    • hmmmmm,...6 pounds??? doesn't seem like medicine to me.....if it were 6 ounces the lawsuit may seem more plausible........I do not know any medical marijuana patients who can walk into a pot shop and buy 36k worth of medicine,...
      it just sounds fishy

    • The war on marijuana in California is hard to fathom. While medical marijuana consumption is legal, the framework under which the growers and dispensaries operate is something of a legal gray area. In Southern California especially, district attorneys and local law enforcement raid and shut down dispensaries, because the laws are, to say the least, vague and confusing, in addition to being in conflict with federal law. Personal cultivation and consumption of medical cannabis are also affected by the murky legal system.

The ambiguous web of laws that governs -- or doesn't govern -- medical marijuana in California is one big reason that propels people toward marijuana reform, but an even bigger incentive may be the social justice issues brought to light by the drug war.

    • This happened in Nevada County, CA a few years ago except the cost to the local gov't was in the 6 figure range. You'll never see local law enforcement messing with a local crop now.

    • I wonder on what grounds they thought they could confiscate it. If it was medical then the sheriffs simply didn't care. Maybe there is more to the story.

    • I find it ironic that the ads on this page come up telling us the virtues of a drug free world. So does that mean that we are going to ban all pharmaceuticals, too? You get bet your bippy, NOT!

    • Good post , that's right plastic made from hemp is biodegradable, and for those who don't know what that means, when you throw away something like a plastic bottle or maybe a car body, it would decompose, it also means all that plastic garbage floating in the worlds ocean would,,, wait for it ,,,, wait for it,,, DISAPPEAR .

    • That might get their attention.

Hey Jack, I went to BooksaMillion and asked them if they had you're book in stock (I really want a copy, but I don't want to order it and get potentially flagged). So the clerk went to her computer and looked it up, and all of a sudden this jaw drop look appeared on her face.

She said "That's not what I expected".

I said, "What did you expect naked people?".

She said " I didn't expect to see a POT leaf".

      I said, "Well you didn't that's hemp".

      She said "Same thing".

That perfectly illustrates one of the big problems regarding hemp, people even young "hip" people don't respect or appreciate it. They think it's a joke.

Nobody (on a large enough scale) wants to consider the realities of the situation. We've got miles of plastic floating around the Pacific ocean, now had that plastic been made of a more earth friendly biodegradable hemp, we wouldn't have that problem. I can't stand it, you can't buy anything without contributing to the further destruction of our planet. Almost nobody get's it or cares, it keeps me bummed out, and skinny from not trying to buy plastic wrapped food products...

Anyway, just thought I'd let you know you are appreciated. You are correct, in your defense and support of both hemp & marijuana. And I truly hope we will all see the day, when the powers that be will stop trying to make us finance our own deaths with harmful drugs, and plastics.

      Thanks.

When I first tried to buy the book back in the late '80's, early 90's, I was told by a book store, which supposedly had books on explosives, etc., that it was a 'taboo subject'. I couldn't believe it. The Plain Dealer featured the book store in their Sunday Magazine as a book store, which had books on everything including how to make a bomb. When I called the next day, they told me they didn't have the book, "The Emperor Wears No Clothes". He actually told me, it was a taboo subject. That's just crazy! Why?
