The Nigerian man accused of planning to blow up a US-bound plane on Christmas day was recruited by al Qaeda in London, according to a top Yemeni official

Rshad al-Alimi, Yemen's Deputy Prime Minister for Defense and Security, told a news conference today that Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab, 23, had also met with Muslim preacher Anwar al-Awlaki during his time in Yemen, referring to an English-speaking cleric linked to a gunman who ran amok in a U.S. army base in Texas.

Mutallab has been charged with attempted murder and trying to use a weapon of mass destruction after allegedly trying to blow up the plane from Amsterdam to Detroit. If convicted, he faces life imprisonment.

With this revelation coming just a few years after three British-born men (and one Jamaican-born man) bombed London's transport system on 7/7, are we over-looking the existence of terrorism on our own shores?

    • Does this mean that the U.S. military will invade and colonize London like it has Iraq, Afghanistan and presumably now Yemen?
