10 Ways the U.S. Military Has Shoved Christianity Down Muslims' Throats

It's not just private religious organizations that act like Christian crusaders.

http://pakistanthinktank.org/v2/article-archives/287-21st-century-crusadersonwar...

The Military Religious Freedom Foundation was founded in 2005 by Mikey Weinstein, a U.S. Air Force Academy graduate and Reagan administration White House counsel, after the harassment his own sons faced as Jewish cadets at the academy led him to discover that the fundamentalist Christian takeover of the Air Force Academy was far from an isolated problem. It was a militarywide issue that needed to be confronted head on. But it quickly became apparent that MRFF's initial mission of protecting the rights of our men and women in uniform was only addressing part of the problem.
The evangelizing and proselytizing of Iraqi and Afghan Muslims by private religious organizations and U.S. military personnel also had to be exposed and stopped -- particularly the materials and media available via the Internet and television that could be used by Islamic extremists as propaganda for recruiting purposes. When MRFF began exposing some of what we were finding on the Internet, Weinstein was contacted by two Bush administration national security officials, one civilian and one military, who confirmed that the kind of stuff we were exposing was, in fact, being used as fodder for propaganda, and they urged him to not stop what MRFF was doing.
The most astounding thing, as you'll see in the list below, is that it's not the private religious organizations that are most at fault in spreading the crusader message, but the U.S. military.

Top ten ways to convince the Muslims we (USA & the West) are on a Crusade

10. Have top U.S. military officers, Defense Department officials and politicians say we're in a religious war.

9. Have top U.S. military officers appear in a video showing just how Christian the Pentagon is.
8. Plant crosses in Muslim lands and make sure they're big enough to be visible from really far away.

7. Paint crosses and Christian messages on military vehicles and drive them through Iraq.

6. Make sure that our Christian soldiers and chaplains see the war as a way to fulfill the 'great commission.'

5. Post on the Internet photos of U.S. soldiers with their rifles and Bibles

4. Invite virulently anti-Muslim speakers to lecture at our military colleges and service academies.

3. Have a Christian TV network broadcast to the world that the military is helping missionaries convert Muslims.

2. Make sure Bibles and evangelizing materials sent to Muslim lands have official U.S. military emblems on them.

1. Send lots of Bibles in Arabic, Dari and Pashtu languages to convert the Muslims.

    • The most insane part of this is that even a REAGAN GUY thought this was way outta line, and then in classic Bush administration form the government officials tell him they know it's dangerous but DON'T try and stop it?

      Total. Fucking. Insanity.

This nation is far closer to being off the edge than I thought.

Read the Egyptian book of the Dead, startling similar to the story of Exodus. The flood is remarkably similar to the Epic of Gilgamesh.

Jesus is a compilation of a bunch of different mystery gods.

And even if none of that were true, how does one disprove something that hasn't been proven?

Go on ibrake, disprove Zoroastrianism or the Nordic religion or the Greek gods.

Is that how you concede a point?

You don't know what logic is, you can't even define it and I'll bet you don't even know how to use it.

And oh, how surprising that you picked your culture's favorite indoctrination. What an act of faith, I bet it was a big sacrifice to join 70% of the nation. It must have been such a sacrifice to blindly follow what everyone else does and encourages you to do on a daily basis.

no we weren't, and I'm here because I was born here, my parents were born here, my grandparents were born here, and I have just as much a right to be here as anyone else.
Just because I chose not to believe in the Christian myth doesnt mean I shouldn't be an American. I have a Constitutional right to believe what I want too, or would you rather that right be taken away from me too?

You, my lady, are incredibly mistaken. The United States is a secular nation that happened to founded by people who called themselves Christians. Many of the founding fathers were Freemasons, some outright atheists!
I don't know what public school system failed you nor what fabrication of the New Testament you cherry-pick your beliefs from, but your take on what it means to be American is at the very least, misguided.
Feel free to call yourself a fundamentalist before you call yourself an American.

Oh boy you are clueless. Gotta love Fundamentalists.

First off, a nation of mostly Christians does not constitute a "Christian nation." The Vatican is a Christian nation as it is a religious theocracy based on Christianity. It's funny that despite how much Protestants hate the Catholic church, they seek to emulate in every possible way.

Secondly, we were not founded by Christian men. Most of the founding fathers were Deists followed closely by Unitarians, both of which are considered heretical by Christian standards. And even if that WEREN'T true, they believed FIERCELY in the FREEDOM OF RELIGION.

Ya see, there's also this document called the Treaty of Tripoli, signed by George Washington and John Adams to the Barbary Nations. One of it's more interesting stipulations says...

"Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion,—as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen,—and as the said States never entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."

And both the pledge of allegiance AND our money were both changed to have the god message in the 1950's as part of the Red Scare.

And Christ is YOUR savior as part of your given liberty to practice whatever religion you choose in this great country, if it were mandated to the rest of us there wouldn't really be a point would there?

      LOL!
She get's proven wrong so she says historical facts are just "details" that blind us to reality!

      QueenG,

"He says it in nature, because he designed our bodies for heterosexual procreation."

Going by that logic, people who can't have children shouldn't be allowed to get married because they can't procreate.

The majority may be considered Christian, but you have to wonder how many of those people are not really spiritual at all and only label themselves as Christian because thats what their parents are, or simply from a lack of having something better thing to call themselves. I guarantee that the majority of that "majority" don't even attend church or read the bible on even a semi-regular basis. The real question you have to ask yourself, is what real Christian uses Jesus as a reason to massacre people? That "majority" seems more than happy to kill kill kill, so are they really Christian? This "Christianity" that QueenGloria speaks of, which is non-denominational fundamentalism, is the greatest insult to the teachings of Jesus Christ that has ever been manufactured. This American breed of Christian is the most despicable, ignorant, and hate-mongering type that has ever walked the earth. I find it ironic that the people who scream that people need to except Jesus are the people who need it the most themselves, because whatever they are worshipping is definitely not Christ.

@Everyone... how many times have we brought the Light of science, history, and common sense to Christians who still believe that the dinosaur bones were planted to test the faith, that Jesus went back and saved everyone who died before he even lived, that the Earth is only a few thousand years old, and that Christianity is the only true religion. They will argue anything without even knowing their own religion or the roots of Christianity in mysticism. They ''believe'' what they are told by the Church but don't actually know the Bible, even though it's been translated a few times to English and it was channeled to begin with. Arguing or trying to prove anything to them will never work. Nor trying to convince anyone of a belief against their own or shed light that their beliefs are wrong. Christians grow stronger the more we challenge and argue with them. If every non-Christian would turn their back, attention, and focus on the Christians they would lose their power and slowly dissolve. One day, all religion will.

@Queen The bible says a lot of things and I can almost guarantee that QueenGloria does not follow every single thing in the bible in her life. You have many egocentric beliefs and guess what - they are only YOUR beliefs. If other people share your exact beliefs, then they are THEIR beliefs. But what you believe and your clan is not what EVERYONE believes. That is a fact because I don't believe what you are trying to sell. You think America is a Christian Nation but it is not. I'm not going to try to convince you since everyone before me already has and I'm sure you have people in your daily life who does the same but you hold so blindly, er, strongly, to your religion and beliefs (where ever they even come from) that you won't deter.

If you're Christian then so be it. Be Christian. But be Christian with others who wish to share your values and beliefs and leave everyone else alone. It's not your job to convert or spread the word of Christ or Jesus or God or whatever. If THEIR word needs to be spread I'm sure that THEY can do it on their own by divine intervention. Not by some mere bi-petal carbon life form who sins and is going to HELL if they don't put their faith in an unseen God.

Last thought - we are each gods. Look within.

so... i perused the bible, and here's what it told me.

      1. Marriage in the United States shall consist of a union between one man and one or more women. (Gen 29:17-28; II Sam 3:2-5)

      2. Marriage shall not impede a man's right to take concubines, in addition to his wife or wives. (II Sam 5:13; I Kings 11:3; II Chron 11:21)

      3. A marriage shall be considered valid only if the wife is a virgin. If the wife is not a virgin, she shall be executed. (Deut 22:13-21)

      4. Marriage of a believer and a non-believer shall be forbidden. (Gen 24:3; Num 25:1-9; Ezra 9:12; Neh 10:30)

      5. Since marriage is for life, neither this Constitution nor the constitution of any State, nor any state or federal law, shall be construed to permit divorce. (Deut 22:19; Mark 10:9)

      6. If a married man dies without children, his brother shall marry the widow. If he refuses to marry his brother's widow or deliberately does not give her children, he shall pay a fine of one shoe, and be otherwise punished in a manner to be determined by law. (Gen. 38:6-10; Deut 25:5-10)

      7. In lieu of marriage, if there are no acceptable men in your town, it is required that you get your dad drunk and have sex with him (even if he had previously offered you up as a sex toy to men young and old), tag-teaming with any sisters you may have. Of course, this rule applies only if you are female. (Gen 19:31-36)

I was born and raised here as my family has been since our arrival in the early 1800's and we are in fact not Christian but we, sure as you are born, are Americans, we have fought in every war this country has waged since the war of 1812. Your statement is as ignorant as it is inflamatory,

I have no idea how this turned into an argument about gay marriage but here's something to help my buddy gloria out

Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

      Romans 1:26,27

Homesexuality is wrong period. The bible isnt going to advocate homosexual marriage either.

And those who America isnt a christian nation,i would suggest taking a tour of the state capital, the ten commandments are everywhere along with several bible verses

Aaiinnnnn... sorry, you loose all your winnings. Our country is a secular country founded on the principles of Freedom of Religion and the Separation of Church and State. Christ was never arrogant about his knowledge as you seem to be. He also warned US all not to judge one another lest we be judged, and he challenged US all to look to ourselves and our own guilt before casting the first stone. As a former Decon in the Presbyterian Church and 50+ years studying what Jesus actually said I've come to the conclusion that he was teaching principles of Buddhism, and specifically he told US all that we are Divine Spirit whether we are conscious of it or not. He said that "the Kingdom of Heaven is within," not outside ourselves. He detested hypocrites and urged US all to forgive one another of everything. Nothing is beyond forgiveness. I think he would tell you to save your self before you think of saving someone else, or "pull the beam from your own eye before attempting to remove the speck from your neighbor's eye." It seems like you need to learn a little bit more about what you believe before you go preaching to others what they aught to believe.

    • This is pretty disgusting. How can the government allow this to happen? How can people call themselves Christians and do this? The time of intolerance should have passed by now. It's so sad to imagine so many troops are fighting for all the wrong reasons, having their religion used to dehumanize the enemy. That's the last thing we need.

    • Well look on the bright side. At least the Muslims in the middle east didn't freak out for nothing when Bush said that we were going to conduct a crusade.

Personally, I think that this kind of attempt at religious conversion is disgusting. The United States military first off has no business either putting religious symbols on it's equipment, nor does it have any business encouraging it's soldiers to do the same. Second, it is incredibly stupid to put religious symbols up and try to convert people in an area that has a very strong paranoia about crusades and crusade like events if you are trying to both win the hearts and minds of the people and bring about a stable peace.
