Capt. Paul Watson of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society embarked Monday in an effort to locate Japanese whalers in the Antarctic region and disrupt their hunts.

The campaign also marked the beginning of Animal Planet's third season of "Whale Wars." For the third time, a film crew has joined Sea Shepherd in a Southern Ocean campaign that will last into February. The series premiere will be in June.

    • They need some better mechanisms for harassing and disabling the whaling vessels. The propfoulers are mostly ineffective and need to be better designed. Also, since the ships now use nets as a way to shield the deck from buteric(sp?) acid the sea shepherds need to find a way to leverage the nets in their offense.

And one more thing. They should only send people out on small boats if they know what they are doing. The guys always get lost and the girls always get smashed on the console.

    • What about an industrial size super-soaker that shoots whale blood collected from the kills!? There are some seriously shamed ancestors out there... isn't Shinto supposed to have reverence for nature? I guess that's gone in Japanese society the same way that sentimentality went in ours :(

    • Fingers crossed that this season they figure out to sling shot the stink bombs instead of hand tossing them onto a moving ship....love Whale Wars!
