A state law enforcement organization whose police officers patrol the public highways. during an arrest be returned to the defendant.
Superior Court Judge William Sterling on Friday ordered the marijuana returned to Saguro Doven. The 33-year-old's attorneys successfully argued that he had the legal right to transport it under medical marijuana guidelines issued by state Attorney General Jerry Brown.
Doven's attorney says his client was a member of a Venice-based medical marijuana collective.
According to court records, a California Highway Patrol officer arrested Doven after discovering the marijuana during a traffic stop. Doven initially was charged with possession of marijuana for sale and transportation of the drug. The charges have been dropped.

Good for him. It's about time that the government decriminilize pot on a federal level. Of course, the pharmecutical companies wouldn't like that. Personally, I could reduce my mediction if pot were legal. I'd save money, but big business wouldn't like to see a little person, chronically ill on social security having a better life.

I wish the link actually went to the article, or at least, copy and paste the article correctly. Did I miss something? Everyone else seems to be not bothered by this. Good for the guy, but I want to know more about how the hell they seized all that in the first place without a reason to search his vehicle after a 'traffic stop'.

Well he was traveling with 60 pounds of cannabis so the cop could probably smell it when he approached the car, and in my experience that can be used as justification for a search.

Or the cop simply asked for permission and the guy agreed to the search thinking he wouldn't be arrested because he wasn't breaking the law.

Vote buttons and connections buttons do not seem to be working. I shot an e-mail to support about it. At least now I know it isn't just me.. :) - 2 years ago
