I really hate that weed is not legal. All of the information that I have obtained on the reason why the GOV. has classified weed up there near crack and heroin, makes the american GOV. look like douche bags. Weed is simple goodness and is needed and can be used to better people and the world. THE US GOV. IS SCARED and i don't have time for it. Im almost 30 and though i have already done this, I would like to smoke a J on the steps of the monument with out feeling as shook as the American GOV. light me up PEACE

let them leagelize it. Think of the money an man hours that was spent on chasing the drug users over the past 20 years. How maney lives were destroyed because he/she got caught smoking a joint. Big deal. Prisons are full of destroyed lives of good people that lit up a joint. If they legalize medical marijuana, do the caught users get a get out of jail free card if they can prove thay suffer a medical problem that the weed can help to stop the pain?? I would not make a good cop. Because i could not destroy a persons life for lighting up an having a little fun....

we're not all liberal potheads around here.
and just to tell YOU, i started school this week, caught up with a couple of old friends, told me they spent last semester getting high and taking it easy, still like it, yet they also opted to start college and they like that too.
so where do you come from saying uneducated? they graduated high school...and are still continuing with their education!
and they're not the only ones.inform yourself and realize that pot smokers are not all like what you learned when learning about drugs. almost all of my "stoner" friends are extremely smart and have plans for a future, involving real ambitions.
baiscally, they're regular people with a different choice of leisure that is engrained with a stigma, but they're not lazy morons!

I don't smoke pot. I don't particularly care for it. I am, however, very much in support of legalizing marijuana. I'm also not a liberal.
You insinuate in your argument that you are educated and that is apparently the difference between you and others on this site who disagree with you. Fortunately, I can prove this to not be the case.
1. A conservative, by definition, believes in a strict interpretation of the Constitution of the United States.
2. The Constitution states clearly that the Federal Government can only make laws that are specifically granted or mandated therein.
3. At no point and time does the Constitution grant the Federal Government the right to make laws regarding the substances an individual in any given state in the Union can or cannot intake into one's own body (if the substance does not cross state or national borders, the interpretive ability to "regulate interstate commerce" does not apply).
4. Therefore, all laws made by the Federal Government in regards to "controlled substances" does not fall under "liberal interpretation", the laws themselves are patently illegal.
5. This, by law, places drug issues squarely in the jurisdiction of the individual States, solely and exclusively.
I find it strange how many uneducated college graduates think that legalizing drugs is a liberal cause. It is, in fact, one of the most agregious examples of liberal government on the books today. The only other law that is in the same ballpark of liberal crimes is the Federal Reserve Act of 1913. I find it appalling how many "conservatives" seem willing to go to the grave defending these policies. That being said, I think liberals should have every right to think the Fed should leave us all alone regarding these issues.
It's seems to me that there is an inverted likelihood that a person considering him/herself as a "conservative" will actually understand the meaning and implications of the concept. You can be my "Example: A"
In summation:
QueenGloria. You are wrong.

QueenGloria - I think we have to worry more about unthinking sheep who just nibble the propaganda line because they are turning America into an Idiocracy. Ignorance may be bliss, but it isn't reality. Anyone who has looked at the scientific research behind marijuana, or has tried it for themselves, knows that you have your head up somewhere dark and stinky.
You don't know what you're talking about - not in the least. Oh and BTW I'm a college graduate - a computer programmer - and I've written 2 books on computer programming that were published. I have a 140 IQ, which means statistically I can be quite comfortable assuming that I'm much smarter than you are. I'm smart and successful and I, along with my colleagues who use cannabis, stand as living, breathing examples that you are so very wrong.
For your kids' sake, it would be wise to educate yourself on drugs. If they find out how wrong you are about marijuana they might think you're just as wrong about the really dangerous hardcore drugs. For your kids to be able to trust what you're saying, you should educate yourself and know what you're talking about. It would be dangerous for them to just think you are ignorant on this subject, because then they'll trust their friends over you.

Libertarians have been moving to New Hampshire in groves, it's called the Free State Project!
These freedom fighters have been spreading the message of liberty and personal freedom for decades in NH and they're really gaining some ground.
I'm just afraid it will be politics as usual in D.C., no real change...anywhere in the U.S. for that matter, too many ex-Trotskyist neocons and Keynesian liberal enslavers....
I just wanted to give a shout out to all the freedom fighters in NH that helped make this a reality!

They should either make it legal or make alcohol illegal. I've seen tragic effects of Alcohol. Marijuana is far less insidious drug than alcohol.

I personally think that marijuana will have a slight chance that it can be legalized. The outcome of that will devastate the pharmaceutical companies nation wide. Do to the fact that marijuana is the one of the "drugs" that is beneficial in alot of aspects such as fighting brain cancer (http://current.com/items/91878903_new-study-shows-marijuana-components-fight-bra...) and other diagnoses. Also weed has much more pros than cons health wise than lots other drugs. Plus weed also is everywhere and anyone really can posess it, by that saying there will be regulations that the goverment will impose, and as said above many other states will disagree with the bill. Thats just one of many reasons of why it would be a very long time for marijuana to be legal.

Don't forget Washington. We got two bills in the legislator and a citizens initiative was filed a few days ago.
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2010768731_webmarijuana12.html
As far as how it will become legal;
State by state. i don't think the FED will ever legalize it. They may try to impose a Highway Safety tax on the states under interstate commerce or some other BS tax in the name of safety. But I don't see the FED make the national statement "pro drugs" because of our stances in the past.
Within the state it will go;
1. Open.
2. Govt reg.
3. tax
4. limit thc
5. still crack down on growers (to keep the kids safe)govs got to make the Benjamins.
Although when it first becomes legal it will be free(not price). As time goes on it will be regulated into the ground. I would also guess not all states would jump on board.
