Current has said in the past that it is one of the few independent media companies with national cable and satellite TV distribution. It is financed by private investors and individuals.
However, after the announcement of the Comcast-NBC merger, Comcast submitted a filing to the Securities and Exchange Commission. For the first time, the filing publicly disclosed the companies Comcast owns a partial stake in. The media properties listed in Comcast’s filing include:
NHL Network US, L.P. – 15.6%
The MLB Network, LLC – 8.34%
