it was somewhat tongue in cheek. but in all seriousness, that kind of windfall seriously complicates your life. maybe it's the Henry David Thoreau in me coming out, but I was just thinking they probably had very simple and easy to manage lives and this money will undoubtedly complicate things more than you could ever imagine.

the chaos that will ensue will undoubtedly be incredibly stressful. the thought came across my mind of how this ends up in the long run. Will these two brothers that lived together in a cave, stay together now that they have inherited such a great deal of money. Basically, will it tear them apart? Ive got a feeling that it will probably benefit someone if they do get the brothers to split up, so there will be external efforts hard at work. So they very well could end up being very miserable having to deal with all this.

That supposed misery you're suggesting will beat living in a cave any day of the week.
We're talking dirt poor, hungry, depressed, empty, cold. depressed, lonely, stinky, tired, angry, depressed, scared, depressed, smelly, and depressed 24/7 and 365 days a year, for a whole lot of years.
You and your brother.

The Earth is filled with humans. Give any human an exuberant amount of money and they have the potential to spend recklessly. It is not a country problem. Thinking otherwise is not only a mistake, but a prejudicial mistake that only a person with hate would make.

jeez jammer, you make it too easy.
the statement that hopefully these guys do not waste it like stupid americans was a generalization, not discrimination. If you examine the arrogant materialism across the globe, it is understandable that you will find it everywhere. Yet, it is not far fetched to say many citizens of the United States waste their money. Just because someone wants to generalize wasting money with something Americans do, does not mean he absolutely must include everyone else in the world that does the same. It seems very evident that you have difficulty understanding what a fair generalization of a particular group is, a problem that stretches far beyond this story. At the same time, you make your own generalizations that simply baffle most.
Overall I think you need to just lighten up.

Inheritence tax is horrible. In this instance, we all hate these loser guys who really lucked out, but what about smaller inheritences?
Should a farmer's children have to sell half their parents land to pay the tax to keep the house they grew up in? What about a family buisiness that doesn't make ton's of money but has a lot of assets? Should the child have to take out a couple million dollar loan just to run his dad's business?
Money sitting in a bank earning interest is taxable just like income, so the government gets a fair share.
Why tax at all, when all our money just goes to fight stupid wars and pay elites to sit around and figure out new and elaborate ways to spend money taxing and criminalizing their constituency in the name of the greater good?

There is an exemption for the first 5 million dollars in the United States, and you can give $12,000 per year to anyone tax free.

What a coincidence. I just inherited $4 billion from my long lost relative, too. Evidently my great grandfather was a Nigerian prince, and he left me his fortune! I'm just waiting for the wire transfer, since I've already sent my banking information and SSN to the email. I can't wait to buy a pony dipped in gold!

This is why we need a steep inheritance tax.
They didn't earn that money and now they are going to act like they are great people because they inherited a bunch of cash? Please, I bet the night before they were bitching about rich people from their cave.

Probably, it's safe to assume that they could have been envious of the rich, but I believe that was probably not their biggest issue..I mean they lived in a cave for jeebus sake. Let's just be happy that two human beings can live a more comfortable life now, everyone deserves that. (i think if anyone's jealous it may be you Mr. CreditFigaro)

Haha, I am not jealous of rich people. I am frustrated that our middle class fails to thrive because of them. I never want to be rich. If I accumulate enough wealth to retire comfortably, then I'll devote my life and resources to a nonprofit cause of relevance. Rich people don't make a difference, caring people do.
By the way, If I got an inheritance of $4 billion, I would gladly have 95% of it taxed away to support the disadvantaged or whatever else the community decided was a good use for it. I still don't know what I would do with the $200,000,000 left over.
Even if I could keep it all, I would make sure that it all directly went to a valuable cause of some kind.
I don't need a dynasty full of snobby, snot nosed, entitled brats. It's not a cost effective utilization of wealth.

Wrong again Jammer
No they don't have to hire anybody. How do you qualify the approval of an accountant or tax attorney if you've been living in a cave for most of your life ? Hopefully they'll keep the same accountants that their grandmother used. They don't need to go out and hire anybody new. The person that willed the money to them had a check and balance system that worked pretty good to the tune of $4,000,000,000.00.

just because you are given an allowance doesn't mean you know how to use it correctly. You cannot expect people that never had that amount of money to use it correctly let alone know what to do with it....and not be swindled by someone.
Nice try. You lose every time you do, but keep it...maybe you'll catch on.
