czetheday you really should research some of the accusations thrown at Obama before dissing them as Right Wing. It's just the diligent thing to do. Truth comes from all sides and places you weren't looking.

BTW, your quote: 'Until I start hearing of suspected Christian extremists/terrorists being picked up and scurried off to places unknown and held without access to a lawyer and/or habeas corpus I know that the current administration has a damn site more respect for the liberty of US citizens than the last one did.' By that time, it's too late. Besides, this President is still using secret prisons, won't be long before they are for us.

slarabee, don't hate Republicans so much that you fail to miss the evil in your own party. BTW, I'm not Republican, I hate the left/right arguments and think they are immature and make no sense. Once they are in Washington they are all controlled by the same banks and lobbyists. The Rep./Democrat arguments are like the Wizard telling you not to look behind the curtain. I agree at all of the evil done by Bush, and his family was Nazi, that's why I included their name is Obama's appointed list of Nazi's. But ever since JFK, both parties have been easing us into fascism while keeping the public busy arguing parties between themselves. Once you learn that, a whole new perspective opens up to you about Washington. Put the silly left/right arguments to rest and fight the true fight, us vs them.

Education or not, that's naive czetheday. It doesn't take all of them to be in on it for the plan to work. All you need are the Washington regulars and the others just watch as they are ignored. Please, pick a politician, any one, that has power in Washington, that is for the people and provide me some sort of proof. I bet I can prove they're corrupt. The problem in America is we keep thinking next election things will change. Not true. The Fed runs Washington along with those on the take and lobbyists. Any honest politician either keeps his mouth shut or......I don't know, why don't you check and see how many maids of the Bush family have had weird deaths. Or, how about the Clinton's previous business partners. Or what about that secretary that disappeared and was found months later in a Washington D.C. park?

That's what I love about Current. You talk about a possible subject, mine being slippery slopes, and voila' someone posts a story further showing the point.

Any dissenting comment made on Current would be subject to a possible visit by the S.S. if this guy gets his way. Obama's got his Himmler and his Goebbels and we need is a Ribbentrop, Speer, Bush, Heidrich.........I'm sure they're on their way.

Slarabee this video is a classic piece of psychological programming. While alluding to extremists at the beginning, the other names are stated on their own. Psychologically most people can't help but group all of these together in one file cabinet. Unless, you watch the video keeping in mind that he planned his interview and might have been careful to properly word it, it's easy to miss this. So, technically, he's claiming that each and every one of these people are suspect, extremist or not. By doing this interview he can claim openness as the issue slides from extreme to neighbors spying on neighbors because they made a statement fitting one of the categories this man mentioned. Technically, as he changes direction, he wouldn't have lied. I suspect this is a veiled attempt to go after state militias. He will soon make the connection of militias and during that interview link them to Aryan agendas. While there may be a few Aryan groups that arm themselves like a militia, most militias are legitimate and patriotic. All Americans were told to be in a militia by the founding fathers, this is the only way to keep a powerful government from becoming tyrannical. This is the only way to keep the extremely rich from buying out a government. What we are seeing in this country is a non-violent takeover of the country by the Federal Reserve, JP Morgan Chase, AIG, and the World Bank among others. The Washington D.C. of our childhood story books was permanently gone with the shot heard 'round the world...JFK. All fascist take-overs follow the same plan. Take away their guns, destroy their religion, destroy the economy, increase surveillance, invent a false enemy, take away liberties, attack other countries to expand the empire and finally............COLLAPSE......and war crimes trials.

There's also a big difference between the first seat-belt laws and the current ones. Remember, it started with warnings only if you get pulled over for something else. That turned into tickets. Then, you could be pulled over if they saw you without a seat-belt and gave you warnings with ads on television warning you that this was temporary. Coming soon, they warned us, you can be pulled over and ticketed without a seat belt. That came and it couldn't be used for further an investigation. Then, they pushed the envelope again and they decide they can pull over for seat-belt and then use that to interrogate, observe and look for reason to search. Then, they decided if you disagree, they can bring dogs to sniff around your vehicle and if the dog barks that is a good enough suspicion to rip your car into shreds looking for something else. Of course, you can be detained in the back of the police car with no way to witness if anything is put in your car...and so on. It's all about slippery slopes to them and they know that. They wrote the playbook and are masters at it.

Number one, Timothy McVeigh claimed and still does that the CIA kidnapped him, he can't remember a several week period of time, he thinks he has a chip in his head. Manchurian candidate if I ever saw one. Besides that, you don't alter an entire continent's lifestyle due to risk of .01 per cent of the population. Just like we don't mind scan for drivers licenses even though drivers are a larger danger to you. We don't put lightning rods on every thing on the planet and make lightning safe golf courses but lightning is more likely to hit you than a terrorist. The analogies could go on and on but it won't help those who are easily manipulated. They will still cry to Momma Government to save them. Take responsibility for your own life and your neighbor will do the same. Before you know it, we won't need very many police, TerroristSA, Homeland Insecurity, or any oppressive organization. We were always meant to be the National Guard, laws and police just take the power out of your hands to defend yourself. The stripping of liberties is not a way to protect you from outsiders it's a way to control you from insiders. Hey, put my name next to that if you quote it, lol.

MUSLIMS HATE US BECAUSE WE ARE RUINING THEIR COUNTRIES. YOU ARE BEING SCAMMED INTO A FASCIST REGIME AND ALLOWING IT TO HAPPEN. LIGHTNING AND CAR ACCIDENTS ARE STATISTICALLY MORE DANGEROUS TO YOU EVEN IF THE TERRORISTS WERE REAL. GET A * CLUE AND GROW UP WILL YA'.

You miss the slippery slope, slarabee, this will inevitable slide towards 'Christians' being suspect, then anyone who dissents. Where do you draw the line? Next, it'll be Atheists because they're mad at all of the religious extremists thus making them suspect and on and on, come on, this is so 1941, are we that detached?

Oh wait, why do we have the right to vote? oh yeah because occasionally we decide the government isn't doing the were job they voted in to do. You mean all those voters voting for a policy change are anti government? or is that just anti current government and that's okay?
I really don't see where the line is here, because at any given time about half of the population has views that oppose the way the government is doing things.
Then again anyone who not wanting to be a humble little lamb, being drug around by corporate interests, is a threat to someones bottom line, which must be a threat to democracy......

Oh that's right, seeing as how the government is looking out for our best interests, and is truly democratic. The government responds to money, not freedom, not the rights of the people and not to it's many constituents who voted for certain politicians for certain promises made. Every one has a right to question, and even have an anti government stance. Anyone who would look at the governments behavior over the past (pick a time frame) knows how important it is to keep this right. We've had plenty of questionable elections, many broken promises, and corporate puppets in office going way back.
The threat to democracy is; the growing gap between rich and poor, corporate interests being put above those of the common man, lying politicians that aren't held accountable, abuse of power, and many other things that the government is doing to ruin this democracy.
How anyone can not question the current way things are being done, bothers us humans, way more than someone being pissed off about it.

John, I wasn't sure whether you were asking why Obama was singling out Christians or why I was. I was doing so simply because of the title of this article. Obama, of course, is not. The allegation is just another in a long string of paranoid right-wing fantasies aimed at discrediting Obama. One of the truly sad things is that while I think on balance Obama is doing a good job (and is an OH MY GOD number of lightyears ahead of the Bushes and Ronnie Reagan after just one year in the job), there are nonetheless a good number of areas where criticicism is legitimate.
Yet researching and speaking to those (his failure, for example, to give adequate attention to the critical shortage of federal judicial appointments in this country that is forcing many, many people to wait intolerably long periods of time for adjudication of their disputes), the right wing finds it much easier to glom onto the prepackaged comic strip du jour of ugly, untrue rumor and innuendo.

...and Space, you and I don't even live in the same country. IMHO your opinion that "the government" is some kind of monolithic entity controlled by some bizarre type of hive mind so that every elected official and every bureaucrat and every rank and file goverment employee not only thinks the same way as all the rest on every subject matter but also whose overriding intent is to screw the taxpayers who keep them employed is, again, an utter fantasy.
While I have a few issues wih the Electoral College as a true measure of representation...it is not FATALLY flawed, and it governs only the office of the Presidency (which, despite some of the marginal opinions here on Current, is not even close to being an absolute monarchy despite Bush/Cheney's best, albeit incompetent, efforts to the contrary). To the extent America is not a representative Democracy, it is because people are too apathetic to vote their interests and get engaged in the process. It is like owning a business. If you hire a manager but then never show up to see how things are going and fire the manager if he is not doing the job you hired him to do, the fault is yours.
Over time, unfortunately, our society has developed in such a way that such a large segment of our population is poorly educated and largely ignorant of the pressing and often complex issues facing our country that one is almost afraid to SEE them vote for fear that they would vote for someone like Palin whose only asset is, apparently, her looks (personally I don't see it, but I have been told that some men find her attractive...she certainly doesn't have anything else going for her). Nonetheless, I truly DO want to see such people vote because in my experience while their first round of voting maybe dubious, the act of doing so tends to get them a bit more interested in the issues the next time around
Similarly, most of the people I have seen go off to serve in Congress do so with an honest intent to do their very best for their constituency and for their country. Once they get there, however, most gradually turn away from many of the ideals they took with them. Nonetheless the idea that "THE GOVERNMENT" is out to get you is laughably naive. If you get five government people from each party in a room, it takes four hours for them to agree what kind of topping to get on their pizza. No way in hell they have the time or the interest in finding ways to screw spacemikey...
