There is no doubt that a cure for many ailments exist and pharmacuticals keep much of it suppressed. Wouldn't want to keep people healthy...that would upset the "bottom line."

It is very fortunate you came upon this when you did, otherwise this world may well have lost a man of incredible inner strength, wisdom, and grace. I wholeheartedly believe you and have always thought the cures to all the world's and our ills were locked in the Amazon rainforest. This is one reason why we need to advocate strongly for the rights of indigenous peoples and protect these lands. You speak of the Amazon in Ecuador and all I can now think of is the irreversible damage to it done by Chevron and other oil companies of its mysteries, its waters, and its magic, and the pushing forward of companies like Monsanto and other companies in chopping it all down for profit and spreading their toxic GMOs. We may well have already destroyed thousands of species of plants that had medicinal qualities to save lives, all for the dollar bill. It is for sure a trade off that shows the deterioration of humanity. Your story however is inspiring, fascinating, and hopeful for humanity and I thank you for sharing it. My mom died of cancer when I was 17 and I will never get over the effect it had on me. Had I only known of this, even at 17 I would have walked and swam my way to the Amazon to get this to save her. I continued to take the antivirals until my body became resistant to the combination and my viral load started to climb again into the hundreds of thousands, and my T4cell count began to drop again down to 150. My doctor ordered a then extremely expensive test that was done back then, only in Belgium. Blood samples were shipped there and the test was done exposing my blood to every known HIV medication, approved and experimental, and a report was sent back to the doctor with a recommendation for which medications would still work on me.

She reformulated my "cocktail" and put me on a triple Protease Inhibitor Combination. This combination didn't last long for me but perhaps two years. This combination once again lowered my viral load to undetectable and my T4cell count stabilized at around 175, but I started to develop a particularly damaging side effect called lipodystrophy and peripheral neuropathy. In plain English it meant that I was on the verge of having a heart attack, my cholesterol level had skyrocketed, and I had developed numbness in my feet, hands, and lips.

This is when I had to go onto my third drug "cocktail" combination. A new Protease Inhibitor had been approved that promised to not have the same side effects as its predecessors and so I began to take the new "cocktail", the same cocktail I have been on since 2002. With this new cocktail I did not only have a continued undetectable viral load, but I also experienced an increase in T4cells that gradually climbed to around 275 and remained somewhat constant, fluctuating between 250 to 285. But I never seemed to be able to go much beyond that.

Well in 2007, I returned to Ecuador and was shopping one day with my father in the pharmacy when I stumbled upon the medicine that Dr. Cevallos had prescribed to me back in 1995, only this time it was on the pharmacy shelf, with the same name of BIRM, only it was now an extract and it had stabilizers to give it a long shelf life, almost two years. I was truly amazed that Dr. Cevallos had finally brought his product to market. I purchased several bottles of the medicine and brought it back with me to the United States. I began to use the product once again. What happened in the years that followed is truly amazing. My T4Cell count began to rise, from 285 to 300, to 350, to 400, to 450 and then to 511. I had finally broken through to a higher count, still with an undetectable viral load, but now into the 500's.

I firmly believe it is because of this extract that my count has climbed and continues to climb and remain stable just above and below 500.

Dr. Cevallos has patients who have achieved even higher numbers with treatment of this medicine. The bottles I had have since run out, but I am going to make another trip to Ecuador and purchase more so I can continue to use it. But what about the cancer cells committing suicide? Well continue on and you will read the amazing story I am going to tell you.

The next morning I awoke to the sound of birds outside my hospital window. I could hear footsteps in the corridors outside my room and I could hear voices of people talking. The terrible noise, like static from a radio or TV set not tuned to a channel, was gone from my mind. I felt complete serenity. My fever was gone. I was practically speechless and amazed.

My mother noticed that I looked better, she touched my forehead and then rang for the attending physician. She promptly came in along with a nurse and they examined me and took my vital signs; temperature - normal 98.6 degrees, blood pressure - normal 111 over 76, heart rate 68 beats per minute. With the exception of the weight loss and the fever blisters, I was completely normal. They were astounded. My mother was astounded. I just smiled.

Within an hour or two the doctor came back into the room and announced that I would be released from the hospital the next day. My fever was gone, and they "needed the room for another patient." I was assigned to a new Primary Care doctor and was sent home. In the days that followed, I regained some weight and my strength. I started to feel good again. I was also tested for my T4cells again and they began to climb....from 5 to 10 to 50 and then to 100 within weeks. I continued drinking the tea until I had exhausted the three containers I had purchased from Dr. Cevallos. Within a year, my T4cell count was at around 150.

My new doctor pleaded with me to begin taking the new drugs that had recently been approved called Protease Inhibitors, and other experimental drugs in a combination therapy that they called HAART, highly active anti retroviral therapy - the "drug cocktail". I complied and gave them a go. I had extreme side effects including nausea, diarrhea, burning sensations in my blood stream, headaches, dizziness, and nightmares. I stayed on that initial combination for only a couple of months and then quit. I told the doctor I couldn't take those harsh chemicals anymore.

Then I met a woman who had AIDS who was taking a combination that she seemed to tolerate rather well. By this time it was 1998. My T4Cell count was still around 150. I asked my doctor to put me on her combination. My body tolerated it well, too and my viral load began to plummet, from millions, to hundreds of thousands, to thousands, and then eventually to undetectable by the year 2000. It was truly a miracle to be at an undetectable level. By 2001, my T4Cell count had reached 200. And I had forgotten about the tea, having moved on to chemotherapy drugs being offered to me by my doctors in the United States.

It was a truly out of body experience for me, because I was aware of my body in the bed in the hospital but I was also standing in line to get on the ship in this beautiful island paradise, or so I presumed. When I got to the front of the line, I was asked for my name. The purser told me that I wasn't on the list. I became agitated. I demanded that they look again. The smiled and told me that there was no mistake, my name had to be on the list or I would not be allowed to board the ship. I became livid. I returned immediately to my body in the hospital bed and asked my mother for my check book.

My mother was startled by my request and said "Honey, why do you need your check book, your in the hospital." But I wasn't going to be deterred. I replied to her in a very angry tone, "Give me my goddamn fucking check book!" She reached over, pulled a tissue out of the tissue box and handed it to me. In my lucid state, all I saw was a fresh check upon which to write. I made out the check for every penny I had in my bank account, which at that time was around 15K, as I had sold my house, my car, and practically everything I owned and converted it into cash so I could have money to go on a round the world trip, since I was "inevitably going to die" due to my extremely reduced T4Cell count.

I went back to the front of the line for the Cruise Ship and threw the check down before the purser and demanded to be let on the ship saying "here is every penny I have in the bank, let me on the damn ship."

The purser was not moved by my demand, he smiled handed me back the check and said "It doesn't matter how much money you have, if your name is not on the list, you cannot board. Next!"

I was flabbergasted and then suddenly disillusioned. I began to sob. I sobbed so hard that I couldn't speak. The vision disappeared and I was back in the bed at that hospital, sobbing uncontrollably. My mother became alarmed and asked me what was wrong, but I couldn't say a word, the only thing that came out of me was howling, sobbing, and tons of snot and mucus. After what seemed like an eternity, I finally said to her, "Their not going to take me with them" and continued sobbing, until I fell asleep.

Keep in mind that my T4 cell count was less than 5. My viral load was in the millions. My immune system had been completely destroyed, due to the fact that HIV had been doing its dirty work in my body since my teens. When I was diagnosed with AIDS in 1993, I had already had HIV for over 15 years. Friends of mine had already died. I was on death's doorstep.

Well, after taking the tea for almost one month, I suddenly developed a very high fever of 106 degrees. I went to the hospital and was immediately admitted. My infectious disease specialist attended me at the hospital and he ordered an onslaught of tests, CT Scan, Ultrasound, a barrage of blood tests, a spinal tap, urine analysis, and others. Meanwhile my fever of 106 was relentless, I received Tylenol every 4 hours to reduce the fever, along with ice packs and cool towels to help lower the fever. My fever would go down to around 102 but quickly spike back up to 106 in less than two hours. I started to dehydrate and was completely unable to eat any food. I was given bags and bags of saline. In the two weeks I was hospitalized, I lost over 30 pounds of body weight and was covered with fever blisters on over 35% of my body.

At one point, after many days of tests and prolonged fever, my Specialist came into my room and asked me if I had any idea of what might be causing the fever, because, as an infectious disease specialist who had studied diseases in Africa, he could not come up with a single thing that made sense. He told me something had caused my immune system to go into overload and he couldn't figure out what had caused it.

My mother and I told him about the tea that had been prescribed to me by Dr. Cevallos, but my specialist laughed at us and told us that in no way would a tea activate the immune system in the way that my immune system had been activated. My mother became upset with the doctor and asked him to step outside into the hallway. Several minutes later my mother came back into my room and announced that the Specialist was no longer going to be my doctor, she fired him. She said that he told her that I was inevitably going to die and that she should be prepared for it by asking family members to come and say their goodbyes. I was resigned to die in that hospital.

But something amazing happened to me that I will never forget. On the twelfth day of my hospitalization, as I was lying practically comatose from the fever, I had a dream, a hallucination, or a vision. I saw a beautiful paradise scene beyond shattered walls of the hospital room, shattered walls that looked as though they had been blown apart by a huge explosion. I saw a gleaming white cruise ship and people waiting in line to get on board. All I knew is that I wanted to get on that ship.
