a monkey who will die at the end of it all, if not after being stuck in a cage for the whole trip and the mission.

"This is like letting a company release genetically engineered life here with no testing" Um hello.. where do you live?? Our entire civilization is one big science experiment.

I'd think the ass-wiping robot would be a perfect match. I doubt he can do it himself.

They already thought of that, but Bush couldn't pass the intelligence test.

Umm can we send bush instead? I think the monkey would approve of the swap. Plus we would not be loseing anything if he don't make it back

Actually he was asked, I did it personally via telepathic interface. He said, although it's a bit cliche (can't expect TOO much from a monkey), that it was 'one small step for monkey, but one giant leap for monkey-kind'. He added later in the interview that he was obviously scared, but that he was happy to do it for the further evolution of his fellow primates, who he hopes will stop trying to conquer everything and learn the value of a good banana.

If we can't think of a better way to get there we don't deserve to go. End of discussion.

This is so sad. I'm thinking of that poor little monkey, who has absolutely NO say in the matter, and who will die all alone on Mars.

We should not be innoculating any foreign environment with biological samples - as we have done NO STUDIES as to what will happen.
Besides ethics (that little "e" word) - the planet could be turned into a gigantic experiment gone bad. For 100% real.
These imbeciles are not thinking and should have a set of conventions that allow them to become informed; and to which they must conform.
This is like allowing some company to set loose genetically engineered life here - with no testing, no thought.
Only Mars hasn't got the advanced and evolved biology that might sink bad interactions. The place is essentially naked.
It could become the Permanently Poisoned Planet (PPP) that teaches the non-thinkers what can go wrong. Why do stupid people reign?

So they'll have a robot take care of him as well... and the idea is being presented by the Russian scientists.
RUN!
