Israel admits harvesting Palestinian organs

The admission, by the former head of the country's forensic institute, followed a furious row prompted by a Swedish newspaper reporting that Israel was killing Palestinians in order to use their organs – a charge that Israel denied and called "antisemitic".
The revelation, in a television documentary, is likely to generate anger in the Arab and Muslim world and reinforce sinister stereotypes of Israel and its attitude to Palestinians. Iran's state-run Press TV tonight reported the story, illustrated with photographs of dead or badly injured Palestinians.
Ahmed Tibi, an Israeli Arab MP, said the report incriminated the Israeli army.
The story emerged in an interview with Dr Yehuda Hiss, former head of the Abu Kabir forensic institute near Tel Aviv. The interview was conducted in 2000 by an American academic who released it because of the row between Israel and Sweden over a report in the Stockholm newspaper Aftonbladet.
Channel 2 TV reported that in the 1990s, specialists at Abu Kabir harvested skin, corneas, heart valves and bones from the bodies of Israeli soldiers, Israeli citizens, Palestinians and foreign workers, often without permission from relatives.
The Israeli military confirmed to the programme that the practice took place, but added: "This activity ended a decade ago and does not happen any longer."

Question: Does the right hand know what the left hand is doing...or is this typical-enough Palestinian just stupid, like his bleeding heart supporters who won't dare to take any rightful responsibility to be any rightful watering down of "integrity" in their emotional "pleas" for everyone else's blind dumbfuq stupidity too?
Answer: BOTH!!!!
What would you do if you saw a fuq like that roaming your streets? Would you believe his sudden posture of "Peace, Peace!"...when he clearly intends to do something entirely else? That's the effeminated "high-brow" Palestinian supporter kind of real fuqn stupid. Cuz looking like that, can't you tell what they have on their minds to do? some can't even take a hint lol even when it's going off in their faces from the Palestinians' back-stabbing hand! I wish we'd fuqd them more with more sincere pleasure than Blackwater had in Iraq. Maybe you could join them for that romantic martyrdom Palestianians so love like sociopathic dumbfuqs.
I wonder, can you see WHY it might be a good idea with such genocidal fuqs freely roaming the streets to fence and patrol your neighborhood from these "peace-brokers" and pretending "Peace, Peace" while making "War, War",,, I sure as send them to hell can...
I absolutely hate hypocrits and those who consort with LIARS and DECIEVERS...(and that has a lot less to do with being Palestinian per se than someone like corndog cares to mislead attributing genocide to Israel. Israel could take them out in a heartbeat if it were truly so...roles reversed it surely would be true then and why I hate corndog's merely accomodating stupidity too...)

You are all anti-semitic, even you Jewish people. Self-Haters. Ben Stein told me so.
The Jews and the Arabs both feel that neither side has the right to live. We are in this shit right now because we back Isreal blindly, and that is why half the fucking world hates us. If we backed away from them, the Muslims would exterminate them, so I guess we are between a rock and a hard place.

Well they got caught. Nobody would admit to that crap. Not suprised. A much as things have gone down hill between the two sides it was only a matter of time. The populations being considered are not very large. Being at war that long creats shortages. Even if they are still doing it no one will be able to stop them. We cannot even slow the pace of the war.

Palestinian Hate-Education Continues
By Peggy ShapiroThe Palestinian education and propaganda are more dangerous to Israel than Palestinian weapons. Ariel Sharon, November 18, 2004
Acknowledging that without a population educated to accept peace, no other negotiations or concessions were meaningful, the U.S. President set forth, "A Performance-Based Roadmap to a Permanent Two-State Solution to the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict." (April 30, 2003) Before discussions on the status of land, borders, Jerusalem, or "settlements," the Road Map called for Palestinian leadership to issue an "unequivocal statement reiterating Israel's right to exist in peace and security and calling for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire to end armed activity and all acts of violence against Israelis anywhere. All official Palestinian institutions end incitement against Israel."
In a few weeks, it will be five years since the Palestinian Authority was to prepare its citizens for a two-state solution and end incitement in its educational system. Yet from pre-school through highschool, Palestinian children are indoctrinated to deny Israel's legitimacy, demonize Israelis and Jews, and glorify violent struggle as a religious goal. The Palestinian government-produced textbooks and government-controlled media work in tandem to assure that Palestinian children will be no more disposed to living peacefully with Israel tomorrow than their parents are today.

"Now as He [Jesus] sat on the Mount of Olives,
the disciples came to Him privately, saying,
‘Tell us, when will these things be?’
And ‘What will be the sign of Your coming,
and of the end of the Age?’"
(Matt 24:3)"Jesus answered and said to them . . .
'And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars.
See that you are not troubled;
for all these things must come to pass,
but the end is not yet. [Still before the Rapture and the 'Apocalypse']
For nation [ethnic group] will rise against nation [ethnic group],
and kingdom [country] against kingdom [country] . . .
All these are the beginning of sorrows [actual translation is "birth pangs"]
[As with "birth pangs" they will grow closer]
(Matt 24:6-7)[Note: The original Greek word translated "nation" was "ethnos," from which we get our word "ethnic."]
So, although the world has always had false messiahs, cults, wars, ethnic violence and strife, starvation, disease, epidemics, and earthquakes, Jesus tells us that as a sign that we are entering into the last days we will see each of these increase in frequency and size. Described as "birth pangs," these "pains" will continue to grow worse and worse, coming closer and closer together, as signs we are preparing to enter the Apocalypse . . .
For then Jesus warns,
"For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been
since the beginning of the world until this time,
no, nor ever shall be [the Apocalypse].
And unless those days were shortened,
no flesh [on Earth] would be saved"
(Matt 24:21-22)Jesus tells us that never in the history of Mankind has there been anything as terrible on Earth as the coming Apocalypse, the "Great Tribulation" - only a small remnant of the world will survive.
Have a hard time believing in God? Just watch the news. God says all the Bible prophecies we are now seeing being fulfilled are given both as a final warning sign to the world and as verifiable evidence and proof the Bible is true.
Please remember, the Kingdom of Heaven is available to every man, woman, boy, and girl in this world, no matter who they are, where they live, or what they have done. It is freely offered to any and all who will receive it. Simply learn of Jesus (Yeshua), the promised Messiah, invite Him into your life as Lord, believe He died on the Cross for all of your sins and rose from the grave (proving there is a Kingdom of Heaven ... and a Hell). Learn of Him and believe in Him . . . for He was the only one who has ever loved you enough to substitute Himself for you on the Cross. He shed His blood, suffered, and died on the Cross to save you from your sins and from the utter darkness and torment of Hell, if you will accept it, believe it, and trust in it. That is why Jesus is called Savior. He now lovingly and graciously offers you life in Heaven . . . and it is a "take it or leave it" proposition. We have to consciously receive it and accept it in faith. If you sincerely admit you have sinned (which means you will need a Savior to get into Heaven) and ask Jesus to come into your life and honestly try to stop doing (and saying) those things God says are wrong, you will go to Heaven ... and with open arms and tears of joy He will receive all who will come to Him in faith and in love ... It's God's Promise!!!
The only unpardonable sin is to reject God's love and His free offer of life in the Kingdom of Heaven by rejecting Jesus (Yeshua), the Messiah, who stepped forth from Heaven (as promised) ... not to condemn the sinner, but to save the sinner (from the torment of Hell) and who willingly and lovingly shed His blood on the Cross so we can be washed clean of all our sins. The Bible warns there will be no peace in our lives until we make peace with God through His Son, Jesus (Yeshua), the promised Messiah returns...

I am a man of peace; but when I speak, they are for war. --Psalm 120:7
Not to be so inconsiderate to biggots...you might better appreciate much the same Wisdom in this less dramatic and dry observation:
"Reason has been suspended and evil prevails."--boadicea
and what is evil? ;D what is good? and how do YOU know? ;D you don't, but nonetheless you do "believe in" something and naturally you show no qualms to take "faith" for the values you wish substantiate you and give your life meaning from just another animal...
Good thing brighter minds believe in Morality beyond our own petty existentialistic self-relativity (self-absorbed) bullshit....if you must or "should" fight "evil" to say what is "good," do it with a healthy mind to the stupidity of the sons of Sceva...

In 2006, Iran became the only country to legally allow individuals to sell their kidneys, and the market price is of the order of US$2,000 to US$4,000. The Economist[13] and the Ayn Rand Institute[14] approved and advocated a legal market elsewhere. They argued that if 0.06% of Americans between 19 and 65 were to sell one kidney, the national waiting list would disappear (which, the Economist wrote, happened in Iran). The Economist argued that donating kidneys is no more risky than surrogate motherhood, which can be done legally for pay in most countries.
In Pakistan, 40 percent to 50 percent of the residents of some villages have only one kidney because they have sold the other for a transplant into a wealthy person, probably from another country, said Dr. Farhat Moazam of Pakistan, at a World Health Organization conference. Pakistani donors are offered $2,500 for a kidney but receive only about half of that because middlemen take so much[32]. In Chennai, southern India, poor fishermen and their families sold kidneys after their livelihoods were destroyed by the Indian Ocean tsunami in December 26, 2004. About 100 people, mostly women, sold their kidneys for 40,000-60,000 rupees ($900-$1,350)[33]. Thilakavathy Agatheesh, 30, who sold a kidney in May 2005 for 40,000 rupees said, "I used to earn some money selling fish but now the post-surgery stomach cramps prevent me from going to work." Most kidney sellers say that selling their kidney was a mistake[34].
[edit] Forced donation
There have been various accusations that certain authorities are harvesting organs from those the authorities deem undesirable, such as prison populations. The World Medical Association stated that individuals in detention are not in the position to give free consent to donate their organs [35]. Illegal dissection of corpses is a form of body-snatching and may have taken place to obtain allografts. [15]According to the Chinese Deputy Minister of Health, Huang Jiefu, [36] approximately 95% of all organs used for transplantation are from executed prisoners. The lack of public organ donation program in China is used as a justification for this practice. However reports in Chinese media raised concerns if executed criminals are the only source for organs used in transplants.
In October 2007, bowing to international pressure, the Chinese Medical Association agreed on a moratorium of commercial organ harvesting from condemned prisoners, but did not specify a deadline. China agreed to restrict transplantations from donors to their immediate relatives.[37][38]
People in other parts of the world are responding to this availability of organs, and a number of individuals (including US and Japanese citizens) have elected to travel to China or India as medical tourists to receive organ transplants which may have been sourced in what might be considered elsewhere to be unethical ways (see later). [16] [17] [18].
In 2000 Jehuda Hiss, former head of Abu Kabir Instiute in Israel, revealed in an interview that organs for transplantation were taken from dead bodies, without family consent. Donors included Israeli civilians, soldiers, foreign workers as well as Palestinian victims of ongoing conflict. Skin, corneas, heart valves and bones were taken from the bodies. To mask the lack of corneas, doctors glued eyelids shut. Hiss claims these practices finished in 2000. The interview itself was published in 2009.
According to Wikipedia, so far there is only ONE witness that has talked about the program, and he says the program is not only over, but that MOST of the bodies were indeed Israeli, that at the time there was not yet a law,, and mind you the EU didn't have a law until around that time as well, and it did not specifically say ALWAYS without permission, it said sometimes. And it did not say ALWAYS for transplant, it also said for pathology.
And, most importantly of ALL, the families gave consent for autopsy which means parts could ne missing regardless.
Read between the lines people. It's not as devious as you think. Remember transplant surgery is not perfect or ancient, it's newer and always being developed and legalised.

V, please please give it up, Israelis work with Steve Jobs too. We are everywhere.

IngloriousBitch:
One can be against Israel and not be a "Jew hata". The Israeli government has done some horrible things, regardless of context, and that ought to be acknowledged. It is unethical to hold the Israeli government to a different standard, for any reason, just because that at some point in the past they were mistreated. There are a number of populations that have been horribly mistreated over the centuries, and some of those groups are still mistreated; yet we don't turn a blind eye to crimes they commit. Israel has been getting far more favor than they deserve from the US government, and saying so does not make one anti-semitic. In fact, pointing to anti-antisemitism goes a long way toward validating the claim, since its not being countered in a rational way.
If you can justify the crimes that Israel has perpetrated on its neighbors, I'm willing to listen - if you are only willing to play some non-existent race card as your explanation, then we have nothing more to discuss. You obviously are refusing to acknowledge the repeated UN offenses and human rights violations Israel has committed, so we have nothing to say to each other. When you decide to be an adult and respect the United Nations, perhaps we can have a real conversation.

"An enemy of Israel is an enemy of humanity. Period." -shivitti
"The Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip represent severe and massive violations of international humanitarian law as defined in the Geneva Conventions, both in regard to the obligations of an Occupying Power and in the requirements of the laws of war.
Those violations include:
• Collective punishment: The entire 1.5 million people who live in the crowded Gaza Strip are being punished for the actions of a few militants.
• Targeting civilians: The airstrikes were aimed at civilian areas in one of the most crowded stretches of land in the world, certainly the most densely populated area of the Middle East.
• Disproportionate military response: The airstrikes have not only destroyed every police and security office of Gaza's elected government, but have killed and injured hundreds of civilians; at least one strike reportedly hit groups of students attempting to find transportation home from the university.
Earlier Israeli actions, specifically the complete sealing off of entry and exit to and from the Gaza Strip, have led to severe shortages of medicine and fuel (as well as food), resulting in the inability of ambulances to respond to the injured, the inability of hospitals to adequately provide medicine or necessary equipment for the injured, and the inability of Gaza's besieged doctors and other medical workers to sufficiently treat the victims.
Certainly the rocket attacks against civilian targets in Israel are unlawful. But that illegality does not give rise to any Israeli right, neither as the Occupying Power nor as a sovereign state, to violate international humanitarian law and commit war crimes or crimes against humanity in its response. I note that Israel's escalating military assaults have not made Israeli civilians safer; to the contrary, the one Israeli killed today after the upsurge of Israeli violence is the first in over a year."

I never use voice mail - it is a disgusting invention.
5) AOL/INSTANT MESSAGING WAS INVENTED IN ISRAEL. THROW THAT OUT.
I have never used AOL or instant messaging - they both stink.
6) THE CELL PHONE WAS INVENTED IN ISRAEL BY MOTOROLA-ISRAEL. THROW THAT OUT.
No it wasn't, it was invented in Finland, the home of Motorola - but anyway, I hate cell phones and don't use them - they are a disgusting invention.
"Think of the massive contribution that Israel (1/1000th of the world's population and the 100 smallest countries) is giving to the world—and to you—in science, medicine, communications, security. In relation to our population we are making a greater contribution than any other nation on earth."
Israel's contribution is negligible, the world would be far better off without it.
"So, you can vilify and demonize the State of Israel all you like."
Stating the truth and condemning Israel for its horrendous crimes is neither vilifying nor demonizing.
"An enemy of Israel is an enemy of humanity. Period."
And Israel is the enemy of life and everything good, righteous and beautiful. Period.

Palestinians lie 83% of the time
A review of the 36 "most serious" cases of alleged war crimes as cited by Judge Richard Goldstone in his biased report against Israel's defensive actions in Gaza has concluded that 30 of them are "baseless accusations," The other six were found to relate to genuine instances, where operational errors and mistakes were involved.
30 / 36 = 83% non-sense.

Actually, speaking out against Israel is not being racist, since to concept of an Israeli is not a race. I can say Israel is evil and not have that be racist, just the same as saying that Palestine is evil would not be racist - there is no race associated with these countries. If you want to debase an argument, use facts instead of sensationalist accusations like racism. It doesn't work, especially in this context.

I would like to point out also, in the original article,
(that is before the game of Jew hate telephone and TITLE editing that this post and the UK's Guardian have played)
the Doctor specifically said the majority of parts were pulled from ISRAELIS not Palestinians. AND that the families all signed for autopsy. By the way, when you do that I just learned having lost someone, they make you see the body first. You get to confirm they are dead and confirm they look the same after they autopsy too. - 2 years ago

Israel admits to organ thefts
Harvested organs were alleged to have been used by the military and in public hospitals [File: AFP]
Israel has admitted that it harvested organs from the dead bodies of Palestinians and Israelis in the 1990s, without permission from their families. The admission follows the release of an interview with Jehuda Hiss, the former head of Israel's forensic institute, in which he said that workers at the institute had harvested skin, corneas, heart valves and bones from Israelis, Palestinians and foreign workers.
In the interview, which was conducted in 2000 when Hiss was head of Tel Aviv's Abu Kabir forensic institute, he said: "We started to harvest corneas ... Whatever was done was highly informal. No permission was asked from the family."
Nancy Scheper-Hughes, who conducted the interview, told Al Jazeera on Monday that Hiss had said the "body parts were used by hospitals for transplant purposes - cornea transplants. They were sent to public hospitals [for use on citizens].
Guidelines 'not clear'
"And the skin went to a special skin bank, founded by the military, for their uses", such as for burns victims.
The practice is said to have ended in 2000.
The interview was also reported on Israel's Channel 2 television, which quoted an Israeli military statement that said: "This activity ended a decade ago and does not happen any longer."
Israel's health ministry said in the Channel 2 report that at the time the guidelines for transplants "were not clear" and that for the last 10 years "Abu Kabir has been working according to ethics and Jewish law".
Scheper-Hughes, who is a professor of anthropology at the University of California-Berkeley, said that she made the interview public because of the controversy last summer over allegations of organ harvesting made by a Swedish newspaper.
In August the Aftonbladet newspaper ran an article alleging that the Israeli army had stolen body organs from Palestinian men after killing them.
Israel denied the claims, calling them anti-Semitic, and the incident raised tensions when Sweden refused to apologise for the article, saying that press freedom prevented it from intervening.
'Conflict deaths'
Donald Bostrom, the journalist who broke the story in Aftonbladet, told Al Jazeera: "UN staff came to me and said that you have to look into this very serious issue. Palestinian young people were disappearing in the areas and five days later they appear back in the villages with an autopsy done on them against the will of the families.
"We need to know who are the victims. Mothers need to know what happened to their sons."
Bostrom said that there is no proof that people were killed for their organs but that an investigation is needed to find out whether there was a policy in place or if the bodies used were random.
Bostrom added that Hiss is the "main key" to solving such unanswered questions, but that there would also be other people involved who could help uncover the truth.
Scheper-Hughes said that some of the dead Palestinians from whom organs were harvested were killed during military raids.
"Some of the bodies were definitely Palestinians who were killed in conflicts," she told Al Jazeera.
"Their organs were taken without consent of families and were used to serve the needs of the country in terms of hospitals as well as the army's needs."
'Technically illegal'
She said that Hiss told her "that the people who did the harvesting were sent by the military. They were often medical students".
"He did it informally and without permission, and it was technically illegal," she said.
The military establishment gave their "sanction and approval" to the procedures, according to Scheper-Hughes.
During his interview with Scheper-Hughes, Hiss said that the eyelids of bodies were glued shut to prevent the removal of corneas being found out.

OMG you guys are absolutely friggin LOST if you don't understand WTF a PATHOLOGIST is!!!!!!
Pathology is the study and diagnosis of disease through examination of organs, tissues, bodily fluids, and whole bodies (autopsies). Pathology also encompasses the related scientific study of disease processes, called General pathology.
Medical pathology is divided in two main branches, Anatomical pathology and Clinical pathology. Veterinary pathology is concerned with animal disease whereas Phytopathology is the study of plant diseases.
The word "pathology" is from Greek πάθος, pathos, "feeling, suffering"; and -λογία, -logia.
V your commentary above has reached an anti-semitic low.
How stupid and gullible are Palestine supporters. It's a fucking autopsy!!!
Do you expect people not to recieve fair evaluations of how they died!!!!
IDIOTIC and FALSE title!! ALL OF YOU Palestine supporters are absolutely rude in your linguistic misinterpretation of fact and out of context BS .
What they are saying, and in case you didn't realize many of these bodies are BLOWN TO PIECES AND UNIDENTIFIABLE, is that some were taken for study on HOW THEY DIED and IF THEY WERE SICK. Cause that's what a damn pathologist is.
You have no fucking clue in what context.
This is more support of disgusting blood libel.
Shame on CNN, Shame on anyone who doesn't understand ENGLISH and what a Pathologist is and is still inferring otherwise.I am sickened by the depravity of the inference and it's implications about the people people who cure a lot of diseases for everyone.
Organ harvesting is a COMPLETELY different thing. And believe me if Putin needs a vagina so he can be hermo he can take it from anyone. Even you.

I think you are confused. The article above clearly states that the tissues were used in transplants. The quote is here:
"Nancy Scheper-Hughes, who conducted the interview, told Al Jazeera on Monday that Hiss had said the "body parts were used by hospitals for transplant purposes - cornea transplants. They were sent to public hospitals [for use on citizens]."
That is not for autopsy purposes, and not done by a pathologist for the purpose of studying disease. It had nothing to do with determining cause of death.

There is one important factor in our need to talk about Israel, or Columbia, etc. It is simply that these countries with awful human rights records are where the majority of our aid, and especially our military aid goes. Similarly, we need to be interested in Congo first because of resource wars that relate to what we consume. Ethics always starts with looking first at ourselves, and thinking critically about our supposed good intentions.
When we choose to entangle ourselves with nations we need to ask ourselves whether our impact is a positive one for the region and the world, and that's why Israel is important. We need to first do no harm, and that requires first looking at the impact of our actions.

Lets get one thing straight!! I don't hate JEWS or Israel. The reason for my comment, is because of the article is about Israel. IF the article was about Peru (were i'm from) or Japan (I'm part Japanese) I would have said the same shit!!!
No country or group of people should be beyond the law. This is wrong in any way you look at it.
Don't try to justify or make your country look like a bunch of Saints!! because Peru, US and every other country out there, is doing the same shit.
So when an article is written about them and there's proof, I'll be right there again, with my nasty comments and my hatred towards inhumane acts!
The people that email me and decided to call me names, can save it and shove it!

What? No it hasn't, not at all. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
More people died in the Congo, Somalia or Darfur this decade than all of Israeli history.
Hell, more people died in Iraq in a YEAR than all of the Israeli-caused deaths this decade.
Israel-Palestine is just another stupid partisan debate that Americans only care about because it brings up the old fundamentalist vs. secular and conservative vs. liberal rhetoric.
Compare it to Kosovo, Ossetia, India v. Pakistan or the Uighurs in China or anyone else. No one gives a shit about them, it's not entertaining to talk about. That's why you "care" so much.
