Thank you Jake, you are really cool. The government seems to make people want to hide. It's worse than being in the mob. People never deserve to live like that. It is slavery, the elite look upon the less fortunate with contempt, that's what kills me about all this.
I hope people like you will have a louder voice. Be friends with Jon Stewart and Bill Mahr, they're good to have around :)

Oh, boy, just what we need, another right wingnut trying to tell us what the "gubmit" is REALLY saying!
If you believe any of what this guy is saying, you need a few of your own nuts tightened.

Umm. Why is the "government's" war, when it has been business's OWN idea to shut down main street.
The government didn't invent Wall-Mart, The government did not invent Morgan-Stearns-Enron-Exxon.
If capitalism is the big thing, how did it screw up so bad? And don't talk about de-regulation. Our Airlines have been de-regulated since Regan, and look what a fine mess we got now.
The regulations are cooked up by corporate interests, anyway. Remember, the lobbyists that push government around are simply mouth-peices for unbridled robber-barons.

You are confusing regulation with fraud. Fraud does need to be addressed, and IS a function of gov't. We could go the way of India and regulate every last little transaction, adding more and more regulatory barriers until the business fails... or not.
FASB accounting standards are viewed by many as fraudulent. Improving these would be more beneficial than adding more regulation -- read the actual bill text of HR 3996 to see what I mean.

We do not have capitalism. That has not existed since 1914, since John D. Rockerfeller convinced the Delaware legislature to change its laws to allow corporations to be chartered. It’s called Corporatism and corporations, not small business (e.g. the local bakery )are responsible for the this economic mess however the gov’t panders to them as opposed to your neighborhood hardware store.

No, Jake, I'm not a bit confused about "fraud" and "regulation"
It is the simple, unavoidable fact that big fish eat smaller fish and the big fish get bigger. And the small fish get extinct.
And the little corporations disappear: absorbed by larger and more potent leviathans.
Nothing new there, except this little fish knows that the government is run by me -- I vote -- it is ultimately MY only big fish. And big fish corporations are NOT run by me -- they are run by the GodFather of corporations -- the Financial System.
And you advocate making MY big fish toothless around YOUR big fish.
You have lost my vote, and I would never want a person with your views to represent me, ever, but thanks for asking.

LACK of government oversight and regulation of financial markets obviously led to the current financial crisis. The solution is more and better oversight of the financial markets.
I have one question for you: Do you consider a stoplight as "government regulation"? After all, isn't the government taking away your God-given right to accelerate your privately-owned vehicle? If you think so, I invite you to exercise your freedom. See what happens. Then think carefully how the "government regulation" most people refer to as "stoplights" actually creates a more fair, safe and efficient transportation system. - 2 years ago

Government regulators at the SEC backed up Madoff for almost 2 decades. Government cannot regulate everything, we need less central planning. The plans differ, the planners are all alike. Just look at GSE Freddie and Fannie, government propped them up for years creating the bubble that finally busted, and who do the bureaucrats blame? Freedom, it's the best brainwashing out there. Just give us more power and we'll keep you safe, doesn't work in the long run.

The very sad thing is...I think they're doing it on purpose. It's easier to control a downtrodden, broke, hungry public.
