But seriously, what does the last sentance of the following passage mean?

"A Human Society spokesman, Mark Langan, told the AP that feeding on the corpse would be normal behavior for dogs left without food or water for such a long time, but he added there is no way to conclusively prove that the dogs had done so."

How is it hard to tell if the dogs had eaten him? Bitemarks, check. Missing flesh, check. Bloody mouths, check. Not malnurished after 2 weeks, check. Sounds pretty conclusive to me.

maybe the dogs started eating him and for two weeks he struggled to flee. Eventually he stumbled across his trusty shot gun. He couldn't push the dogs away far enough to shoot them and was to weak to injure them with butt end the gun, so he took his shoe off and with his toe finally put himself out of his misery.

i'm glad that our society is against cannibalism. i don't want any doubt about somebody checking me out.
that great taboo will disappear when a value is placed on protein. when population balances the food supply cemeteries will become criminal.

Who is to say what an domesticated animal will do or a humane when starving? And who can really find fault with it? The plane that crashed in the Andes, people during WWII. There are cases of humans outside of Ida Amin who have eaten dead people. The will to survive is strong.

that's not hard to believe if they were starving.

We had a neighbor that rescued dogs and was active in the humane society die of a heart attack and her two dogs ( a doberman and a shepard) didn't harm her corpse. In fact they were both found dead along side her. They had lived awhile after her death.
Maybe the fact that there would have been blood evident in a gun shot wound would be enough to stimulate the olfactory to get the dogs to salivate and well you know the rest....
