Tax the weed and save the planet. We could clear out some debt. Stop locking up smokers with violent offenders. Spend more money on treatment. I am willing to help our country.. Are you?

I would suggest perhaps you take your over-educated ass to school and do a research paper, because this is not a debate forum, nor is it a place to start referecing a bunch of qoutes. it is an open participatory news rating system... and I only supplied the info. you want to personally attack someone... please take it up with the researcher who done the analysis and I am sure he would have the Citations.

no, people like to read about sex drugs and rock and roll. Nothing new there. How on earth can it be unequivocally true if we don't even know where the numbers came from?

Projected by whom?
projections are rarely ever much more than that though, and if the projector in question has an agenda the projections generally lose value in direct proportion to the urgency of that agenda.
Now looking at the evidence presented I see no explanation what so ever of where any of these numbers came from. The vehicle itself is not a news orgainzation, but a bar blog(?!) who claims its main associates are humor sites like college humor and holy taco.
There is nothing here. There is zero credibility. Whether or not these numbers may actually be real is irrelevant because we have no idea at all where they came from.

No. I am not a prohibitionist I am a rationalist. Am I evil because I demand real facts rather than made up ones, and actual truth rather than desperate wishful thinking?
Am I stupid because I refuse to be misled to by people who very obviously want to sell me something for what they very obviously feel is their own gain?
Replying to the various pot threads on this site has in fact to some degree changed my opinion as I have become more informed. But it doesn't mean I'm going to fall for every piece of garbage asinine back of a napkin claim that anyone with the six bucks for a web address happens to trundle out. This is too important.
as for your statements about experts, yes there are, but none of them are actually mentioned here. This is the point I am making. all this says is some jagoff with a copy of adobe illustrator thinks you should believe what he is saying. That's fine, WHY should i believe him?
I'm not saying he's lying. I'm saying that none of it is documented.

Ohh Wee! More money to piss away and sustain the welfare state. Let us just tax everything. That's the solution. Why do i then have the feeling that everything will be fucked even when the last financial product is taxed?

These problems you somehow think would go away if only the government did? There are places without government. Their problems are generally orders of magnitude worse. The US used to have a small government system back in the 19th century. I invite you to go watch "gangs of new york". It discusses life during that time. They even had privatized fire departments.

Everything that comes from the earth is good for us in one way or another, but cannabis is one of the best gifts from mother nature, it's such a shame people's ignorance have held us back from the type of society we could be if we utilised hemp in a helpful way.

this kind of thing is a little more like it. but...... I'm going to write something on the subject of legalization and the best way to go about it.
but right now things like this is good. keep attacking the main aspect of prohibition..... MONEY.
and dont let up. attack the alcohol and tobacco industry among many others, its the only thing that the govt. is really concerned about..
most of the prohibition money comes from these two industries and the govt. is scared of losing that money, also the prison system gets money for it and they feel the same as the govt. so we have to attack... money basically.
Money isnt the only thing our focus should be on but it is the main thing.
also organize on this. we as pro marijuana legalizationists(i know thats not a word) need to work co-op on a national scale for anything to get done with regards prohibition. right now we may have the same goal, but our ways of getting to the goal is so different that it all sounds like gibberish and random chatter.
leadership... and not one person, but a small group leading everyone for legalization is needed.
right now all we have are activists, and how often do we ever hear about them on the main stream or even in news papers... its because we need organization to make a collective effort to bring about change. otherwise the road to legalization is a far way off... you'll hear more from me on this in my article... ill hit all of you up tomorrow on this.
peace, n much love.

The density part of the graphic is hilarious its just the states' borders smoothed out with the highest population states the brightest color. It makes it look like the entire state of Texas is full of herb smokers which I can tell you, sadly it's not. Yep their out there in middle-of-nowhere Texas listening to reggae and rollin' joints all over the place lol!

This graphic is pretty weak, it just shows the states by population rather than places where the most herb is smoked. 1 in 3 people may admit to smoking the ganga but they aren't spread out evenly throughout the whole country, certain areas have higher percentage of smokers and it looks like they didn't account for this. Just legalize it already so I don't have to hear about this shit anymore.

how is that different from don't look just jump?
origin of "critical" :
"critical Look up critical at Dictionary.com
1580s, "censorious," from critic + -al. Meaning "pertaining to criticism" is from 1741; medical sense is from c.1600; meaning "of the nature of a crisis" is from 1640s; that of "crucial" is from 1841. Related: Criticality (1756; in the nuclear sense, 1950); critically (1650s, "accurately;" 1815, "in a critical situation"). In nuclear science, critical mass is attested from 1940."Critical doesn't just mean negative, it means important. To think critically is to think carefully and fully.
This sounds to me more like a used car salesman's rhyming pitch than anything else. It's so bad it's practically an argument against itself.

Don't over analyze bombastinator, when tosh said to not criticize weed he meant to not over think it. Weed is a herb with many beneficial effects and few malevolent effects, simple as that. What else do you need to know before legalizing this plant? Also i my previous comment it notes the way they found the revenue in the fine print under the list of states. Look more closely before you are so quick to comment mate.

I think this site is a little conservative about how much we would make were we to legalize and tax marijuana. Its a multi-billion dollar industry with 100's of potential uses, not to mention its recreational use. On top of that the money we spend on advertising, as well as keeping non-violent "criminals" locked up would go to other things. The legalization of weed makes sense not only philosophically but also logically and fiscally. So why the fuck is it still illegal?!

They based the marijuana profit off only each states marijuana arrests, so they didn't take into account all the people who haven't been arrested and smoke or the factors you brought up.
