense of saying "we're broke, so we need to spend more money and expand our expenses by promising massive new entitlements" makes NO sense either.

and if you want to talk precedent, buddy, when in American history did we ever give enemy combatants Miranda rights and the right to trial by jury? Answer: NEVER.

    • akamaial:

      @ Curtis

I am not arguing against tax cuts - just tax cuts during war time. This decision was made by the previous admin not O and resulted in "unsustainable financial demands" as AKA describes earlier as a tenant to the Cloward-Piven Strategy. So to declare that the O admin would pursue such a strategy is false.

Referring to your last comment - I believe the W admin created the "enemy combatants" term and that no precedent applies. W created the precedent. So to speak more accurately - you have to say ALL enemy combatants have had Miranda rights and the right to trial by jury.

You might mean POWs, but that does apply once W reclassified POWs as enemy combatants.

I don't understand this administration and their demonization of the private sector when they invest so much in it and enjoy the benefits of capitalism. Obama is now a millionaire thanks to Bill Ayers and capitalism with the sale of "Dreams of my Father" and the other book Obama (or Bill) wrote. Capitalism and the private sector, even Wall Street seem to be lining the pockets of our Congress/Senate. Why else would millionaires/billionaires seek public office paying a paltry wage?

They are ignoring the will of the people and they will pay for it in 2010, but I think they'll propagandize us some more making themselves look like they accomplished something.

The sheeple do not know (heck, the Senate didn't know) what is in Reid's health care bill - no one really knows all the details, but the devil IS in the details of these bills.

Obama did say he would 'fundamentally' change America - so he's keeping that promise like it or not.

    • * ACORN's founder, Wade Rathke, is a big believer in the Cloward-Piven Strategy but he’s given it a new name for a new millennium. He calls it the Maximum Eligible Participation Strategy and has said he wants to use the Internet to swamp America’s social welfare system.

Although the Cloward-Piven Strategy pertains specifically to welfare benefits, the basic idea is that any massively unsustainable financial demands on the government will cause chaos and civil unrest.

Policy makers in Washington either want to cause crisis in order to overthrow the existing system or they simply don’t care. What else could explain the jaw-dropping fiscal irresponsibility in Washington?

    • Thanks for the post. In grad school I read Cloward and Piven particularly Regulating the Poor. It mapped out the strategy that aligns closely with Alinsky's Rules for Radicals.

David Walker is the one we should all be listening to!

I was laid off last January and started my own engineering-consulting business. Excuse me Mr. President, I started this business to help me an a living. Will low poll numbers, you are applying a Saul Allinsky Rule No. 12 by redirecting the blame from you onto private businesses.
