when I was 14 I couldn't say "vaginal cuff" without chuckling, this kid is awesome, in the truest sense of the word.

Yeah, I missed the part about him developing a new technique. All I saw was a kid who did some good work, wrote a paper, and isn't as good as a doctor yet. It was totally promotional for the school, and not so much about a new invention by a 14 year old.

This kid rocks!
So many kids could do so much if they were only encouraged a bit more and given the opportunity.

So, why isn't mainstream media not covering this.... the story is only 6 months old, I'm sure some time between then and now; they could find time to cover this story in between Balloon Boy and Tiger Woods updates...

I love this. I love that he is so interested in it and he's doing something that he's really interested in. I really love that there are schools like that and believe that there should be far more schools that try to get children ready to be adults instead of throw info at them and hope it sticks.

If parents set high goals for their children and supported them more America would be better. Good for him.

because human interest stories like this generally benefit from being uncomplicated and not containing big words, and maybe having a pun in the title. The subject matter is just too heavy for a puff piece. Look how the camera has to cut away whenever they start to explain something.

Especially since this story is 6 months old... I guess they were busy covering such important news worthy items like the Balloon Boy, Kate Plus 8, and Tiger's (bleep)-buckets...

I didn't even know all of the female organs at age 14, how exactly did this kid perform much (less perfect) a post hysterectomy scar???
Did he just have a bunch of old women laying around that he wasn't using anymore or something?????

This kid is inspiring, but I felt that the video was just a big advertisement for the school.
It didn't really go into depth about what this kid actually did. - 2 years ago

I, too, appreciate that the person who posted left out his race. Any 14 year-old achieving something like this is extraordinary no matter what race.

I think it does make a lot of difference that he's black. Hopefully, it'll encourage other black kids not to be afraid to excel--or in fact given them confidence that they have what it takes to contribute greatly to society. Blacks are underrepresented in our country in so many fields. It's wonderful that this accomplishment doesn't just come from a kid, but that it comes from a black kid.

NewsOne is a Black news website. They put "Black" in the headline as a device for readers to tell their children, "If he can do it, why not you?"
