Thanks Bush voters: 2000-2010 nets zero job growth

_________________________________________________________________________________
For most of the past 70 years, the U.S. economy has grown at a steady clip, generating perpetually higher incomes and wealth for American households. But since 2000, the story is starkly different.
The past decade was the worst for the U.S. economy in modern times, a sharp reversal from a long period of prosperity that is leading economists and policymakers to fundamentally rethink the underpinnings of the nation's growth.
It was, according to a wide range of data, a lost decade for American workers. The decade began in a moment of triumphalism -- there was a current of thought among economists in 1999 that recessions were a thing of the past. By the end, there were two, bookends to a debt-driven expansion that was neither robust nor sustainable.
There has been zero net job creation since December 1999. No previous decade going back to the 1940s had job growth of less than 20 percent. Economic output rose at its slowest rate of any decade since the 1930s as well.

It's quite funny how you lefties refuse to admit that Democrats had ANYTHING whatsoever to do with what was happening in this country for the last 10 years. I guess they were all just looking the other way while Bush used his awesome unlimited power to do evil. Their poor hands were probably tied behind their backs and they were totally helpless. They can't be held responsible or accountable for anything except maybe the good things, if there were any. Why, I bet old Dick Cheney himself threatened them with the torture chamber that he had built under the White House unless they went along with the administration. Poor guys. Well, I'm real glad they have some power at last. Things are gonna be great!

Still no jobs under Obama? It takes more than 11 months to undo what real dickheads Bush and Cheney did for eight years, screwing the American public of money, truth and honesty. It will take the Obama administration at least two and a half years to get the economy moving again to the point where more jobs are being created. The Republicans and blue dog democrats de-regulated the banks and many other industries for the benifit of profit over people, the enviornment, and 90 percent of the wealthiest. There re no silver bullets just hard work something Bush used to joke about but never knew.

1)Democrats are not Liberals -such foolish people
2)Bush was voted the power to rage war by a republican house and senate. A few democrats doesn't cut it for them to share the blame. By the time 2006 came around we were already at war. march 2003 we went to Iraq on a lie!!
3) The billion dollar war funded by cutting taxes on the rich, while allowing the really damaging deregulation of real estate and wall street; As well as, never fixing our country's biggest bill - health care, is how we got our country in bad shape.
4). All republicans and enough democrats in the pockets of corporations is the real blame. bush Jr. was always a puppet.

You gotta love the breathtakingly in-depth analysis one sees at times on Current such as that the Democrats "controlled things" since 2006 (Yep -- that was the year we established an absolute monarchy, all right) and that Obama doubled unemployment in one year (Gosh, all by himself. Well done.). Sigh.

When the Democrats voted to give Bush the authority, they were entrusting the President with the simple task of going in and getting rid of the weapons of mass destruction. Then it was expected that in a small desert country we wouldnt have much trouble. Well the Democrats were wrong. First, they were called traitors and unpatriotic if they didnt vote for it. Secondly, they were told a lie about weapons of mass destruction. Thirdly, they thought a man who never led anything in his life (Governors of Texas have barely any power, its in their legislature) except the failed oil company, and the failed baseball franchise, would be able to handle it; he couldnt.
Oh and dont bullshit us and say that the economic policies werent conservative. Giving the wealthy tax cuts IS conservative, you believe it will trickle down and help us non-wealthy people...wow that really worked.
And stop calling the Democrats liberal!!! Jeeze. Theres very few liberals in the government ever since the media became anti-liberal because they were scared to be called liberal.

>Democrats have not controlled congress since 2006.<
WRONG, please read the following
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_House_of_Representatives_elections,_2...
and the following
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_House_of_Representatives_elections,_2...
Democrats had the majority with 233 to 202 in 2006. In 2008 they also had the majority with 257 to 178. And yes it is very relevant considering they just passed health care with every republican voting against it. Not to mention the majority of Americans are against it from all of the polls I have read. Good luck this year I think the democrats are going to get their butts handed to them.>On the subject of the war in Iraq, they voted to give the power to the president to go to war if the situation required. They did not simply vote to go to war.<
This is a sorry argument. By giving someone the authority to go to war you are voting to go to war. In fact using this as a scapegoat only shows how stupid the followers of the democrat party are (not that the republicans are any smarter). This does not remove the democrats responsibility if anything it shows how inept they are in making decisions to govern. It also shows they are willing to go along with the republicans. Lets not mention the constitutionality of this to begin with. When a large percentage of the democrats voted for "Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002" they voted for war and they also ignored the constitution. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_Resolution>The bottom line is that republicans completely controlled congress since 96, the White House since 2000.<
WRONG AGAIN, the republicans have controlled congress since 1995 please read
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_House_of_Representatives_elections,_2...
WRONG AGAIN bush was inaugurated January 20, 2001.>Finally, you clearly do not understand the term fascist. Tossing a term like that around and applying it to America clearly shows what spoiled little whiners we are. Maybe you should spend some time in Uzbekistan or Turkmenistan for a little overseas education.<
Clearly you do not understand the term. Your going to tell me to educate myself when you cant even get a couple simple facts correct. Wow this country really is in deep trouble. Yes our country is becoming more fascist by the day. The very fact that you advocate a one party system is in itself a symptom of fascism. How about you first get your facts strait and then I will give you a lesson on what the definition of fascism is. Or maybe you could find the google button or read a book.>Our government is truly represented by the people of this country. As are the corporations.
What in the world are you talking about. How are the corporations represented by the people. I do not recall voting in corporations. This only proves further that the citizens of this country becoming fascist.>Check out some reality court TV and you will see that we are all the same.

So much talk about Democrats controlling either Senate or House is nuts as actual Liberals have not controlled either body since they managed to pass the civil rights legislation.
At best they have passed a few human rights issues, but the gradual Corporate takeover that is the Libertarian ideology has steadily increased, and since Reagan it has done so at an ever increasing pace.
There have been a few Democrats that have sold out to the Gang Of Pirates, some on just a few issues, some on most issues, but the Republicans are proudly and unashamedly the tools of Corporate Power and the destruction of any actual human values.

First off the democrats have controlled congress since 2006 that's 40% of the last 10 years. Contrary to popular belief a large percentage of the democrats voted to go to war with Iraq in 2002 (the most expensive and unjustified war in our history by the way) along with the rest of the republican controlled congress. They also voted time and again to fund the war. There is nothing fiscally conservative about the republican party for those who think otherwise just take a look at the national debt that accumulated. The republican party is actually very fiscally liberal and that is why we are in the mess we are in. Everything from the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy to our corporate welfare system. Cutting taxes for the rich and for the corporations does not make you a conservative. Voting in another party who is just as irresponsible with monetary policy is not going to solve the problem. Growing government and accumulating more debt as we are doing now with Obama and the democrat controlled congress is going to cause even greater damage than has already been done. We have a fascist government that is ruled by both the democrats and republicans. Mussolini got it right when he said that "Fascism should rightly be called Corporatism as it is a merger of state and corporate power". Those who fall for the line of using Bush as an excuse to bailout failed institutions are completely ignorant of the situation we are in. The corrupt institutions being propped up first through Bush's policies and now through Obama's policies should be allowed to fail, we are just continuing the Bush era of economics.

Democrats have not controlled congress since 2006. They barely have a filibuster proof majority now. Why is this relevant? Because the republicans have the ability to lock arms and vote as one. The democrats represent too many different points of view to successfully filibuster anything while republicans were in charge.
On the subject of the war in Iraq, they voted to give the power to the president to go to war if the situation required. They did not simply vote to go to war. I will give you that democrats were stupid enough to trust the president with this decision. Some voted this way because people who oppsed the war were being called traitors, unpatriotic, and accused of treason. Since many dems are cowards it was easy to go with the flow and hope that war would not happen.
The bottom line is that republicans completely controlled congress since 96, the White House since 2000. They were able to lock up congress for the last 3 years after they lost their majority. Throw in the fact that they still control the Supreme court and you have a long slow swim upstream to get out of this mess. Six years of abusing executive power and fifteen years of abusing congressional power will take decades to fix.
Finally, you clearly do not understand the term fascist. Tossing a term like that around and applying it to America clearly shows what spoiled little whiners we are. Maybe you should spend some time in Uzbekistan or Turkmenistan for a little overseas education.
Our government is truly represented by the people of this country. As are the corporations. If you think, on the average, your next door neighbor is any less greedy than politicians or CEOs then you are delusional. Check out some reality court TV and you will see that we are all the same.
