Russia joins the European Union in prohibiting the use of chlorine as an anti-microbial treatment in poultry production, which is commonly used in the United States.
A commonly used anti-microbial in poultry processing plants is chlorine. Chlorine is a known carcinogen and when put in the water vats that chill the chickens, it actually breaks down muscle fibers and is absorbed into the tissue.
Not only is this bad for our economy, but terrible for our health. Of course, it isn't American farmers poisoning the food supply, its the giant, agro-corporations.
Support your local, organic farmer...it will help save the country and your life.

We need to restaff the FDA with people who aren't former CEO's of Agro-Business.
Maybe we should take a page out of the "How To Rig The System In Our Favor" Playbook used by the Republicans and fire the entire FDA and replace them all.....with Amish farmers. You know those guys seem to do pretty well without injecting their livestock with 5 metric tons of cancer causing chemicals.
It's just so pathetic that these assholes in the FDA are willing to poision their own families just so their former business partners can make a few extra pennies per pound.
I mean, their kids eat this shit too! But then again not one of these assholes went to college to get philosophy degrees nor do they spend their days wringing their hands worrying about the health of the people.
The CEO's of Enron, Haliburton, Blackwater, Citibank and all the Agro-Businesses....they all got their MBA's and went into the world with one simple philosophy: fuck everyone and get as much money as possible by any means possible.

The world over is waking up to the unethical practices of "big business" and the lows they are willing to go to in order to make a dollar or save a penny.
The eat local/ organic movement is really starting to pick up steam in ALL demographics with good reason. Yes, it is more expensive than your big multinational super markets, BUT it is all about moderation. Decrease your portion size of meat and have a few vegetarian meals every once in a while. Humans really do not need as much meat as we think we do. There are other sources of protein. I am not saying you have to cut meat out entirely, but just be smart about your choices. Would you rather eat smaller portions of meat a few less times a week OR ingest ammonia and chlorine on a regular basis?
The fact that the FDA approves the use of these chemicals as additives within the food supply is sickening. The use of these chemicals within food are in its infancy and no longterm studies have been done to account for bioaccumulation and biomagnification within our systems. They look at the breakdown and half life of these chemicals and determine that they will pass through our systems with minimal harm. Yes, they may seem harmless in small doses, but ingesting these and other toxic chemicals on a regular basis over large amounts of time can potentially have dire effects on our health as a population.
We need more governments willing to take a stance on the contamination of the food supply and bring international attention to these underhanded practices.

It's amazing how many things the EU and even China have baned because they are proven to be bad people to use. Yet US corporations are able to bribe our legislators and government organisations to not fight for the well being of the people they are elected to serve.
Just wait till corporations have the rights of citizens which will give them the right to donate money to the government as a citizen................ yup they will be able to donate as much money as they want to get what they want even easier.

It is getting hared and harder , where I live to find a source of free range , organic poultry . I have cut back a lot though . If we were all stubborn about it , progress will be made .

yea i've banned american meat and poultry from my life, but its irrelevant because that doesn't solve anything. We need to have a full proof law that can't expire, be revoked, what I'm saying is we need an amendment to the constitution making healthy, fully organic food a right. Sorry but industry will not change to save us, they created this after-all.
We need to demand naturally processed, free range, properly fed meat. If of course you eat meat. - 2 years ago
