I made a photo of a suspended baobab tree on the coast of Kenya - it is huge, and is partly embedded in a small cliff of ancient coral, and something like two thirds of its base is exposed. One can walk below it, although such an exercise can be dangerous in case its weight detaches it from the grip of the coral and it falls. I took that picture back in 1988 or thereabouts, so it most likely has long fallen onto the beach. I haven't scanned that photo, so I can't post it here, unfortunately.

Surprised that tree list didn't include the twisted Junipers of Sodona Arizona. These warped trees grow in the vortex fields and their spiraled shape is a physical result of the vortex energy. Concentrations of iron oxide (the boynton canyon is spectacularly red) and other metal/minerals have the effect of focusing the earth's natural Geomagnetism.
Amazing to see (and feel the energy) in person! - 2 years ago

It's amazing that anything can live to be 5,000 years old like the Prometheus tree. I wonder what that tree would have seen if it had eyes.

I wish they would've included one of the Great Sequoia's in Yosemite National Park, (that way I could brag & say that I'd actually seen it in person) but the story about the lightning-bolt-stricken tree was especially interesting.

many thanks for a trunkful of leafy & twiggy tour moments with these tree photos.
want to remember to look up Athens, Ga history folks for info on how a Tree is comes into ownership of itself.
a fabulous post especially for this season when so of us are hauling trees indoors & clothing them in ribbon and what not.

Wow... a drunk guy manages to crash into a tree 250km away from the next closest tree - here comes the kicker - IN THE MIDDLE OF A FREAKIN' DESERT!
That is so much more hilarious - and tragic - than any other drunk joke I've ever heard of before.

I live a few blocks from the Son of the Tree That Owns Itself. Last Arbor Day we all got together and planted the Grandsons of the Tree That Owns Itself. The picture is from last Winter.
