You read it right, hookworms have been found to help people resolve their allergic problems. People infected with the Necator americanus hookworm, a parasite that lives in the human gut, do not suffer much from an assortment of autoimmune-related illnesses, including hay fever and asthma.
Jasper Lawrence, a Silicon Valley entrepreneur, has started a clinic in Mexico, to offer the unproven therapy (a basic worm “inoculation” costs $3,900). The worms make the immune system in our bodies less responsive. Allergies in a way is our own bodies defense system overreacting. So when a person is hosting a hookworm inside of them, their bodies are going to be less responsive to allergies however since the immune system is lessened there is a possibility that the bodies more susceptible to other things that can be more damaging.. it is all on how bad you don't want to be block up or sneezing a lot.
