Lithuania fesses up to its black sites

Image
SleepDirt
The likely location of a CIA black site in Lithuania was first the subject of speculation in a piece that ran at this site, “Inside the World of Dusty Foggo.” When ABC News took the story mainstream, Lithuanian officials rushed to offer formal denials. Under pressure from European authorities, however, Lithuania’s parliament opened a probe. Today, the existence of not one but two black sites, operated with the knowledge of the Lithuanian government, is acknowledged by the parliamentary report.

    • Honestly, I'm sick of hearing about "Human Rights" when it comes to terrorist!!! Do you people forget what these people have done, and or are planning to do??? Seriously, What is the CIA to do? ask them nicely if they plan on blowing up another plane, or causing another major attack? SCREW' EM, I say hook them up to 220 V and zap the ever living crap out of them!!!! Water boarding, Please, that's nice compared to what they could and should do to these people to get the information they need to save your lives!!!
As far as Obama, Come on people, he is just a puppet,, he has no power at all.. He told you all what you wanted to hear and you bought it hook line and sinker and he won.. Congratulations, maybe next time you can vote Hillary in office, what a living nightmare that will be...Why do you think the "system" let him become president? Because of votes? Haa Seriously people grow up,, he is the perfect fall guy for when this country completely falls apart! You people seriously need to pull your heads out of your asses, and get with the program, Especially the younger people, I'm 35 and cannot believe what I am seeing as far as the American youth, hell even people my age are pretty screwed up, but there are a few of us out there that know whats up, and know where this country is heading, and its not good at all, unfortunately..........

    • yes yes yes we didn't have media telling us the real truth about Iran Contra affairs, nobody ever talked about 'economic hitmen'...it is all coming out now.

CIA has Obama over a barrel, look at the stink that gets raised as soon as anyone questions the right to torture, or to show photos...

Cheney is still on the job to tar Obama as weak on military...

check out Rolling Stone article about the Generals and Obama and afghanistan evidence every time a President goes against the CIA, they get done in some way...Kennedy, Nixon, Carter...they'll do exactly to Obama what they did to Carter...or worse perhaps.

This agency that works for the Oil industry has got to get its wings clipped by American voters and Taxpayers. Pure and Simple! We're screwed by their run for Central Asia.

What they do in Lithuania, Republic of Georgia, Israel are symptoms of this unbridled power. All those countries are over a barrel for our money and "protection", but boy when Putin decides he wants to roll tanks through, we will not be there.

    • Funny how we never questioned Regan about the tangibility of Black Ops until people need a scapegoat to cover the blame. Thank you Obama supporters.

    • What does this story have to do with Obama?

If you actually read the story, you'd know that the sites were operated from 2003 to 2006. It's crazy how easily history is re-written, Obama is now being blamed for things that happened in Bush's FIRST term.

    • A lot of my friends were convinced that Obama was the right guy . He did say the right things . He has been a whole lot worse than I had anticipated . Really disappointing . Potentially catastrophic . We'll see how history writes this down .

I was one of them Artemis6! I feel the same way you do, but we still have a few more years to go and see the true outcome of his actions. It won't be as bad while bush and dick were here, but let's hope the "change" he mentioned, is still a possibility.

You are right ! The bush years were horrific ! At least we know Obama knows what change we wanted . I know the powers are putting hella pressure on him , I hope he can still throw us a line . Like Al Gore did , with the civilian arpanet . Man , is that giving 'em trouble !

    • Obama has effectively gone back to hiding torture rather than declaring it openly. A far more effective imperial strategy. Possibly more dangerous for anyone genuinely concerned about democratizing the UN, human rights, peace, etc.

Funny, this page shows '0 comments'. I guess Current only counts you when you are not

I agree with your comment. Torture, assassinations and kidnapping are widely used and there is as much or more collateral damage as with the previous occupants of the White House.
Evidence of all of the above is available in abundance.

@ sleepdirt... current stores a comment count that is polled at set intervals and stored as a property of the article ID (in this case 91744213) instead of being calculated upon page request in a funny attempt to increase page load times... I once upon a time suggested they... replace... their creative minds in the development team, but obviously that advice was not heeded.
To current... please buy your development team a basic database paradigm development manual... Jesus Christ. A simple PhP, ASP, or .Net... err what ever it is you use... object length call, or added function would solve this problem if your stuff was set up right.
