YORK, Pa. (AP) - A fired central Pennsylvania police detective will spend nine to 18 months in prison for stealing and using drugs from his department's evidence locker.

Fifty-5-year-old Steven Crider was sentenced Friday in York County Court. The former West Manchester Township Police detective pleaded guilty in November to forgery, tampering with evidence and other charges.

Authorities say Crider took cocaine, marijuana and other drugs from the department's evidence locker over an 8-year period ending in April of last year. Prosecutors were forced to drop one case because of the missing evidence.
