Hello all! Today's featured member of the US Politics Group is Ihatethemall. I'd like to thank him for putting a considerable amount of time, effort etc into answering my questions.

These interviews are intended to garner a greater appreciation and understanding of your fellow Currenteers.

Q.Tell us a bit about yourself so your fellow users can gain a greater appreciation for you and your comments.

A. Born and raised in Chicago, quit school at age 15. Was driving trucks long haul at age 16. By 18 I had my own truck. by 19 I had lost it and everything else to a crack addiction. A few months later I met my future wife. She got me through the rest of my recovery from Crack addiction. a year or so later we left Chicago to get away from the city. Pulled myself up by my bootstraps and got myself going again. Didnt ask anyone for help other than my wife. She stuck by me. God bless her. we both drove trucks long haul together until we moved to Vegas in the late 90's where I started driving locally for a comapny based in Vegas. By 2002 I had bought another truck and had my own trailer and authority from the federal government to operate a trucking company. A few months later I bought another truck and another trailer and hired a driver for it. 2003 discovered Crystal meth. 2004 lost everything again to dope. one truck and 3 trailers and my house gone. Couldnt make the payments. Wife gave me 2 options, divorce or leave Vegas and get clean. Left Vegas broke and homeless except for the truck, it was paid for. Lived in it for 2 years while I got yet again back on my feet. It worked, I now own a truck again and I have a farm to boot. Been clean off all dope since thanksgiving 2004.

I am currently living 30 miles or so south of Dubuque Iowa and have a paid for place in Hannah North Dakota.

The only reason I am telling you all about this is to show that if you want to succeed it can be done. I have been as broke as the next guy and maybe worse. I never put my hand out and asked anyone for help other than my wife. God bless her.

New devolpments in my life as of 1-08-10. I am a foreman with a railroad, have been for 2 years. That is in addition to the farming and part time trucking. I was laidoff 1-08-10. My choices are to either go to the coalfields of WYO, Shreveport LA or quit the railroad all together and go back to trucking full time. Some folks here knew I worked for the railroad but I didnt make it common knowledge.

Wish me luck.

    • too much information. but i guess its worth the attention. what makes a person "tick". i chose IAMAMAN because i happened to be reading the book. then figured i could get people to type, "i am a ____!" (choose your own explitive). i know i can always respond with, "i agree! You are a ____!"

      @ IHtmAll,

addiction sucks. its an unfortunate disease to be afflicted with. mental health is always taken for granted by society, and even in those afflicted. the only thing your certain of is that you are on your own. I consider you one of the lucky ones, your still alive, and you have love. so many are so blind to "it", even after they have lost what little they ever had. i wonder if some people ever learned to recognize "it" at all?

parents can really mess with a kids head, cant they? sometimes i even wish i was an orphan that never got adopted. nuff said...........

    • You are kidding me right? ..." a real American hero"?!? What the fuck? This guy is a crackhead and a tweaker who fucked over his wife, friends, and whomever was driving for him and you call him a hero? What the hell man, I wonder how you feel about huffers and bangers, are they headed for sainthood? This guy never sought help to end his crack and crank jones so that tells me he is a fraud who still is a bad day from firing up that stem again. I guess in your eyes that makes him the Messiah. Do you even think that maybe he could have annihilated you and your loved ones when he was barreling down America's streets driving tons and tons of steel and cargo all geeked up? .... Face it, some right wing wanker skeeved out of his part of the bargain and had no intent on supplying his side of the debate deal and gives you his sob story................It's no wonder why the movement is dead.......

"skeeved out of his part of the bargain and had no intent on supplying his side of the debate deal"

As they always say "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions" so it is hard to tell if he had "no intent" all along, the evidence only shows that he didn't keep up his part of the bargain for whatever reason whether he intended to or not.

He was given every opportunity to fulfill what he agreed to but the fact remains that he failed to keep up his end of the bargain

So that only leaves the conclusion that Delia won the challenge because she did her part and there is nothing to show otherwise to refute the evidence she presented in her argument.

      http://current.com/items/91846514_deliatheartist-vs-ihatethemall.htm

It takes a bit of background since ihatethemall made the challenge: "Instead of finding bullshit to spew maybe you should take a show of his, List every point he talks about, then try to dispute what he says with facts. If you cant do it, you have failed.

I challenge ANYONE here to pick a date. Watch the show, then come back here and debate what he has said. EVERY point in that shows air date. I would bet none of you will take that challenge. Send me the date of what show it is so I make sure to watch that show. "

      http://current.com/items/91854471_the-glenn-beck-debate.htm

Delia took his challenge and they agreed to debate the points on a particular Glenn Beck show. Delia kept up her part of the agreement and provided an analysis of all the mistakes in the facts on all the points in that show.

ihatethemall nevever posted any rebuttal to any of the points she made so the conclusion isthat Delia successfull met the challenge

    • Nice interview. Ihatethemall, has lead an interesting and colorful life. A lot of people could do a lot worse. Being down is no fun. But on the other hand it gives you some great experiences.

My dad lead an austere and sheltered life. He had perfect credit, a nice comfy government job, and never risked anything for anyone, especially me. I vowed to never be like that. But I haven't been as far out there as Ihatethemall. He's kind of an American hero, I think. But don't interpret that as approval of doing drugs. It's his free independent spirit I applaud.

On the other hand, I question the politics on Obama and the whole I Hate Them All thing. That's kind of throwing in the towel on America. It's contradictory to the defend the Constitution philosophy. The politicians are part of America. So I think you have to expect what we see in government. It's not all their fault in this system as much as it's our fault and the 4th branch of government - the people and the press.

Obama is portrayed badly by the media. Give him a fair shot. Go to http://whitehouse.gov and get the other side of the story. He's not all bad. He has to deal with all the other crooks in government or he'd probably get killed. But if the people and the media stand up for our principles, he'd have to cave to them.

Don't be a victim of the corporate media. Find out the back story for yourself.

That way no one *cough* (Janforgore), can wine that the featured member story is just a way for you to give virtual hand jobs to friends.

    • Cool interview. Me and ihatethemall don't always agree on everything especially on domestic politics, but I'm always happy to see him on my side when there is something on Cuba.

Some of my favorite people here on Current are people I normally am at odds with. Because its all the sweeter when you find them agreeing with you every once in a blue moon. I used to be much more liberal than I am now and my opinions are constantly evolving. Its interesting to see how I can sometimes be agreeing with someone on one article and disagreeing with them on another. Thanks for making it all interesting ihatethemall...

Some people might say that you are rude, but I think you are actually quite down to earth.

    • Yeah you are a real American love story there fella. You get no attaboys from me bucko, you pissed up your own bed and did what you are supposed to do..stop. You are still a shill for the neo-nuts, Beck and Palin, so that lends you zero credence. I too am a truck driver but I feel no camaraderie with you as if feel your ass is one bad day from over amping and charging headlong carrying many tons into stopped traffic. Where's your end of the bargain, when are you posting your reply in this debate?

Yes. It seems now-a-days it is the thing to do to accept and condone everything others do least we be seen as intolerant. Being old fashioned I guess, I feel no need to suppress an intolerance for what I and others such as I consider too be tasteless behavior. The f....y... image Ihatethemall has chosen to represent himself with is an insult toward other Current members who would like too see our site represented decently on the web. That may be alright with other members but I incur my right to say is not alright with me.

    • It is so fascinating to see where people are coming from . Thanks for this post . I hope to get to know everyone better . What is sort of sad to me is , that only his wife helped him , as if she doesn't count as help , or something . She does count . Imagine his life without her . Everyone needs help at one time or another . I am glad I hate has at least one person to do it . He is lucky he had her . Not everyone is . Others have lots of help . • I don't understand why there would be a reason to "replan" the debate when it has already made progress? It was al set up and agreed to. Nothing in the posts I read said anything about a time limit on it

Delia already laid out her position so all that is left is for ihatethemall to post his rebuttal.

I appreciate that personal business in everybodies lives takes precedent but obviously he has some spare time to reply to this thread. If I were interviewed and featured I would do the same thing to thank all the people that took the time and effort to read the interview and reply.

But by the same token it is also appropriate to save some of that spare time to formulate a suitable rebuttal since Delia took all that time and effort to research the mistakes in Glenn Beck's show then post them to clarify her position.

That is unless he thinks that Delia has proven her point and sufficiently matched " challenge ANYONE here to pick a date. Watch the show, then come back here and debate what he has said." so that he has nothing to dispute it

That could be the case since it was hard to refute. So taking time out to try might not be worth it. That means admiting it would be the courteous thing to do so Delia isn't left hanging.

Concedind the debate would be the honorable thing to do if it is agreed that Delia proved that she rose to the challenge and showed the mistakes that Glenn Beck made.

Thanks Argon! You're right, there's no reason for us to replan a debate except that the debate thread got something like 90 comments without it being a debate, it might get a little muddled but hey, I'm down for whatever works. I got Skype BTW!

Well couldn't he post his rebuttal as replies to your arguments? That would make sense and keep everything easy to follow. That is what ibrakeforrappers13 did under the video clips to keep it simple

It is only fair after all since you went to all the trouble of composing an answer to his challenge that he respond in kind.

That is unless he doesn't think it is worth it to try because you proved your point.

The other option is to concede since that is the honorable thing to do

    • Great interview! How brave of you to admit your addiction problems to all of us, I really admire your honesty and your ability to get your life back together after losing everything. Your wife sounds like an amazing person too! Thank you so much for saying "I don't think Obama hates America"- you are able to see that just because you disagree, it doesn't mean Obama is some crazy terrorist hellbent on the destruction of our country. That's refreshing to hear!

I missed your opinions and views on the debate and I really hope that your job situation goes well and you are able to participate on Current with some kind of regularity soon. Anytime you want to replan a debate, I'm down! Good luck and thanks for sharing your viewpoints and stories about your life with us!

    • Interesting, I'm not sure I completely understand how refusing any assistance in his life is regarded so highly, particularly when the taxes he as well as we pay to provide it.

That is to say I probably could swim a couple of laps in a swimming pool wearing a full length winter coat but I wouldn't win any races. So what's the virtue in making life as difficult for yourself when it's completely unnecessary?

I do enjoy these interviews it facilitates an understanding of the tone of the comments made by the individuals on this site, thanks Current keep up the good work.

    • The job loss is really difficult. Recently I was reading about the economy hitting bottom, but recovery is slow. It isn't over 'til it's over.

Something I've learned about working with people is that you don't know them until you know where and what they are coming from. They learn to recognize what works for themselves and want others to feel the same. For the most part, people aim to be good souls. Politics is really a battlefield where much could be shared has to be thrown aside in the simple attempt at expression. In some ways I could describe myself as a sort of patchwork quilt of cztheday and Ihatethemall, and more.

I'm out of time already. Good luck to you and hope to see more posts.

      Slarabee,

I know when I received the set of questions for my interview, I was given a list and asked to rank them. The task rocked me back for a minute or two because the 7 or so items would all have made my top 20. So I prefaced my response by saying they were all important but then made an honest effort to rank them. Thus, number 7 was by no means unimportant, but I just didn't feel it was as critically important as, say, numbers 1-3.

So I don't think ihatethemall is necessarily saying that his lower-ranked items are unimportant (maybe he is/maybe he isn't)...the (admittedly imperfect) analogy that occurred to me when I did mine was if someone asked me to please rank the members of my extended family in order of their importance to me. Out of 20, my cousins might rank down in the teens, but that doesn't necessarily mean I don't love them...

You're smart, you're well informed. You're great. So, why are you so bitter? (of course this interview disproves that notion). This time you're improperly using the word farce to describe this interview. I wonder what it will be next time.

Oh, and btw keep tagging this as comedy and not news. Its very passive aggressive.

Thank you for your honesty, Jan.

I was wondering if anyone else was going to say something. I read this interview to try and understand where this user's previous sentiments have come from, desperately searching for a source for all the Hate... I did not find it.

Whenever I read the username "I Hate Them All" my mind has instinctively begun replacing it with the words "I Hate The Jews" because of all the of anti-Israel stories that this username has been connected to here on Current over the past year.

At one point, I actually thought this user had an unhealthy obsession with posting, commenting on, or recommending literally ANY story that would paint Israel or Jews in a bad light - it seemed as though this user actually wanted his name to be synonymous with any and all Anti-Israel sentiment expressed on Current. I wanted to be proven wrong about this user, but so far the mean spirited sentiment towards all things Jewish is all I've seen. In fact, his contributions actually inspired me to start the "Anti-Xenophobia" group here on current.

This is not an insult or a personal attack. I do not think that this user would consider what I'm saying to be an insult or an attack. Look up this user's activity history [type: "Ihatethemall, israel" or "ihatethemall, jews" into the current search box] and you will see that he is not shy about his opinions of Israel, or his feelings about the Jewish people as a whole.

For one example amongst many, read this user's comment on the following story, where he calls the Jerusalem Post the "Jew Post"
      http://current.com/items/89681774_ap-dozens-of-hamas-terrorists-captured.htm#896...

I find "I Hate Them All" interesting, because, even after reading this interview, I still do not understand the source of all the self-proclaimed Hate.

It's not bitterness, it's honesty. Sad some don't know the difference, so there is nothing for you to get. He is one of the most obnoxious, rude, and degrading posters on this site proven by his own posts and responses. I don't intend to walk on eggshells here to please the favorites constantly looking for attention.

did I miss something? I thought he very clearly explained that "IHateThemAll" was in reference to politicians, not Jews. But if he is including Jews in there, then we at least have to give him credit for being an equal opportunity hater.

I thought it was funny, but hell, I must be one of those right brainers who refuses to see the world as sharply delineated and certain.

I had to get on here to see how the story went. I knew you would speak so highly of me Jan. For starters you are wrong when it comes to Sarah Palin. I have said in the past that she is a babe and has great legs. At one time I may have supported her. In the last 6 months or so I have said the exact opposite and given my reasons which are obvious to anyone who reads my responses. She is a supporter of israel building larger settlements. That is something I cant support and never will.

So yet again you are wrong with your assessment.

I will be heading to the coalfields of WYO in a couple days to look at their shop. Want me to sed you a load? I hear you can burn it cleanly now.

Wow. That really was a pretty mean spirited response to a personal interview post. I am not usually one to invoke etiquette but this really wasn't the post for that kind of response. It detracts from the good work that you do, Jan.

Detracts from my good work? I don't think so. You get what you give. And just what "etiquette" are you talking about? A post is made and people respond. I responded honestly not in a vulgar manner. Anyone who doesn't agree can overlook it, but of course here no one can give an honest opinion without being jumped on by the usuals. So much for free speech for all.

To: I Hate Them All (and Massanova, while we're at it...)

Above, you say: "I don't hate Jewish People, Only Their Government"

      Seriously?

You really don't hear the anti-semitism in that statement? Are you entirely oblivious to the fact that you are insulting every AMERICAN JEW when you say that? How about the Jews born and bred in England, or Ethiopia, or Peru? Are you simply unaware that MOST JEWS ON THIS PLANET ARE NOT FROM ISRAEL? It seems as if you literally refuse to comprehend that Israel is not the home of all the Jews in the world. Whether you wish to believe it or not, millions of Jews are born and bred Americans, just like you! When you say you hate the "Jewish Government" or you "Hate the country where Jews come from," you are expressing Hate for America.

I know I have attempted to explain this to you many times before, but I will do it again. The words "Jew" and "Israeli" are not synonymous. Judaism is a religion, NOT a nationality, and NOT an ethnicity.

When people use the word "Jew" and "Israeli" interchangeably, they are showing their own ignorance. Until you learn to express your opinions about how much you loathe Israel with more clarity, and less ambivalence, especially with regards to these two very important words, you will likely be "misconstrued" as an Anti-Semite by every American who actually knows the difference between the two words.

This is not about "semantics" or being "sensitive" or "PC."
This is simply about a person literally not understanding the meaning of the words they are using.

"So much for free speech for all."

They're just giving their honest opinion about your opinion. Or are you the only one who can give an honest opinion? Free speech is a two way street.

      @Found_Avenue

I strongly disagree with almost all of ihatethemall's views and I do believe his choice of words is regrettable. However, these interviews aren't about whether I agree or disagree with the participant, its about providing our fellow community members a greater understanding of their fellow commentators.

First, it was "current89 only interviews his friends!" Now it's "89 interviewed someone I don't like!" sprinkled with the usual "I can say what I please but I'll bitch and complain when others do!" as well as "anything I don't consider important is stupid!" Poor Jan, everyone calls you out on your mean bitterness and your hypocrisy, and this somehow impedes your free speech. Let me go get my violin for you!

Gosh I really never even mentioned the Jewish folks or the government of israel in my interview but I guess I will have to say that it may have been a bad choice of words. Seeing as how I am not a fan of the governments in ANY country, if a jewish person is born in the states and considers the states their home my original statement holds true. If they were born in england of france or wherer ever you feel like naming I would have to say chances are I am no fan of that government either. I certainly am no fan of the israeli government and that was the point I was making or at least trying to.

Mr. HateThemAll, you are correct. You did not mention Jews or Israeli's in this interview.

But with the amount of anti-Israel posts (and "misconstrued" Anti-Semitic comments) that you have uploaded to Current, your name has become synonymous, to some, as a vehicle for anti-Jewish sentiment on this site. This is the only reason I felt compelled to comment about this. I was shocked that someone on Current had interviewed you, without mentioning your self-expressed, long-term hatred for things connected with Judaism. It has seemed like one of your most enduring qualities here on Current, and based on all your comments, I thought you wanted it that way.

Either way, I thank you for your reply earlier, and I am happy that you are now attempting to understand how your choice of words on this topic can be interpreted as vehemently offensive by American Jews who have never set foot in Israel.
