I suffer from a spinal cord injury and have had a failed back surgery. The pain was so unbearable at times I thought of ending it all just to be separated from the constant pain.Cannabis saved my life,it helped me deal with the pain better, and I am able to take much less pharmaceuticals. It helped me enough that I could stop taking Oxycontin.
Then I learned that cannabis is documented as being used for medicine for many, many different things for over 5,000 years.
I bet BIG PHARMA. will try like hell to stop this to protect their profits!!! - 3 years ago

Well first off, Marijuana is not a drug. It's a god given herb. If this country is based off of Christianity, then the bible clearly states that God gave us all seed bearing herb, and fruit bearing tree. Not all but marijuana. Although I am against the legalization of other plant sources like Opium, I think that the legalization of Marijuana could actually do this country great things. The hemp bi-products that would result in the aftermath of legalization could turn our financial problems around. We could really save the trees, and use hemp paper. So I say to all the jobless, common folk, vote to legalize Marijuana. It could be your financial stability.

The electorate saying "Yes" to drugs - is not likely.
Best ask for "No" to prohibition. But yes to drugs? Think about it.Even if it was strictly a Hemp Products Production Act - no imbibing - still, all those conservative straight-shots would come climbing out of the woodwork.
Just like the legalize gay marriage bill - there are things, certain groups are simply not going to go for.
It just makes their little titsles tweezle. There are simply things you naughty people should not be allowed to get away with and it's as simple as THAT! -Right?

This is great news. I stumbled onto this article last night after watching Super High Me and i got really excited. This has a very real chance of passing and if it does there is a good chance that more states will follow suit. Heres to legalization in 2010!

"Hemp for Victory" was a documentary made in 1942 to perpetuate the growth of hemp. People who grew hemp did not have to send their sons off to war. They were doing their patriotic duty by growing hemp.

Using the term 'getting high' distracts from the facts. Cannabis hemp has many uses other than 'personal satisfaction'. Cannabis has medicinal benefits for people who are sick. Hemp has industrial uses, which could replace many of the products that are now polluting the planet. Hemp is 100% biodegradable and would filter our air during its growth. Hemp plants have good root systems, which could be used to stop soil erosion.
So called 'getting high' is a fraction of the facts about cannabis hemp. It's spin used to disract from the many facts about cannabis hemp. Boogyman fear!

well not if people like you and me campaign for this ballot to go through and pass. there are more people that would be willing to support legalization if they just knew the truth. people like family and friends is a great place then spread the education around.
since no one and nothing wants to educate people, we have to. i know its asking much and its sad but it will be well worth the effort in the end when cannabis is legalized.

President Obama should right the wrongs of Richard Nixon and reclassify cannabis. Richard Nixon left office in shame, but left his shameful policy behind. Politicians have perpetuated the 'madness' of Richard Nixon for political gain. Facts be damned!
Richard Nixon knew the facts and chose to ignore them for political gain. He should have been shamed, but politicians saw it as a 'vote cow' enabling them to use the 'war on cannabis' to spin their political campaigns.
Politicians were able to spin 'madness' because facts about 'cannabis hemp' were removed from educational material, enabling politicians to spin disinformation and many times out and out lies. Ronald Reagan was afforded the luxury of a lie and 'no one' held him accountable, everyone just 'moved along'.
"I now have absolute proof that smoking even one marijuana cigarette is equal in brain damage to being on Bikini Island during an H-bomb blast" - Ronald Reagan knew he was lying, but he knew people were to afraid to challenge anything during war time, in America, on American soil. He had his own 'drug czar' to silence the voices of decent. Sad, sad, sad! Silenced in America by an 'American Czar'.
In the dictionary 'Czar' tracks back to tyrannt and despot. Granted 'czar' has become standard in American government today, but when I was in school, a 'czar' was someone to fear. They knew it, when they used it. They used the title 'Drug Czar' for fear, to silence the voices of those who knew they were lying. It worked for years. Fortunately, ordinary Americans are finding out the facts. Cannabis hemp has history. Our forefathers spoke of hemp (sweet hemp/cannabis). They were not spinning 'madness'. They were great 'Leaders'.
"Two of my favorite things are sitting on my front porch smoking a pipe of sweet hemp, and playing my Hohner harmonica." - Abraham Lincoln (from a letter written by Lincoln during his presidency to the head of the Hohner Harmonica Company in Germany)
"Hemp is of first necessity to the wealth & protection of the country."
- Thomas Jefferson, U.S. President"Make the most you can of the Indian Hemp seed and sow it everywhere."
- George Washington, U.S. President"We shall, by and by, want a world of hemp more for our own consumption."
- John Adams, U.S. President - 3 years ago

Thanks for the presidencial quotes. Woulda' been nice to share some time with those guys back in the 1770-1830's. Of course with Thomas one could share an intellegent conversation if in the correct place and on just about any subject, with George, well he liked to sweep the ladies off their feet on the dance floor....John he would like a lively discussion if you could engage in in such...Thomas liked to engage in playing music with another musician....
All in all to be with these guys and sit around feeding the 'munchies' and having a glass of something cool while sitting out in the excitment of the 'new country' having a stimulating conversation... well I can't think of a nicer afternoon! - 3 years ago

California is moving in the right direction. Revenues from the fledgling clinic business are already proving to be a potent economic stimulator in the districts and towns that they reside in. Way to go California...Get out and organize...Get out and TALK about it...Get out and VOTE for your right to consume!

this is extremely important. we need to show up and vote for this and be the leading example for this country's govt. that Cannabis would be greatly beneficial if legalized, taxed not to mention farmed and fabricated.
exporting Hemp goods would generate millions to billions in revenue, and taxes made by cannabis could pay for programs such as drug education or rehabilitation, or any other things "we the tax payers" want. The profit made by dispensaries would pay for anything dealing with growing and selling, from the farmers or lab growers to the sales people and all the supplies/costs. At the same time generating a lot of money for the state that will be put back into the state.
hundreds of thousands of jobs would be created in California alone if we legalized marijuana, possibly even more. If the country legalized, maybe hundreds of millions, which means hundreds of billions dollars flowing through every inch of the economy and helping to get us back on track in more ways than one.

yes, I'm sure it will create "hundreds of millions of jobs".... If we have 300 million people in the country and even say, 10% unemployment, that's only maximum 30 million people who even need a job, and no guarantee that all of those are qualified. You also have to think about what crops and other products are going to be displaced by growing marijuana. It's not just as simple as "legalize weed, get lots of money"

serenden68:
well that is a very good point, not many if any other crops will be effected because although Hemp may be used to produce a variety of things, it doesn't replace anything except trees.
and when it comes to the world i think we would be better off using cannabis which can fully mature in months rather than using tree which in most cases took centuries to grow.
nothing in this life worth doing is easy, but i certainly think Cannabis/Hemp would be one of the most beneficial things to our society and well worth fighting for.
Millions of jobs created
Millions of taxpayer dollars saved and spent wiser
Billions of dollars in revenue
Better use of law enforcement
reduced crime rates
More efficient and environmentally friendly production of various goods
+ many more benefitsand the many ailments and illnesses people use it for, with it being one of the safest substances readily available to the public, is all the more reason we should legalize. Even those who aren't sick or hurt but just want to go home after a hard days work or learning and wind down find cannabis more relaxing and better than alcohol or cigarettes.
this is why the alcohol and tobacco industry is pumping so much money in prohibition, but the govt. has to realize that more money can be made with in cannabis than tobacco or alcohol combined.
MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY. that's all they care about and that should be our main focus.
but right now more than ever we should educate the people about cannabis/hemp before this election comes up so more will come out and vote for what they believe is right.
