CNN; "they had a disruptive passenger"
[from link] A separate incident on a second Detroit flight has lead to the arrest of another Nigerian man, now in custody, officials said. A Detroit airport spokesman said a pilot from Northwest Airlines flight 253, again from Amsterdam, requested emergency help.
Emergency vehicles have surround the plane on a tarmac at a Detroit airport just two days after an alleged terror incident where another Nigerian man attempted to blow up Northwest Airlines flight 253 from Amsterdam to Detroit . Authorities are investigating the issue to see if the "disruptive" passenger had malicious intent.

There's a lot of science you don't understand but do you doubt the Scientists when they tell you about their wonderful discoveries? That said, just because you don't have access to these things doesn't mean a professional writer and investigator wouldn't. Yes, snarly, I have in my possession either on my desk, in my files, or in one of the six filing cabinets surrounding me, 100% documented evidence that most terrorist attacks, especially in the U.S. and London were covert ops. The factions in the world cheering after 9/11 were doing that because of the covert, and sometimes not so covert but illegal, ops we've done to them. If wrapping myself in an American flag would get me killed in some Middle Eastern countries it is only because of the pompous way we've negatively influenced their lives and killed their family members. Why don't you try an old Indian saying and walk a mile in someone else's shoes before before making a judgement about somebody or their culture. We have no more right to enter and kill their people than they have to come here and do it to us. However, we do it to them all the time. You're lucky, they handle it better than we do. We've been doing it to them for decades We lie and blame 9/11 on them, 'justifying', coming in and killing over 1 million civilian Iraquis and you're afraid of them. BS. They're afraid of us and fear causes people to revert to the fight or flight mode. If some of them happen to fight us, that's psychologically normal.
Tell me this! What country out there, right now, has the right to shock and awe and kill civilians in order to oust Obama. If we've got the right, someone else must have the right to come here and do it? Don't you think? I'd be willing to be you'd be an insurgent if that happened. CASE CLOSED. I WIN. - 2 years ago

That "attempted terrorist attack" a few days ago was just some guy setting his pants on fire on a plane. There's no way he was going to blow up the plane; that takes a very sophisticated bomb, not some flammable chemicals strapped to your leg. The MSM just blows it out of proportion, freaks everyone out, and makes the FDA impose these crazy new travel restrictions. If its that easy to get the FDA to impose such Draconian restrictions, Al-Qaeda is going to be flying a lot more people with flammable pants.

So, you have, in your possesion, the evidence that every so-called terrorist act in the past was a covert-ops? Really? or have you just listened to Alex Jones and the poison he spews for too long? What is your evidence in this. And no, Trump was just put off her plane, but why are you so eager for these people to be successful in destroying American lives? As for saying no one I know will ever get killed by a terrorist, you have no idea what family members in the WTC or the Pentagon or on any of the flight that have been blown up, i have. Are you wanting the lax rules so you can do somethin? I really don't believe that you do, but your really starting to sound like it. Why can't some people believe that there are factions in the world that truley hate Americans, and would do anything to hurt us. Why does the government have to be behind every evil thing that happens? Did you see the crowds dancing and cheering after 9/11? Please, if you believe that there are no such things as terrorist, go to a middle eastern country, wrap yourself in an American flag, and stand there. I'll watch your funeral on T.V.

I found out that some of my local officers murdered someone to keep their corruption a secret. They found out I knew. From that point,1999, and going I was awakened to how much abuse can go on within our current court system and how diseased our system of 'Justice' is. No matter how many times you are falsely arrested, 36 for me, and how much money you spend on attorneys, all you get is set free. BS! Unless you are on the other end of our court system you will never know how broken it is and how many rules need to be changed. I've become a big fan of the African American male for putting up with cops for so long with so few cops harmed.

did not the guy who actually tried to blow up the plane claim he was sick? didn't he make several trips to the restroom, including one within the last hour of the flight? what part of this guys behavior was any different from the first guys? and when they say stay belted in for the last hour of the flight, they don't say just the black guys, they say everybody. Ivana Trump (White chick, some would say kinda hot) was put off a plane just today for her actions, so there goes your bet. Please, think about all the mothers, fathers, children grand children, grand parents whose lives are at stake here, not just one unfortunate person who happened to get sick at the wrong time. He broke the rules, and all he suffered was a little bit of inconvience for it. And who has me trained? I agree that is how our system works currently and with all of your post. I just don't believe citizens should suffer for the lack of homework done by the police. Just because they have made laws against the rights of citizens, illegally, and given themselves sovereign immunity doesn't mean it right. Justice has one meaning in the dictionary and another for our civil servants.

You refer to lack of investigation skills by the LEO, how long should they have to figure out the complete story of investigation. I would say to the trial date. If they chose to drop the charges before hand, your free to go. If you are granted bail at your arraignment (and make it), you should be set free till your trial. This is how our legal system works. Your making a stink like the guy was Nelson Mandela, he didn't even loose one night sleep in his own (most likely hotel/friends guest rooms) bed.

snarly your first claim was that this had nothing to do with him being a Nigerian man just someone who refused to fall in line and it would happen to anyone who didn't follow the rules, right? Then, you stated this....(I'm sorry, but your stomach problems mean absolutly nothing next to my safety. I can't read minds, I know of no one who can. I'm not a doctor, I can't diagnose you by looking at you, let alone through a closed bathroom door. A human life is more important than worrying about his comfort. In this day and age of terrorism, you have to follow the rule, or pay the penalty for not doing so.) They profiled him, in my opinion, not as a Nigerian, buit as someone who wouldnt follow the rules set in motion after someone tried to blow a plane out of the air. They did investigate, and they released him. I don't know about where you live, but none of the cops here went to med school. If you were on a flight and were sick, got up in the last hour before landing, were told to return to your seat and didn't, you would be detained too. As a matter of fact, after the incident on X-mas, I would be one of the ones to help restrain you until the authorities boarded to question you. I'm sorry, but your stomach problems mean absolutly nothing next to my safety. I can't read minds, I know of no one who can. guyatthebusstation Just because we don't get paid for wrongful imprisonment or illegal detainment every time it happens doesn't mean that we shouldn't Tell the police to wipe the donut powder off of their mouths and spend some time investigating before making a move. As far as the basic competency of most LEOs i agree. However, what sense does it make to release a 'suspect' if you have them in you possession. I would bet that he was charged, which gives the LEO a right to hold him, and then later the charges were dropped. Even if they hold him as a material witness, they can hold him. As far as wrongful imprisonment or illegal detainment, like i stated; depending on the charge and state they can hold you for up to 72 hours without charging a suspect. The power for the officers to do this would be written as a state statute (or possibly federal due to the fact it crossed international borders/state lines (assuming the plane crossed another states airspace first, ie patriot act bs.)Additionally, since the same flight had a real incident 2 days earlier, i would guess it would qualify as reasonable suspicion.
lastly, why are you justifying his blatant stupidity? was he sick, i would guess yes. but, I don't see a plausible way that he did not know what happend on friday. If he was unruly and matched a similar description to another suspect (and has any knowledge of how the US has treated 'terrorist' suspects) how could he not see this as a possible outcome to not complying with the new 1 hour seat rule set forth since friday?

(snarly said: Why should he get money? I don't care if he was sick. He was told to stay in his seat, he got up, refused to come out of the bathroom.) I'm sorry, was his Mommy on the plane. If not, he's a grown man that needed to use the bathroom because he was sick. If refusing to sit down on mass transportation is now illegal there are a lot of bus riders that will be visiting their local jail soon. I may have done the same thing in the same situation. For Pete's sake, the man really was sick. He should get money because of the way it was handled. They used to, and still do, profile black men that way in this country. It has been banned now, should we throw that ban out now with the rest of our civil liberties?

Do they get some kind of compensation for the time they injustly spent detained? NO. Neither should this guy. Sorry he had diareah, but he should have been more knowledgeable to current events and realized being from nigeria days after a fellow country man was accused of a terrorist plot would not help his cause to disobey the pilots orders.

I agree, he should get some money. In addition, blanket statements about any race or nationality makes absolutely no sense at all. I've met people from many countries that were bad and some from many countries that were wonderful. I also know that many Americans, including most we elect, are more dangerous than Nigerians that happen to have habits that are just different than ours. Considering Americans as I know them, I could imagine Nigerians, the ones that are racist, have some choice words to say about us. Shamefully, I'd have to agree with most of the choice words saved for us by foreign citizens.

Well, guess fucking what? The Nigerian has been released because he had no bomb. He was, as I predicted, just another rude, vocal, insulting, passenger refusing to comply with airline regulations and spending an inordinate amount of time in the toilet. God only knows what the prick was doing in the toilet? Again, I will state, this is common behavior with international flights originating from Nigeria. And anyone accusing me of being racist can kiss my ass! British Airways has had massive problems with Nigerian passengers, as a result of their unwillingness to comply with airline procedures.

Thanks Ras! I have seen this on almost every flight from Nigeria. It is unbelievable the abuse that the flight attendants take. I have actually seen Nigerians get into a fight w/ each other or expats and still be allowed to disembark in Amsterdam without being arrested. I, myself have been asked to sit between hostile passengers, to calm them down or care for old men and women from a remote village, that are clueless as to airline etiquette. These old people are simply boarded with a large amount of baggage and suggests that they are mules for the powerful or drug dealers. How do you think that millions of ill gotten gains leave Nigeria and reach London or Switzerland? It is outrageous and KLM /Lagos is complicit in allowing this to happen. Of course Amsterdam is quite liberal with their drug laws and in addition provide many support benefits to Nigerian immigrants, mostly 419's coming in to scam the World! They recently sent 400 Nigerians back home due to criminal activity, but this only scratched the surface.

This is not unusal behavior with Nigerian passengers. They will spend 15-20 minutes in the toilet performing some kind of personal grooming prior to landing. Any passenger or flight attendant attempting to address this issue will receive a loud verbal attack and total disruption of the flight until these petty children are mollified. In particular, Nigerian men refuse to take direction from female flight attendants, as they are raised in a male dominated society. I will wait to judgement on this prick, however, likely he is just another Nigerian traveler convinced of his self importance. Quite common actually!
